Number 6 5:00:42 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:00:48 PM
Hello!
Number 6 5:02:28 PM
I'll only be on awhile, then I'm going to an electronic music concert.
Lizbot (host) 5:07:48 PM
@Number 6 - Well I'm glad you could hop in here! Which concert?
Lizbot (host) 5:08:29 PM
@Number 6 - Also, was there some silence between the 2nd pre-recorded PPSA and my show's intro ID? There seemed to be a longer lag than usual from this end
Number 6 5:10:32 PM
Robert Rich, he's a big name in that genre. https://robertrich.bandcamp.com/music
Number 6 5:11:06 PM
Yes, I was wondering if there was a problem.
Lizbot (host) 5:11:36 PM
@Number 6 - Oh, nice, I've heard his music before. Where's the concert?
Number 6 5:12:12 PM
Those pesky pirates again, no doubt. Still need to walk the plank to get in.
Number 6 5:14:05 PM
https://www.ambient.church/event/robert%2Brich-9.18.2025/r/rec51zNSkbJbR4XJL
Number 6 5:14:42 PM
Church of the Holy Trinity at 19th and Walnut.
Lizbot (host) 5:15:01 PM
@Number 6 - At what point did the broadcast come in? Was it part-way through my mic break?
Number 6 5:15:18 PM
My old stomping grounds, and yours too.
Lizbot (host) 5:15:37 PM
@Number 6 - Ooooh, those Ambient Church events! I keep getting ads for those. They look good. Been meaning to check one out when I have time
Number 6 5:15:53 PM
Right before the beginning of your show.
Number 6 5:17:12 PM
This site has links to a bunch of venues: https://www.starsend.org/events.html
Number 6 5:18:38 PM
There's some free concerts at the Rotunda sometimes, and at St. Mary's Church/ The Gatherings.
Lizbot (host) 5:18:39 PM
@NUmber 6 - yeah, I received ads for one in upstate NY as well! I wonder if the light projection element is as good as the Klip Collective's!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:43 PM
@Number 6 - So you heard my whole mic break?
Number 6 5:21:13 PM
The ones at The Gatherings are pretty goodhttps://www.starsend.org/gatherings.html.
Lizbot (host) 5:21:19 PM
@Number 6 - I don't know if you've seen Klip Collective's light projections, but they synchronize them to live music, like at Dave Pianka's "Making Time Transcendental" 3-day annual ambient music festival at Fort Mifflin down by the PHL airport.
Number 6 5:21:37 PM
Mic break seemed okay.
Danosaur🦖 5:21:49 PM
Here to conquer some wishing wells
Lizbot (host) 5:22:12 PM
@Number 6 - sometimes prerecorded music as well, like they projected on plants longwood Gardens about a decade+ ago and projected on sculptures at Grounds for Sculpture in Trenton
Lizbot (host) 5:22:21 PM
Hello Danosaur🦖!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:27 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - A lofty goal!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:38 PM
@Number 6 - Happy Rhodes coming up!
Danosaur🦖 5:22:46 PM
I want to sit in trees with birds
Number 6 5:22:56 PM
Will have to check out Klip Collective then.
Number 6 5:23:58 PM
Happy Rhodes, yay!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:59 PM
@Number 6 - I was all discombobulated during the mic break and forgot to mention the chat I think as well because I was concerned the signal hadn't been picked up yet! I had just silenced the little radio in here and it hadn't picked up my signal yet at that point!
Danosaur🦖 5:24:10 PM
That song reminded me of some Leonard Cohen song from another universe
Lizbot (host) 5:25:29 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I have always relied on the delightfulness of birds to bolster my mood...when my parrot isn't trying to bite my fingers off
Danosaur🦖 5:25:29 PM
Oh, I see that's from a musical. That would be interesting
George Korein 5:29:46 PM
Just in the last week I listened to a bunch of versions of this song
Lizbot (host) 5:30:23 PM
@Number 6 - Definitely check out Klip Collective! I've seen them at least a dozen times, and they're always impressive. They're about to project at Making Time Transcendental starting tomorrow, but I'm skipping it this year for the first time because I'll be in NYC
Lizbot (host) 5:30:49 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - oooh, that makes me wanna play some Leonard Cohen! Never a bad idea
Lizbot (host) 5:30:57 PM
Hi George Korein!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:47 PM
@George Korein - Which song? I Go to Sleep?
Lizbot (host) 5:33:12 PM
@George Korein - I love "I Go to Sleep". It's a song clearly a lot of singers/producers thought could be a hit in the mid-60s when Ray Davies wrote it. Three major artists aside from The Kinks released versions of it that same year of 1965 and none did that well. Later I think people had more appreciation for it
Lizbot (host) 5:38:44 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Re: Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris - My parents had the original off-Broadway cast recording and played it in the living room often when I was growing up. They saw the original run in NYC before I was born. I saw a revival at The Adrian in Philly in the early 2000s. It's a great show, really just sort of a jukebox musical of Jacques Brel's music, but translated into English.
Danosaur🦖 5:38:49 PM
Nina Simone ❤️
Lizbot (host) 5:39:54 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - The reigning queen of autumn torch songs!
Danosaur🦖 5:40:34 PM
@Lizbot - Not familiar with Jacques Brel's music.
Lizbot (host) 5:42:07 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Very clever lyricist, and a powerful singer to boot! He was from Brussels and records 99% of his songs in French, very rarely in Dutch
Randy Marthins 5:42:31 PM
Wake me up when 3rd Quarter ends LOL Finance joke
Lizbot (host) 5:42:50 PM
Jacques Brel was a huge influence on David Bowie and Scott Walker. Both covered his songs, including "My Death"
Lizbot (host) 5:42:58 PM
Hello Randy Marthins!
Randy Marthins 5:43:38 PM
:waves:
Lizbot (host) 5:44:05 PM
@Randy Marthins - 4th quarter will be here in no time. Relishing this nice autumnal weather! Gotta cling to the good stuff!
Danosaur🦖 5:44:22 PM
@Lizbot - dramatic French music seems like it would be in David Bowie's wheelhouse
Lizbot (host) 5:46:56 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - oh yes, very much. I think it was one of his favorite things after cold German music!
Lizbot (host) 5:47:24 PM
@Danosaur🦖- But also the Brel lyrics have a lot of snark in 'em

I'm so close! HI!!!
Evan St. Jacques 5:51:25 PM
It's so super not listed and stuff
Lizbot (host) 5:51:36 PM
@Evan St. Jacques - Good thing then there's WPRB! I've never used Spotify, so I don't know if this is the case with Robyn Hitchcock, but some artists don't have their catalog on there. He might, I don't know. He also has a lotta albums, so maybe just not all of them are on there, dunno
Lizbot (host) 5:52:46 PM
@Evan St. Jacques - Is any other Robyn Hitchcock music on their platform? If not, he might've chosen not to permit Spotify to access his music, but again, the guy is prolific, might just not have all his albums!
Evan St. Jacques 5:53:45 PM
I'm p sure it's our boy!! You And oblivion the album just isn't on there
Evan St. Jacques 5:53:59 PM
I can find it elsewhere I think

Lizbot (host) 6:09:39 PM
Hello JimmyCarter ismy Hero / Mundane Lark! Just got off the mic, but I saw you pop up in here while I was talking
Lizbot (host) 6:10:47 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - YES. I couldnt think of his name, but I've seen Hirschfeld's work all my life, it's everywhere, and I gotta say...Not a fan! Sometimes I like it, but man, he does Dulcinea dirty on the La Man of La Mancha album art!
Mundane Lark 6:11:01 PM
I saw yall had a great vacation! I can't wait for my chance to go.
Lizbot (host) 6:11:08 PM
@Number 6 - See ya! Have fun at the show!
Lizbot (host) 6:11:37 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - haha, yeah I could not say on air what the foxes leave on my porch!!
Lizbot (host) 6:11:58 PM
@Mundane Lark - It was fantastic! I am missing France more and more!
Mundane Lark 6:17:24 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:20:48 PM
Hello Rob from Maryland 🦀!
Lizbot (host) 6:22:06 PM
I love that this Soupy song has the line: "Someone sitting next to me is knitting I can appreciate the need to keep your hands busy" - Fitting since Marisa/Stitching Pink was subbing here in studio just before my show today!
Lizbot (host) 6:23:45 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - How's the birdage down in old Maryland these days?
Ossy 6:24:28 PM
hi liz, great lovely nature smells today
Lizbot (host) 6:26:31 PM
@Mundane Lark - Jealous! Yeah, I am wishing I had more time across the ocean! Paris was even more beautiful than I expected, I had so many great experiences all over the country and almost ever local I met was actually very friendly, which goes against that stereotype I always heard growing up. Maybe being from Philly/NYC/NJ region has hardened me and France is very friendly by comparison?!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:56 PM
Hello Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 6:27:06 PM
@OSsy - crunchy leaves and autumnal smells!
Lizbot (host) 6:27:59 PM
@Ossy - although it's a bit too soon for crunchy leaves! None of that yet. But my neighbor was burning something in their yard, if not leaves, I guess wood and it felt like early smells of the coming cold!
Danosaur🦖 6:28:00 PM
I saw the new Spinal Tap movie yesterday and I thought it was very funny. I recommend it if you're a fan.
Ossy 6:29:08 PM
liz - i can feel that, considering also pumkin and chocolate fall latte for the incoming red-yellow-orange and winter seasons!
Danosaur🦖 6:29:19 PM
It rained here last night and now it's like the tropics outside. Looks like fall but feels like steamy summer.
Ossy 6:29:41 PM
oooo les fleurs on repeat always!
Lizbot (host) 6:30:15 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Oh, it's on my list! I haven't gotten to many movies since my being out of town most of August and then jumping right back into school schedule / fall craziness, but I wanna see it! I a disappointed I miss The Naked Gun reboot in theaters while I was away. I heard it was funny. I guess I could've seen it in French during my trip!

@Ossy - Minnie is a goddess from beyond the grave. Most gorgeous haunting voice!
Danosaur🦖 6:31:33 PM
@Lizbot - I saw The Naked Gun and thought it was very funny. Pamela Anderson's character scat singing in a jazz club was a highlight for me.

Mary Jones 6:32:42 PM
Hello Lizbot and all! Enjoyed the show while driving around, and now squeezing the last bit of summer out of my pool.
Lizbot (host) 6:32:51 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - The temperatures are all over the place. it was SO humid in my house last night, I was sweaty. Now I'm downright chilly in studio. This is the first time since probably early April that I've wished I had a hoodie or some other layer to put on in here! Come 6 PM I got really chilly, and the sun isn't even down yet! WOrried I'll realy be shivering the final hour of the show!
Lizbot (host) 6:33:00 PM
Hi Mary Jones!
Teresa Peacock 6:34:15 PM
Bien Retour (deux? trois? semaines en retard), Madame Bot! <3 Nothing can lift me out of the dumps and doldrums better than Minnie Riperton's 'Les Fleurs'! I'm ashamed to admit that I'd always incorrectly associated that song with Diana Ross (and maybe The Supremes doing the "na--na--na-na-na-na-- etc." backing vocals).
Lizbot (host) 6:34:35 PM
@Randy Marthins - No worries! Glad you're making art to the music!
Danosaur🦖 6:34:56 PM
@Lizbot - yeah, I turned on the AC this morning just to get the humidity under control. We're getting monsoonal moisture from Mexico according to the weather
Mary Jones 6:35:01 PM
I don’t think I knew about the Fox in the Snow painting, so that adds more to a song I already loved.
Lizbot (host) 6:35:30 PM
@Mary Jones - Oooh, I am getting cold in studio! I hope that pool heater is cranked up! I don't usually run cold. I need to hide an emergency layer in the studio!
Randy Marthins 6:35:38 PM
I ALWAYS credit WPRB and the DJs when I post!!!
Danosaur🦖 6:36:06 PM
@Lizbot - I was also working on an illustration while listening. See, you're like an artists' muse
Lizbot (host) 6:36:08 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yes! Such a great song! Jordan Peele used it in "Us". I LOVE her voice on the Rotary Connection albums
Mary Jones 6:36:29 PM
@lizbot the pool does have a heater, or yeah, we would’ve closed it a couple of weeks ago I think. But this is it, we’re closing it next week.
Randy Marthins 6:36:53 PM
@danosaur - we should be friends!!! LO.L
Ossy 6:37:30 PM

Ossy 6:38:57 PM
same with me, like playing games to music
Danosaur🦖 6:39:03 PM
@Randy Marthins - are you on Instagram?
Lizbot (host) 6:39:16 PM
@Mary Jones - I would love a pool, but I would never want to deal with the hassle of putting one in a yard didn't already have one...At least I don't think I would! But one can dream. I've always been a water girl.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:39:27 PM
@Lizbot, birdage/birding is good, though I didn't get out quite as much this past week. I saw Rock Pigeons fly over our house for the first time ever. Elsewhere there were a few warblers. How's your birdage? How are your catbirds?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:40:13 PM
And it was great to hear that Raincoats song :-D
Mary Jones 6:41:00 PM
@lizbot we really lucked out—my stepdad put the pool in when he bought the house, long before we ever moved in. We had many reasons we sold our place to live here and take care of my mom, but the pool was a huge perk,
Lizbot (host) 6:41:12 PM
@Mary Jones - I get cold just thinking about the one pool we had brief access to in France. It was in a little town called Les Lecques and it was freakishly deep - Like we're talking 12 feet deep for no good reason, but not that large area-wise! no diving board to explain the depth! It was VERY surprsing when I got in and VERY cold, but I was DETERMINED to enjoy this pool, which sat on a windy cliff! There was a heater but no one had turned it on and that was the only time we could use it, dammi
Mary Jones 6:41:28 PM
So now it’s just keeping up the maintenance
Randy Marthins 6:42:12 PM
@danosaur - yes: @randmart37
Lizbot (host) 6:42:34 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Catbirds are STILL out there! One have me a talking on the deck a few days ago!
Mary Jones 6:42:43 PM
@Lizbot 12 feet! That’s crazy! I totally get going in anyway, though, I am absolutely a water girl too.
Lizbot (host) 6:43:12 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I saw a cool pigeon in Monaco and took some videos and photos. Just a pigeon, but I very pretty one! I know there are maaaany varieties of pigeons
Lizbot (host) 6:45:12 PM
@Mary Jones - oh yeah, I bet! It's awesome to have one already in place! Seems plants gotta be pretty much decimated to excavate for a pool!
Danosaur🦖 6:45:20 PM
@Randy Marthins - Got it! Cool stuff. Just followed you.
Randy Marthins 6:47:24 PM
Back atcha!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:49:08 PM
@Mary Jones - Oh man, I was SO excited to see that pool, but we were only staying in that place super briefly, and the next day we'd be out sightseeing all day, (mainly going to calanques, which are Mediterranean coves,) so I knew it was the only time to go in that pool. It was one of those "I WILL ENJOY THIS, goddammit!" type of situations! I finally noticed my fingernails were turning blue. George glomed onto me and we both floated around like an iceberg. Took a hot shower after that!
Mary Jones 6:49:27 PM
@Lizbot from the pictures I saw, the guy who has our house before my stepdad just had grass and a dog pen, so a pool and landscaping was an upgrade. He went and planted apple and pear trees, and really remade the place. But overall if o had to choose, a garden is better than a pool.
Lizbot (host) 6:50:22 PM
@Randy Marthins - I gotta check out yr art & @Danosaur🦖's as well!
Danosaur🦖 6:50:33 PM
@Lizbot - Have you ever heard of the French house music artist Le Tone? Heard a song called Joli Dragon and it is really something.
Lizbot (host) 6:50:59 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I have to check out Le Tone! Thanks for the rec!
Danosaur🦖 6:51:51 PM
@Lizbot - I'm dansipple_illustration on Instagram if you want to see my illustrations
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:51:56 PM
@Lizbot, I know I've heard this 24 Hours song ... I may have taped it off the radio in the early 80s? My wife also recognized this song. Neither one of us has heard it in forever, so thank you so much for playing it

@Mary Jones - I'd still pick a pool! Cherry tree would be nice...or mmm, peaches...but I'd be battling squirrels all day every day!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:22 PM
@Mary Jones - Or deer! I saw the beginnings of Dennis' deer-proof fence!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:33 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Nice, thanks!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:52:43 PM
@Lizbot, maybe you could persuade the catbirds to drive the foxes away from your deck?
Danosaur🦖 6:53:12 PM
Yeah, put those birds to work!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:53:16 PM
@Lizbot, cool on that pigeon in Monaco
Mary Jones 6:53:17 PM
@Lizbot I have high hopes for the fence! I picked another pumpkin today—I think I’m up to 6 or 7 sugar pumpkins.
Lizbot (host) 6:53:18 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I'm glad you enjoyed it and rediscovered it! I bought the single at a record fair about 25 years ago and I love it
Lizbot (host) 6:54:14 PM
@Mary Jones - oooh, are you gonna make a pie? That's, I have heard, the pie kinda pumpkin and not the stringy kinda bland craving pumpkin, designed to maximize size!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:51 PM
@Mary Jones - The côte d'azur was gorgeous, but I gotta say, the Mediterranean was pretty cold in August there! The calanques that got less sun were downright coooold. Some beaches were warm enough
Danosaur🦖 6:55:51 PM
@Lizbot - there was another French dance song by Dalida called Gigi in Paradisco that was pretty fun too.
Lizbot (host) 6:57:16 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Oooh, I need to write these all down to find later! I haven't heard that one either! I don't think I'll be doing Part Three of the French music theme, BUT I always love French music and of course incorporate into ++good on the regular
Ossy 6:57:56 PM
legendary barry white, got a song called "September"
Danosaur🦖 6:59:23 PM
@Lizbot - Those two songs would fit in to a regular show. They're just kooky dance songs
Mary Jones 6:59:32 PM
@Lizbot pies, casseroles, and pumpkin bisque!
Mary Jones 7:04:52 PM
Ok, my family’s sitting down to dinner—have a great night, everyone!
Danosaur🦖 7:06:17 PM
Gotta fly! Thanks for the music and chat. Have a good weekend

Lizbot (host) 7:13:12 PM
Hi michael gudgeon!
Lizbot (host) 7:16:16 PM
Hi Brian D! Oh nice! Yeah, I'm gonna stay over and visit Bell Laboratories with some friends who haven't been there before the next day. ALSO near The PNC Bank Arts Center is the InfoAge Museum, which is the home of WPRB's own old "Gates" studio console, which was in use at the station from its inception in 1940 through the mid-80s! A guy salvaged it when the station was replacing it. It lives in his basement for many years, and then he gave it back to us when we had our 75th Anniversary exhibit
Lizbot (host) 7:17:36 PM
@michael gudgeon - No one before or since sounded like Minnie! That soaring otherworldly voice! Yma Sumac had similar range, but very different style
Lizbot (host) 7:18:17 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - THnks for listening and hanging out!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:48 PM
@Mary Jones - Have a good dinner! That bisque sounds so warming and comforting to chilly me at the moment!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:13 PM
@Ossy - Oh yes, I've heard it! There was this one bar by my friend's house in Gray's Ferry that ALWAYS had on Barry White. It's gone now, sadly- the Star Track
michael gudgeon 7:40:17 PM
this song is real nice!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:22 PM
@michael gudgeon - Glad you're enjoying it!
Ossy 7:51:51 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:56:23 PM
