| Jon Higgins Varnam: Viriboni (Bhairavi) Pachimiriyam Adiappaiya Carnatic Music of India sung by Jon Higgins Bhagavatar Odeon Dr. Jon Borthwick Higgins (18 September 1939 – 7 December 1984) attended Wesleyan University, which had a strong ethnomusicology program including T. Ranganathan. In the early 60s (long before it was fashionable), he went to South India on a Fulbright scholarship to learn from T. Ranganathan's brother, T. Viswanathan. Higgins is the first non-Indian to perform Carnatic music with a high level of proficiency.

Raga Simhendramadhyamam
Simhendramadhyamam is the 57th melakarta ragam in the Carnatic system. This musical scale uses the notes chatushruti rishabham, sadharana gandharam, prati madhyamam, shuddha daivatam and kakali nishadham. It uses all 7 notes on the ascending and descending scales. It is also equivalent to Hungarian Minor Scale that is also called as Gypsy Minor Scale in Western Music.

She learnt music initially from her father Dr. Srinivasan, and later from Dr. S.Ramanathan and T. Muktha. Sowmya made her concert debut at the age 11.

| Shashank Subramanyam "Eppo varuvaro" - Jonpuri Gopalakrishna Bharati Moments of Ecstasy Sruthi Shashank Subramanyam was born on 14 October 1978 in Rudrapatna, Karnataka. He is widely acknowledged as a legend of the bamboo flute. His training has been mostly in vocal music, initially under his father, and then by Palghat K.V. Narayanaswami, and Hindustani music under Pandit Jasraj. He is largely self taught on the flute.

| Ashwini Bhide Deshpande Natbhairav Khayal Vocal Classical, Bilaskhani Todi, Natbhairav, Gujri Todi Alurkar Music House 2000 Born in Mumbai in 1960, she started her early classical training under the guidance of Narayanrao Datar, the elder brother of violinist D. K. Datar. She learned music in the Jaipur-Atrauli style from her mother Manik Bhide, a senior disciple of Kishori Amonkar. She also received guidance from Ratnakar Pai. She also holds a Master's degree in Microbiology and earned a doctorate in Biochemistry from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. | T. M. Krishna 'Pullagi Poondal" (Viruttam) - Ragamala SSVT Carnatic Music Concert SSVT 2003 Thodur Madabusi Krishna (born 22 January 1976) is a Carnatic vocalist, writer, and activist. Krishna's parents ensured that he received exposure to the classical arts from a young age.

Suryanarayana "Swara Raga Sudharasa" - Shankarabharanam Tyagaraja Gayathri Veena T-Series 1992 Rudrapatna Keshavamurthy Suryanarayana (1937-2003) played the "Gayathri veena", which apparently has 17 sympathetic strings like a sitar, but I could find no good photographs of the instrument from the proper angle.

He is a pioneer in performing Carnatic music on the electric guitar. He also plays jazz, progressive rock, and world fusion.

"Banaa" = bridegroom Folk music from Rajasthan performed by members of the Langa community. This song acknowledges members of the various castes for the role they play during the wedding ceremony. The song begins with the line "Praises be to the groom with the fair complexion", Later are a series of requests: good weaver, you are my brother, give me a beautiful scarf, good cowherd, give me a cow, good goldsmith, you are my brother, give me ornaments, etc. |
