Check out Califone in the indie film All My Friends are Funeral Singers.from about 15 yrs ago. Tim leader of Califone (and Red Red Meat etc) directed. The band plays the haunted ghost band of the house and they just drift into and out of scenes.

Doing deliveries when I was 18 or 19 in Philly and there was this old printing place in Chinatown with a rickety old freight elevator.. The operator was this old, black fella named Otis. Then he would have jazz blasting on this little old Sony radio. He was quite a character chainsmoking up a storm usually drunk. Ya well put together song. Whole album is a gem. Those little "songlets" moments under the 1 or 2 minute mark that Bob Pollard is famous for really make it a fun listen.

Ha at Wawa getting air. The pump just opened up. Yeah Otis was quite the character. That elevator ride up to a place called Entite Press. Yeah Otis would have this little old colored. I think it was blue or yellow Sony radio and I think that's when they first came out I think that's the first thing I remember. Anyway, he would have jazz blasting. I don't know where he got it from at the time this would've been the early 80s. But it was just like that Paul Bley thing.
