Gila was a Krautrock band around from 1969-1974, led by guitarist and singer Conny Veit. They managed two releases with totally different lineups. For their second LP, the Gila band included Florian Fricke (piano and mellotron), Daniel Fichelscher (bass and drums), and Sabine Merbach (minimal vocals). So this can be considered essentially a Popol Vuh side-project, but with Conny Veit as the main songwriter, guitarist and singer. (This 1973 release came in between Popol Vuh's "Hosianna Mantra" and "Seligpreisung".)

Hiromi Uehara (上原ひろみ) is a Japanese jazz composer and pianist, blending musical genres such as jazz, progressive rock, classical and fusion. After being a jingle writer for a few years for Japanese companies such as Nissan, she enrolled to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she was mentored by Ahmad Jamal.

Kurt Rosenwinkel was born in Philadelphia to a musical family in 1970. He began taking piano lessons when he was 9 years old. When he was 12, he began studying jazz guitar. Rosenwinkel attended the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with classmate Questlove. He is currently based in Berlin.

Noah Creshevshy (1945-2020) was an American composer. His aim was to create sound at once nearly human and tangentially electronic, but never fully one or the other. Allusions to Middle Eastern, Asian, and Western sacred, secular, popular, and classical instrumental and vocal music seek to produce hypothetical performers of indeterminate identity--simultaneously male and female, Western and non-Western, ancient and modern, familiar and unfamiliar.

Inspired by such diverse sources as rock, jazz, European folk and classical music (both ancient and modern), they have forged a distinctive sound as well as influencing a vast number of contemporary avant-garde bands and ensembles.

Art Zoyd was founded in Valenciennes, France in 1969, centered around composer and classically-trained violinist Gérard Hourbette and bassist Thierry Zaboitzeff. With each successive album, the rock aspect of their material slowly gave way to a blend of zeuhl and classical music, developing ever tenser and darker climates.
