GOOOOD morning!! Readie here! How goes it?!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:05:26 AM
Morning Readie! So happy to be able to catch your show!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:06:00 AM
Just sitting here applying for jobs and being grateful that it’s not gonna hit 90F today.
Readie Righteous (host) 10:09:39 AM
HEY addie! NICE!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:11:14 AM
HOw's the job search going, addie?
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:12:48 AM
Well, I haven’t had any outright rejections yet, but I haven’t heard back from anyone either. Have applications in at most of the area hospitals, as well as at UPenn. I know it takes forever but dang, I don’t have forever!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:14:18 AM
Of course ! Penn Med at Princeton/Plainsboro? Capital Health- Hopewell? I know it's farther out...but...
Readie Righteous (host) 10:16:44 AM
I've heard follow-ups are cool these days - cuz everyone's so busy, etc. it's cool to follow up...a lot
Readie Righteous (host) 10:17:46 AM
hiring managers pulled in so many directions
John Coffey 10:19:12 AM
Good morning Readie! Flashback to Thanksgiving circa 1971 and watching Oklahoma on national TV, CBS I believe. Shirly Jones was cute but it was Carousel Julie when I fell in love with her! R&H fan ever since.
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:19:34 AM
It’s hard to send follow ups when you’re just applying in a system and not sending things to a specific known hiring manager, unfortunately.
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:19:59 AM
But i will definitely send follow ups where possible!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:20:13 AM
Hi John! what a great memory! more R&H comin' round the bend!!!
John Coffey 10:20:37 AM
Saw the last Oklahoma show tour, very unique Americana feel to it.
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:21:14 AM
@ addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum Best wishes for the job search. These things are never easy, I know. Don't give up, and keep checking back at the hospitals! PS: Have you tried temporary employee agencies? I believe those that have a specialty in medical personnel can keep people like you fairly busy while you're looking for a full time position.
Readie Righteous (host) 10:21:37 AM
I hear that addie- it's too bad you can't get a name! dang! anyway - bet of luck!🤞
John Coffey 10:21:44 AM
Captain Sensible does a great version of Happy Talk.
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:22:05 AM
@Richard I weirdly hadn’t thought of applying through the temp agencies that serve Penn! I will do that now.
Beck Stein 10:22:21 AM
Can we hear some Classical Gas? Or perhaps Love is Blue by Paul Mariat??
Readie Righteous (host) 10:27:47 AM
Hi Beck! I may be able to squeeze it in-great recommendations!
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:28:22 AM
@ Readie Righteous (host) Thanks for playing Brenda Lee's "My Baby Likes Western Guys," penned by Jackie DeShannon. I don't think it's overanalyzing to find a subtext that the girl's boyfriend has a fascination with the stars of cowboy TV shows that goes deeper than just their shoot-'em-up heroics ...
Readie Righteous (host) 10:29:10 AM
Hi Richard- absolutely! very astute obsv!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:29:30 AM
et cetera... et cetera BAM
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:31:57 AM
There is a great topic for an academic article in a queer studies journal ~ if no one's done it already! ;-D
Readie Righteous (host) 10:33:26 AM
@Richard- I may have to do one! 😉
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:34:21 AM
Go for it!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:35:00 AM
lol! I have to get busy writing...it's been a minute...
Readie Righteous (host) 10:39:28 AM
BTW, the temp agencies really helped me back in the day- and I will say this- ALL of my temp jobs turned into permanent full time positions- which is to say - it IS possible!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:44:32 AM
Oh yes, it’s how I originally got into working at the hospital up here in VT. Definitely worth a look! Just sent my resume in to a couple of agencies.
Readie Righteous (host) 10:46:46 AM
cool, addie- I used J&J resources back in the day, they are still around -https://www.jjstaff.com/locations/princeton/ they have a Philly office too!
Beck Stein 10:47:02 AM
Thanks! Made my day!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:48:43 AM
Me too, Beck! one of my all-time faves!!!
dan Cochrane 10:48:44 AM
Monster one hit wonder! This and Pinball Wizard were why I took up guitar. The summer this was hot, the other huge hit was Jose Feliciano cover of “Light My Fire”. Thanks RR!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:49:42 AM
You bet, dan- thanks to Beck!!! I even played it on guitar back in the day...so awesome!! I still get thrills!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:50:01 AM
TAP BREAK!
Readie Righteous (host) 10:50:11 AM
Abbie from MARS this is for you!!
dan Cochrane 10:51:37 AM
Frank Coppola sings this in doc on the making of Apocolypse Now!, “Hearts Of Darkness” directed by his late wife, Elinor.
dan Cochrane 10:52:39 AM
Her journal from them is equally compelling to read.
dan Cochrane 10:54:42 AM
I think Sutton Foster won a Tony in the revival of Anything Goes. That number on YouTube, astonishing.
dan Cochrane 10:55:33 AM
Freudian Slop
Readie Righteous (host) 10:59:13 AM
Yes, Dan- there have been numerous revivals of Cole Porter's classic - my parents directed the original iteration way back in the early 60's - hence we kids learned all the words to those great shows!
dan Cochrane 11:00:28 AM
That’s so cool! Priest with Tommy Gun quite an image.
dan Cochrane 11:01:39 AM
That picture you posted is quite Cold War Art.
Readie Righteous (host) 11:02:15 AM
yep - I love the Po' boy thing
dan Cochrane 11:03:09 AM
I’d kill for one, fried oysters!
dan Cochrane 11:05:05 AM
You have one foot in Van Dyke Parks territory.
Readie Righteous (host) 11:05:16 AM

dan Cochrane 11:11:31 AM
You have GOT to see Fantastic Four! This set could have been the soundtrack, very Jetsons.
Readie Righteous (host) 11:12:03 AM
Really, dan? Fantastic Four? Have not seen it!
dan Cochrane 11:13:32 AM
Total Atomic Age design, top to bottom. So clever, funny. CGI baby nearly steals it.
Readie Righteous (host) 11:14:10 AM
I love mid-century modern style
dan Cochrane 11:14:15 AM
I’m not even into Marvel verse
Readie Righteous (host) 11:14:29 AM
wait a minute...
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:14:32 AM
Harry Belafonte's "Day-O (Banana Boat Song)" ... what a huge star he was, and what a mega hit was the Banana Boat Song was for him.
Readie Righteous (host) 11:16:00 AM
@Richard- when we were kids, our folks had Belafonte's "Streets I Have Walked" LP - a masterpiece of world music - and I fell in love with world languages as a result! Have you heard it, Richard?
Alan Parsec 11:16:03 AM
Hi Readie and all you fine chat peoples. Good Morning! Tuned in during the Day-O track!!
Readie Righteous (host) 11:16:20 AM
Perfect timing, Alan! welcome!
dan Cochrane 11:16:37 AM
“I gave my love a cherry, that had no stone…”
dan Cochrane 11:16:49 AM
Food FIGHT!
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:17:08 AM
The story goes, when Belafonte walked into the studio for the all-star 1985 "We Are The World" hunger benefit recording, the other notables greeted him with an impromptu "Day-O! Day-ay-ay-O!"
dan Cochrane 11:17:40 AM
Geez, Elephant Walk!
Readie Righteous (host) 11:17:53 AM
@Richard- very cool - I have yet to see the documentary of that! Must check it out later!
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:18:14 AM

I'm partial to the Chad and Jeremy version of if I Loved You, not as " Broadway-ey"
Alan Parsec 11:37:13 AM
Readie: I was saddened to hear that astronaut Jim Lovell passed away last Thursday. He is most famous for the first human trip to the moon (Apollo 8) in 1968, also the Apollo 13 mission. But it was his Gemini 7 longest duration flight (at the time) with Frank Borman, that he and Frank sang " He'll Have to Go" over and and over again.... for 14 days in space!!!
Readie Righteous (host) 11:38:40 AM
