@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - Oof, yeah I took Spanish in school and used it on various trips, but my French skills are nonexistent! I'm adjusting to the wildly different pronunciation. There are certain words that are spelled the same or very similarly in French to Spanish words I use a lot, so it's so hard to tempt to that French mode in my brain!

I'm trying to plan a trip too. I just need to come up with thousands of $$$., I've been considering going on a study tour for adults or work-study program. There's a program where you can take college courses on a cruise ship. That's the one I'm shooting for. It has a program for older adults like us.

Liz, knowing one Romance language really helps with learning another one in the same family. I transitioned into French pretty easily because I'd previously studied Spanish. But yeah, French pronunciation is something else. 😁

I studied French in grade school, skipped it in middle school (unlike my sister), took Spanish in 9th grade. In 10th & 11th grade we were in Italy so I took Spanish 2 and Italian 1 that first year. It was slightly confusing learning both languages at the same time

I understand Italian better after learning Spanish and French (in that order). It's a combo of Spanish and French, pretty much. Of course, as a classically trained pianist, I learned Italian words from classical music.

Yeah, my sister-in-law, the one who's getting married to a Frenchman in August (and reason for our trip) said the other day she's glad she learned French first in school and Spanish later in life because she finds Spanish pronunciation a lot easier to deal with and French comes easy to her from studying it young for years..and of course having a French fiancé does not hurt!

That Pigs song reminds me of a hiking trip. We hiked up the Tobermory Trail in Canada and had to hitchhike back to our car when we were done. Some farmers pulling a trailer stopped for us and we asked if we should throw our packs in the trailer and he said, "Oh, you don't want to do that it full of shit."

It belonged to my husband's little siblings and they had a goofy game I don't know was very well-known called "Cubeivore" You played a cube with a face, trying to reproduce more cubes and eat defeat smaller cubes, and the sun was a cube that abruptly fell outta the sky each dusk, at which point your cube guy would fall asleep for the night and the gave would save

@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - For real! Yeah, my brother definitely influenced some of my early prog exposure. But then he never took a deeper dive into that stuff. He was three years older and we swapped albums all the time

I was the only kid who listened to that stuff. I mostly listened to my uncle's and my dad's record collections. Tons of prog rock and classic rock.

@FME - Yeah, my dad didn't even know the term "prog", he was a folky and of a much older generation, but my brother loved Genesis, Rush (not my thing), and some other bigger prog bands. He never got into Yes, though. I liked them later
