Citizen Caddle 5:11:25 PM
they are so insane
Lizbot (host) 5:15:19 PM
@Citizen Caddle - Tarred and Feathered would've been a good one to play for my DoublePluckGoose with LizSquawk membership drive show a couple years ago! But I played Flap Off you Beak by Cardiacs during that!
Citizen Caddle 5:16:14 PM
LOL!!! YESSSS!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:19 PM
@Citizen Caddle - They're so perfectly spastic
Ted 5:16:20 PM
Do you know the UK band Silvery? It’s like Sparks and Cardiacs had a baby. Silvery isn’t as good as either but they’re enjoyable.
Lizbot (host) 5:16:24 PM
Hi Ted!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:07 PM
@Ted - No, but you've sold me on that description alone!
Citizen Caddle 5:17:28 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:19:09 PM
@Ted - Seems like there's a couple bands called Silvery. Was the one you're talking about formed around 2004? I'm seeing that and another one on discogs. The '04 one is def british, the other doesn't specify

Liz - Based on random google searches, I think Tara lent her voice in one of TMNT cartoons, for Raphael to be next to her lol
Lizbot (host) 5:38:33 PM
@Ossy - Ah! I figured, based on that photo, that she might've voiced a character!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:39:51 PM

Citizen Caddle 5:40:22 PM
@Lizbot - just meant tapping out of the naming... will be listening full show ;) Just cooking dinner and computer off in the side room... great show so far love the variety

Cool mix today!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:09 PM
@Ossy - Tara Jayne! I'll have to keep an eye out for that name in cartoon credits as well
Lizbot (host) 5:44:07 PM
@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - Thanks! The show is definitely on the weirder side today! I woke up kinda hyper and still caffeinated from the night before and craving spazzy weird stuff!
Ted 5:45:29 PM
This Silvery did the Thunderer and Excelsior album in 2008.
Lizbot (host) 5:47:18 PM
@Ted - Ah, thanks! I'll check them out!
Ted 5:52:47 PM
They covered Talent Is An Asset pretty well.
John Coffey 5:53:01 PM
Hi Lizbot, quick stop on chat to say I’ve enjoyed the first hour. Gotta step out for date night!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:19 PM
Hi John Coffey!
Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) 5:54:55 PM
@Liz I definitely need caffeinated music since I have a rush project due tomorrow and some paperwork for a doctor's appointment. So I'm multitasking right now. Long live multitasking! LOL!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:00 PM
@Ted - Oooh, they even covered Sparks, and one of my all-time favorite Sparks songs, at that! They automatically get more points in my book!
Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) 5:55:15 PM
Music to keep me up all day to get work done!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:23 PM
@John Coffey - Thanks for listening! Have a fun night out!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:55 PM
@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - Ack! (Delivered in classic "Cathy" Sunday "funnies" style) Good luck on yr project!
Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) 5:58:41 PM
@Liz TYVM! :) I totally forgot about good ol' Cathy! :D
Lizbot (host) 5:59:09 PM
@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - I wonder if I'll suddenly hit a wall energy-wise. This is what happens when I drink caffeine: I'm so sensitive to it, IF i even sleep at all within 12 hours after drinking, I don't sleep much and I have vivid dreams, and then I'm STILL wired when I get up. I gotta drive to NYC directly after my show so I can pick my kid up from camp tomorrow morning, so I hope the caffeine at least carries me through to about 10 pm tonight!
Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) 6:00:32 PM
@Liz Getting caffeinated makes total sense for long-distance driving! I'm sensitive to caffeine too. Coffee smells great, but ugh, the jitters are a killer!
Lizbot (host) 6:01:38 PM
@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - One of my favorite podcasters/investigative journalists/pop-culture writers, Jaime Loftus, did a whole podcast on the history of the "Cathy" comic, not because she found it funny, but because of its cultural relevance. It was so huge in the 80s, with slogans, shirts, fridge magnets everywhere, and was for a very long time one of the very few nationally. syndicated comics by a woman.
Ted 6:04:11 PM
Tonight is that free Todd Rundgren concert in Pennsauken. I’m sacrificing him in favor of Lez Zeppelin in Lititz on Saturday.
Lizbot (host) 6:05:00 PM
@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - And I LOVE that one of Jaime Loftus' "Cathy" podcast episodes was called "Guisewite Shut"! (Cathy was written and based on the life of cathy guisewite
Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) 6:06:16 PM
@Liz Interesting piece of info! You got me Googling it. :D
Lizbot (host) 6:06:39 PM
@Ted - I know! My friend Nick texted me a reminder earlier today! I'm so sad it's on a Thursday night, otherwise I would be there! Even so, I have to pick up my kid from a camp in NYC tomorrow morning, so since I have to be in Princeton right now anyway, I'm gonna just drive straight to NYC from the studio since I can't make Rundgren anyway, stay the night at a family member's, and wake to some solidly good bagels
Lizbot (host) 6:07:06 PM
@Ted - Would love to check out Lez Zeppelin some time too. I love their name!
Ted 6:18:34 PM
They’re playing a small venue in a remote location I’ve never visited. They have Jimmy Page’s blessing.

Adam Ant was big time middle school music for me too. Bowie too. Right when Let's Dance came out I deep dove into his albums thanks to friends & older siblings of friends. Raided their collection. blank tapes in hand.
Lizbot (host) 6:37:26 PM
@Brian D - I am glad you are here to update me on all these Weenish product offerings because a good friend and Boognish acolyte is having a birthday song, and barring finding her a t-shirt commemorating the demolition of Veteran's Stadium she & I stayed up all night, tweaked up on Sparks energy drinks, so be awake for the demolition at the crack of dawn, I need novel Ween items she may not already have!
Brian D 6:38:37 PM
Well they have some really good discounted shirt deals for a more frugal purchase or 2.

Brian D 6:40:24 PM
Saw Adam Ant on his Strip tour. Big glass cube filled with water on stage. I think he stripped down to shiny black tighty shorts. Adam loved a good show and generating that scream factor.
Lizbot (host) 6:40:43 PM
@andrew g - I assume you're referring to the Beat My Guest song at 6:30. I saw Adam Ant live once, at the TLA, years ago. He had made his look significantly more pirate-y, and a large gaggle of women were screaming at him in the front row
Bukowski's cigarette 🚬 6:41:30 PM
.. thanks for the Ran-Dells, a real classic ..
Lizbot (host) 6:42:07 PM
@Brian D - Mmm, glass cube. Sounds appealing and smooth. I demand more of a cube presence on stage in all future shows
Lizbot (host) 6:42:17 PM
Hi Bukowski's cigarette 🚬!
Brian D 6:42:18 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:43:58 PM
@Alex Crowe - It's futile to resist their appeal! Frankie's coming to Union Transfer on Sept. 20th
Brian D 6:44:31 PM
Ya Liz, it was like a dunk tank at the fair the glass cube. Minus the throwing softballs at the paddle to get him to dunk into the water. He did it willingly. Got in the glass cube filled with water, fully up past the head. Got out and he was all shiny. Caught the light well I guess. All part of that show.
Lizbot (host) 6:45:11 PM
I love this DEVO theme for the movie Doctor Detroit, but I started watching the movie once as a teen, and meeeeeh.
Brian D 6:45:48 PM
I remember Doctor Detroit ha. Aykroyd flick. Some laughs. The "Mom" character that was the mob boss, she was fun
Lizbot (host) 6:47:02 PM
@Brian D - haha, Adam is easy. No persuading needed. he wanted to get those leather pants wet. Probably enjoyed it more than Thom Yorke did all panicky and drowning himself in that water tank in the "No Surprises" video
Brian D 6:48:34 PM
Reading now... Kate Murtagh played "Mom" in Doctor Detroit. Some good roles. And a famous rock album cover photo shoot: Supertramp Breakfast in America as the diner waitress
Lizbot (host) 6:48:54 PM
@Brian D - Did you attend any of the Serious Moonlight tour concerts in middle school?
Brian D 6:49:15 PM
Oh Adam was done with long pants by that point of the show. But yes, "pants" in the UK meaning. He had the shiny tighty swimsuit trunks on by then.
Lizbot (host) 6:50:46 PM
@Brian D - I love that Supertramp album cover - completely iconic 70s album art, and feels so nostalgic and very Americana, even though they were British.
Brian D 6:50:54 PM
I really really wanted to go to the Philly Spectrum Serious Moonlight Bowie show. Could not make it happen. But next best thing, that tour had a broadcast on cable that I watched many times. The twin brother background singers/hype men/dancers. Good band that. Shame Stevie Ray Vaughn could not make it but Earl Slick is no slouch on the guitar.

@Brian D - I mean, Dan Aykroyd, Howard Hesseman, Lynn Whitfield, Fran Drescher, and Donna Dixon...great cast. Not so great movie
Brian D 6:52:41 PM
Yeah it does not hold up at all. I tried to watch it sometime in past 20 years and did not finish it at all
Brian D 6:55:29 PM
Watched Meatballs sometime in past 20 years and that was a strange experience. There's a meme or Venn diagram there where the teen "you" remembers Meatballs as 99% SEX, TEENS, WACKY BILL MURRAY, TONS OF LAUGHS!!! But wait 30-40 years and the reality is ... 99% sad acoustic folk songs play while a lonely kid at camp walks by himself in the woods and does not talk much.

@Brian D "I really really wanted to go to the Philly Spectrum Serious Moonlight Bowie show" I was there; in fact, in the Modern Love video, when he throws the flowers into the audience, I was right next to the girl he threw them to ... check out the doc "Sigma Kids" - I was with Patti, the owner of Doobies and one of the Sigma Kids

Hi Lizbot!!!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:14 PM
@Randy Marthins - Chevy Metal! ha!
Randy Marthins 7:05:51 PM
We SO miss Taylor in this house
Lizbot (host) 7:06:35 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh wow! I have to rewatch Modern Love video to look for you! I remember reading an interview with Patti of Doobies (I used to live a couple blocks from Doobies and my friend Sharon bartended there) when that Sigma Kids doc came out
Randy Marthins 7:07:09 PM
I was writing vs arting, which is equally hard to chat along, sorry
Randy Marthins 7:08:34 PM
I lived down the street at 22nd Pine; Sharon prob came along LONG after I worked there
Randy Marthins 7:09:18 PM
As did you, by math
Lizbot (host) 7:10:06 PM
@Brian D - haha, I KNOW! I rewatched Meatballs about four years ago for the first time since I was a kid. I remembered it as being too dirty for my kid to watch. It was NOT what I remembered at ALL, but I really enjoyed it! Bill Murray's "It Just DOESN'T MATTER" speech scene was great!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:19 PM
@Randy Marthins - oh yeah, I'm sure! Sharon worked there in the early to late 2000s! I lived in a studio on 16th & Spruce for a chunk of my 20s
Randy Marthins 7:11:36 PM
"All the rich kids..." resonates for a poor kid living in a wealthy SJ town
Randy Marthins 7:12:07 PM
Oh, I was long gone by then, sorry
Lizbot (host) 7:13:17 PM
@Randy Marthins - Yeah I figured! haha, I grew up the kid of poorly-paid public school teachers in preppy Haddonfield, South Jersey! I can relaye
Lizbot (host) 7:13:32 PM
@Randy Marthins - *relate!
Brian D 7:13:37 PM
Old band I was in used to play Fergie's Pub a couple times a year back in late 90s. Right in that area
Randy Marthins 7:14:41 PM
Hey, it's mick Jones b/d today (nice, even 70) can ya do something about that?
Randy Marthins 7:15:21 PM
The Clash NOT foreigner, as if
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:16:25 PM
Happy birthday to Mick Jones of The Clash. I didn't realize that he was so young
Brian D 7:16:42 PM
Ha! Thought so. The Foreigner touring band now has no original members. I think that non interesting Mick has illness that prevents him from touring. I heard about people paying some strange amount of money to see Foreigner in last year or 2 and thought hmmmm...
Randy Marthins 7:17:23 PM
"Right in that area" I think I've mentioned before that a lot of the bars that I'd go to were near hospitals (Graduate, UPenn, Jefferson) - I 'dated' a bunch of nurses
Ted 7:17:39 PM
If you watch XTC’s MP4Nigel video, Andy looks just like Tim Smith with the garish lipstick and demented grin. Coincidence?
Brian D 7:18:11 PM
And I posted to them something like "If the band Foreigner were a sovereign nation then the current band would consist of all .... (you guessed it "
Randy Marthins 7:18:29 PM
"I didn't realize that he was so young" joes been gone for 20 years, he was only 50 when he passed
Randy Marthins 7:19:43 PM
Taylor Hawkins was also 50; he looked 30, Joe looked ... well, 50 LOL
Brian D 7:20:19 PM
Someone posted that meme of "Remember when you thought, Traveling Wilburys? What a bunch of old guys!" and then their ages at the time are listed: Dylan 47, Lynne 41, Petty 37, Orbison 52, Harrison 45.
Lizbot (host) 7:20:48 PM
@Brian D - Ah, what was it called??
Brian D 7:21:21 PM
Liz: what was what called ?
Randy Marthins 7:21:42 PM
Mr Softee? That's cruel!!!
Lizbot (host) 7:21:55 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh man, okay we'll see! I love The Clash and would love to celebrate Mick, but also have a buncha songs queued. We'll see!
Ossy 7:22:19 PM
I heard this version before....and classic ice cream neighborhood noise!!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 7:22:55 PM
This one really makes me happy!
Randy Marthins 7:23:18 PM
The creamiest, dreamiest soft ice cream You get from Mister Softee For a refreshing delight supreme Look for Mister Softee My milkshakes and my sundaes and my cones are such a treat Listen for my store on wheels, ding-a-ling down the street The creamiest, dreamiest soft ice cream You get from Mister Softee For a refreshing delight supreme Look for Mister Softee S-O-F-T Double 'E', Mister Softee
Lizbot (host) 7:23:40 PM
@Brian D - I find it so unnerving when bands have no original members ,but then I guess there are exceptions, like the many generations of Isley Brothers...I wonder who will replace Marshall Allen, who's 101!, when he passes! Who will replace the Sun Ra replacement?!
Randy Marthins 7:23:56 PM
No sweat Liz!!! Another time
Alex Crowe 7:24:22 PM
I genuinely jumped up thinking the ice cream truck was outside!
Brian D 7:24:41 PM
I think there is a touring version of the Ventures that only has the drummer's son (Leon Taylor son of Mel). Everyone in the original and later lineups is gone now.
Lizbot (host) 7:24:56 PM
@Randy Marthins - I MIGHt still get to it, but I wish I'd known earlier in the program because now is the point in the show where I'm scrambling to fit in a buncha songs I thought I'd have time to get to!
Lizbot (host) 7:25:24 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - rrrrrrrrrawwwrrrrr.SHARK DRIVE! Just in time for JAWS 50th anniversay!
Brian D 7:25:44 PM
We had the "O'Boyle's Ice Cream" truck in Bucks County 70s-80s. Butterscotchy yellow, white and blue stripe trucks.
Casey Leigh 7:26:18 PM
we're back to thursdays again?? I've been slacking on my schedule watching. Hellooooo!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:27:30 PM
@Brian D @ 7:16, "In February 2024, [Mick] Jones revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease years back, citing this as his reason for not touring with Foreigner since 2023.[10]"
Lizbot (host) 7:27:37 PM
Hi Casey Leigh! Been a long time! Yes! Back on Thursdays!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:28:26 PM
*from wikipedia
Lizbot (host) 7:29:04 PM
@Brian D - I at first thought "Butterscotchy Yellow" was the name of a flavor and got excited at the prospect of that
Casey Leigh 7:29:41 PM
I actually got my donor gifts today, which feels bittersweet since I had to cancel my subscription after losing my job. I tried to hold out as long as I could without cancelling, but Jon told me not to sweat it and good luck with the job search
Casey Leigh 7:30:10 PM
<3 y'all have always been there for me so it felt like the right thing to support. I will again someday soon.
Lizbot (host) 7:30:24 PM
@Alex Crowe - haha, I love OCDJ's use of Mr. Softee's theme. An obscure Baltimore musician that is no longer. Mr Softee's fleet of trucks was headquartered near my childhood home in South Jersey growing up. The founder was from the area!
Brian D 7:31:34 PM
I remember the fake Deep Purple story and the fake Zombies story happening back in the early 80s. Local Bucks Co paper rock columnist did a good dive into the fraud bands and tried to warn people.
Lizbot (host) 7:31:35 PM
@Randy Marthins - Mr. Softee had a way better jingle than most other ice cream trucks! The competitors had boring uninspired tunes like "Turkey In the Straw"! Boo!
Brian D 7:31:50 PM
Read more about the Deep Purple one decades later and that was just crazy. Way before the internet era. People got duped and bought tickets to "bands" that had no original members at all. Now.... it IS the internet era and people could find out about it... and they STILL buy tickets to bands with no original members!
Lizbot (host) 7:32:12 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - Oh now I realize you were probably talking aout the ice cream song making you happy! I thought at first it was Shark Drive!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:17 PM
@Casey Leigh - oh no! Sorry about yr job! I hope the donor gifts were a bright spot in the day. Wishing you luck in your search!
Ted 7:33:47 PM
Mr Softee theme is The Whistler And His Dog. Have I mentioned that in the past?
Lizbot (host) 7:33:54 PM
@Brian D - haha, Deep Fake Purple!
Lizbot (host) 7:34:15 PM
@Ted - Ah, I think you have and I completely forgot! I am a fan!
Casey Leigh 7:37:26 PM
It really did. the sad part of my brain tried to convince me I didn't deserve it but I truly can't say enough about how much it meant to get it today
Matt Sabbath 7:37:44 PM
Ween, Bourbonese Qualk, Dr. Detroit! Great selections, dj!
Casey Leigh 7:38:30 PM
Yesssss Ween! The Mollusk just turned 28 this week!!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:11 PM
Hi Matt Sabbath!
Brian D 7:41:41 PM
Kim Smoltz: the dreamy synth led instrumental from the Mollusk Sessions outtakes. Good stuff. As are others that did not make it to the official release.
Matt Sabbath 7:42:02 PM
that BQ album has many gems on it
Lizbot (host) 7:42:19 PM
@Matt Sabbath - Thanks!
Matt Sabbath 7:42:29 PM
Brian D classic song!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:48 PM
@Casey Leigh - aw! I'm glad to hear that! You do deserve it!
George Korein 7:43:24 PM
Deepfake Purple 👏
Casey Leigh 7:43:43 PM
crrrrying thank you <3 I know I dont have to say it, but anytime I feel lost, WPRB has always been there for me
Lizbot (host) 7:44:08 PM
@Casey Leigh - Nice! And I was in LBI, recording place of The Mollusk, this past weekend for the first time this year! I'm glad I played Ocean Man in the car while down there, though I didn't realize it was The Mollusk's birthday! I should've driven down to Holgate!
Brian D 7:44:34 PM
Mentioned b4 but was at a party at the farm they rented that year of the Mollusk era or so and Aaron borrowed my mandolin for a minute while sitting on the stoop there. Said, this is a new song. Played and sang it. It was Ocean Man. Loved it. Had no idea it would go on to have quite the song life it did.
Casey Leigh 7:45:37 PM
that's amazing! I used to live in New Hope and it was always exciting to see Mickey pop up around town
Lizbot (host) 7:46:44 PM
@Casey Leigh - Aw, man. I'm just glad to be there! I know you've been listening for ages and are a crucial part of this community!
Brian D 7:47:13 PM
Byoak Farm in Holicong Pa. Located right down the road from that famous named strip shopping center.... BUCKINGHAM GREEENNNN
Brian D 7:49:32 PM
Hallo Dalí
Lizbot (host) 7:49:52 PM
@George Korein - Okay, now someone needs to start a Deep Purple cover band called Deep Fake Purple
Lizbot (host) 7:50:13 PM
@Brian D - I love it! Ween LORE! Legendary!
Brian D 7:50:14 PM
YESSSS!
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 7:50:50 PM
Hello Dolly’s tune always brings to mind the square dancing I had to do for a solid 6 weeks every school year.

Thanks for listening, Alex Crowe!
Randy Marthins (1) 7:52:58 PM
Hey, there a way to gift a subscription to @casey? So she doesn't lose "access?" Let's think on that
Lizbot (host) 7:53:26 PM
@Ossy - smells of tangy cheese and larceny!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:47 PM
@andrew g - haha, i think that might be my favorite King Missile song. Always makes me laugj
Randy Marthins (1) 7:53:53 PM
Ow wow- my icon changed? How'd THAT happen?
andrew g 7:54:34 PM
that was the song that made me a fan! fyi king missile is playing in brooklyn in a couple o' weeks
Randy Marthins (1) 7:54:48 PM
The green one is the GOOD one, but the black one has its charm, too
Lizbot (host) 7:54:55 PM
@addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum - SAME! Camden Country Public Schools were for some inscrutable reason very concerned with elementary school kids knowing how to squaredance!
Randy Marthins (1) 7:55:58 PM
Squaredancing in CATHOLIC school in CT; why?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:55:58 PM
We've enjoyed your show tonight, @Lizbot, especially this Warthog song. Thanks and goodnight!
