This is what happens when I drink caffeine: I'm so sensitive to it, IF i even sleep at all within 12 hours after drinking, I don't sleep much and I have vivid dreams, and then I'm STILL wired when I get up. I gotta drive to NYC directly after my show so I can pick my kid up from camp tomorrow morning, so I hope the caffeine at least carries me through to about 10 pm tonight!

@Fried Monkey Eggs (Monkey Jelly) - One of my favorite podcasters/investigative journalists/pop-culture writers, Jaime Loftus, did a whole podcast on the history of the "Cathy" comic, not because she found it funny, but because of its cultural relevance. It was so huge in the 80s, with slogans, shirts, fridge magnets everywhere, and was for a very long time one of the very few nationally. syndicated comics by a woman.

Tonight is that free Todd Rundgren concert in Pennsauken. I’m sacrificing him in favor of Lez Zeppelin in Lititz on Saturday.

Ya Liz, it was like a dunk tank at the fair the glass cube. Minus the throwing softballs at the paddle to get him to dunk into the water. He did it willingly. Got in the glass cube filled with water, fully up past the head. Got out and he was all shiny. Caught the light well I guess. All part of that show.

I love this DEVO theme for the movie Doctor Detroit, but I started watching the movie once as a teen, and meeeeeh.

I really really wanted to go to the Philly Spectrum Serious Moonlight Bowie show. Could not make it happen. But next best thing, that tour had a broadcast on cable that I watched many times. The twin brother background singers/hype men/dancers. Good band that. Shame Stevie Ray Vaughn could not make it but Earl Slick is no slouch on the guitar.

Watched Meatballs sometime in past 20 years and that was a strange experience. There's a meme or Venn diagram there where the teen "you" remembers Meatballs as 99% SEX, TEENS, WACKY BILL MURRAY, TONS OF LAUGHS!!! But wait 30-40 years and the reality is ... 99% sad acoustic folk songs play while a lonely kid at camp walks by himself in the woods and does not talk much.

@Alex Crowe - haha, I love OCDJ's use of Mr. Softee's theme. An obscure Baltimore musician that is no longer. Mr Softee's fleet of trucks was headquartered near my childhood home in South Jersey growing up. The founder was from the area!

I remember the fake Deep Purple story and the fake Zombies story happening back in the early 80s. Local Bucks Co paper rock columnist did a good dive into the fraud bands and tried to warn people.

@Randy Marthins - Mr. Softee had a way better jingle than most other ice cream trucks! The competitors had boring uninspired tunes like "Turkey In the Straw"! Boo!

Read more about the Deep Purple one decades later and that was just crazy. Way before the internet era. People got duped and bought tickets to "bands" that had no original members at all. Now.... it IS the internet era and people could find out about it... and they STILL buy tickets to bands with no original members!

@Casey Leigh - Nice! And I was in LBI, recording place of The Mollusk, this past weekend for the first time this year! I'm glad I played Ocean Man in the car while down there, though I didn't realize it was The Mollusk's birthday! I should've driven down to Holgate!

Mentioned b4 but was at a party at the farm they rented that year of the Mollusk era or so and Aaron borrowed my mandolin for a minute while sitting on the stoop there. Said, this is a new song. Played and sang it. It was Ocean Man. Loved it. Had no idea it would go on to have quite the song life it did.

that's amazing! I used to live in New Hope and it was always exciting to see Mickey pop up around town
