HELLO HELLO! Hope you're having a good extra-warm & bright spring day!

oh yes espesh now!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:40 PM
Hi michael gudgeon!
Number 6 5:04:18 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:25 PM
@michael gudgeon - YAH! Bright, warm and loud in studio1
Lizbot (host) 5:04:32 PM
Hi Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:01 PM
@Number 6 - How goes it?
Number 6 5:05:03 PM
You've got mail!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:59 PM
@Number 6 - Intriguing...Checking now
Number 6 5:06:15 PM
Did they fix the AC there yet?
Lizbot (host) 5:06:54 PM
@Number 6 - Nope! Still TOASTY! Fan was on, but I turned it off for mic break
Number 6 5:07:54 PM
Hope they get it fixed soon!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:26 PM
@Number 6 - Oooh, nice! A Ruffed Grouse awaiting me in the drawer!
Andrew G 5:09:38 PM
hiya
Lizbot (host) 5:09:50 PM
Hi Andrew Ghee!
Number 6 5:10:38 PM
Apparently the WPRB fox is native to PA too!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:05 PM
I swear that last song and the intro to this one are the most metal/hardcore the show is getting today...probably
Andrew G 5:12:13 PM
jogging is so uplifting though
Lizbot (host) 5:12:42 PM
@Number 6 - Nice! The WPRB Fox AND the regular old red fox are also native to my backyard in Philly! Once I moved close to the Wissahickon, there are foxes constantly trotting around my yard, especially in the spring and fall!
Andrew G 5:12:52 PM
the song, NOT the activity!
Lizbot (host) 5:14:33 PM
@Andrew Ghee - True! It feels like a rallying cry by Dawson to get outside, even if it's just to not be locked in a doom-scroll, jogging aside! Easier said than done, but this time of year gets me going to way more outdoor events!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:39 PM
@Andrew Ghee - Dawson came to Johnny Brenda's a year or two ago, but I already had tickets for a different show that night (don't even remember which now) and was torn, but skipped Dawson. Regret missing him, he doesn't come often!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:04 PM
SUPER hype Guerilla Toss up next. Saw them at PhilaMOCA but back when they way more of a noise band
Andrew G 5:17:34 PM
I saw him around that time at union pool on my 50th birthday! I don't go to a lot of solo shows, and he was so amazing
Lizbot (host) 5:18:46 PM
@Andrew Ghee - Nice! Yeah, I really admire him. That album he did with the FInnish band, Circle, was great too!
Lizbot (host) 5:20:54 PM
@Number 6 - Thanks for the wildlife guide!
Andrew G 5:21:41 PM
ponytail!!! doublepluschaos today!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:29 PM
@Andrew Ghee - haha, I told you it'd be a H Y P E show! I also love to break this album out on the first drive down the shore of the year!

Lizbot (host) 5:36:19 PM
Hi George Korein! Mysterious Ways came out a year after The Fall's Telelphone Thing, so maybe U2 was influenced by it or maybe it was a coincidence, but I imagine Mark E. Smith sneering at the comparison from the great beyond!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:45 PM
@Christine 𓅓 - Did you get your SPARKS at The Keswick tickets yet?!
George Korein 5:36:54 PM
I can hear that sneer from here
Lizbot (host) 5:37:36 PM
@George Korein - Mark E. Smith unleashes a classic on-stage meltdown from the grave and laser-beams it towards Bono
Christine 𓅓 5:42:15 PM
@LizBot, I didn't due to budgetary constraints. But I will be there in spirit with Ron & Russell and the adoring crowd!

@jimbooooo, lol
George Korein 5:46:04 PM
Backstreet’s! Back! Curved Air!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:59 PM
Hi jimbooooo!
Lizbot (host) 5:47:52 PM
@jimboooo - oooh, I wanna be a woman in Prague 🇨🇿! Almost was the summer of 2024 when I was a 2-hour drive from Prague, but just couldn't fit it in with enough time to see much of anything!
Lizbot (host) 5:49:39 PM
@Christine 𓅓 - I will be thinking of you and all Sparks-loving listeners! have you heard any of the new album yet?
Lizbot (host) 5:52:19 PM
@George Korein - Haha, oh man, I guess you should make a "Backstreet's Back" Curved Air mash-up, or rather, let's keep the Backstreet Boys out of it ENTIRELY and just make it Backstreet Luv in the style of 90s boy-groups...How can that go wrong? How can that go right?
Number 6 5:52:28 PM
This group sounds like Missing Persons.
Lizbot (host) 5:53:52 PM
@Christine 𓅓 - Oh yes! I have done it before on air on occasion, but that was one of my live in-person DJing specialties when I used to do live in-person DJ club nights like my own recurring "Girl Gone Feral" or guesting for "Sugar Town" nights. These haven't happened in a loooong time!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:01 PM
@Number 6 - The Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Yeah, I can see some comparison between Kate O.'s voice and Dale Bozzio's
Christine 𓅓 6:00:05 PM
@Lizbot 🤖, I love to hear it!
Lizbot (host) 6:04:16 PM
@Christine 𓅓 - It was fun, but I most club nights I did before I had a kid! I did friends/family weddings, but declined offers for other people's weddings. It's really fun but so much set up and break down. Maybe I'll start it again when the kid's grown up. I did women in prog at Sara Sherr's long-running "Sugar Town" events, which are no longer. Most were at the old Tritone on 15th & South Street, but sometimes Balcony Bar or other venues. Sara focused those events on women/femme artists & DJs
Number 6 6:08:33 PM
PSB have a lot of great songs!
Lizbot (host) 6:09:35 PM
@Number 6 - True! And a lot of over-the-top costume changes! I saw them with New Order at The Mann a few summers ago and Neil T wore a very silvery suit and had a coupla quick changes!
Number 6 6:10:58 PM
Cool!
Alex Crowe 6:12:46 PM
Hey Lizbot! Was this Donna Summer released in spring? I'm feeling a big synergy/flashback with the weather.
Lizbot (host) 6:14:10 PM
Hey Alex Crowe! I would not be surprised! Well, warm weather anyway! July 2nd 1977! ALMOST my birthday!
Lizbot (host) 6:14:40 PM
@Alex Crowe - I was/am invigorated and inspired by this sudden warm weather to make an upbeat playlist for today!
Alex Crowe 6:15:25 PM
@ Lizbot. It's working! I feel 20 again.
Lizbot (host) 6:22:52 PM
@Alex Crowe - EXCELLENT! Glad the spell is working!
Dennis Thingg 6:28:24 PM
Hey lizbot hey chat!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:49 PM
Hi Dennis Lingg!
DubNP* 6:28:53 PM
Great depeche song.
Dennis Thingg 6:29:09 PM
Oh jeez, I need a new name.
Lizbot (host) 6:29:37 PM
@Dennis Lingg - I'm so used to being on the same day MVM comes out, I was about to ask you which movie you're covering today! Well, which this week?
Lizbot (host) 6:30:19 PM
@DubNP* - Yes! Love DP! Caught them on their most recent tour at Wells Fargo. Great show!
Lizbot (host) 6:30:40 PM
@Dennis Lingg - Your name is displaying normally!
Dennis Thingg 6:31:56 PM
All Of Me, the Steve Martin/Lilly Tomlin flick
Number 6 6:32:29 PM
@Lizbot- I have a brochure for the spy museum in DC if you want it.
Lizbot (host) 6:33:59 PM
@Number 6 - hmmm, not famliar with that museum, but if it existed when my brother & I were kids, he absolutely would have insisted we go there during our annual D.C. visits while my parents attended national Teachers Convention! He always insisted on Air & Space Museum (I love that place) and FBI museum (Not so much for me!)
Lizbot (host) 6:34:35 PM
@Dennis Lingg - OH MAN. OKAY, i was weirdly obsessed with that movie as a kid and watched it A LOT
Lizbot (host) 6:35:11 PM
@Number 6 - Sure, I'll take it! I'll send it to my brother haha
Lizbot (host) 6:36:47 PM
@Dennis Thingg - It's largely because I loved and had to see every Steve Martin movie as a kid, and I simultaneously loved and had to see every Lily Tomlin movie, so them together in a movie broke my young mind
Lizbot (host) 6:37:41 PM
@Dennis Thingg - I tried watching it for the first time as an adult many years ago with the thought in mind that I'd screen it to see if it might make sense to recommend to Hattie, but it hit very differently as an adult!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:34 PM
Oh Mark E. Smith, if you only knew. We well and truly are in a mess!
Number 6 6:40:43 PM
The spy museum is relatively new, maybe the last 10 years?
Lizbot (host) 6:41:42 PM
@Number 6 - Well that explains it! My older brother loved spies and spy movies, which is why I've seen every Bond movie from Dr. No through to the early 90s when he went off to college
Number 6 6:44:58 PM
My fav TV series was Mission Impossible.
Lizbot (host) 6:47:38 PM
@Number 6 - That was a good show! Seemed the device delivering the mission always got tossed into a public trashcan before it imploded!
Andrew G 6:50:05 PM
I've been listening to the Mice a lot lately, especially this song!
Lizbot (host) 6:51:08 PM
@Andrew Ghee - oh god, yeah. Supremely cathartic!
Ossy 6:54:37 PM
hi lizbot
Lizbot (host) 6:54:58 PM
Hello Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 6:56:10 PM
@Ossy - I hope you're enjoying this lovely spring day!
Ossy 7:00:31 PM
oh yeah, a great springy day to lift the bad moods :)
Lizbot (host) 7:02:34 PM
@Ossy - Yes! Lots of blooming trees and bushes. My hot pink azalea just bloomed, which makes me very happy. A super bright splotch in the corner of my yard. You gotta take the wins where you can get them!
Lizbot (host) 7:03:31 PM
It's a Fall-tastic day..for Spring!
John Coffey 7:05:19 PM
Hi Lizbot, spring is here so tuning in now! Need to see if my 25 year old Walkman will get XPN on FM next bike ride.
Lizbot (host) 7:05:57 PM
Hi John Coffey!
Steve Volaric 7:07:52 PM
Loving this set. Happy Spring!!
Lizbot (host) 7:09:34 PM
@John Coffey - My old walkman was indestructible and worked better than any discman I got after it. Tried to get my daughter a recently-made discman for some CDs she bought and man, those used to be fine 25 years ago, but they're terrible now, I guess because hardly anyone buys them!
Lizbot (host) 7:09:53 PM
Hi Steve Volaric! I'm glad you're digging this upbeat set! Happy Spring!
Ossy 7:14:50 PM
liz - oh nice of your blossoming trees and flowers today and true in saying taking the wins where you can get them, which kinda reminds me of Snow White's quote "When the raindrops come tumbling, remember you're the one who can fill the world with sunshine"
Lizbot (host) 7:16:56 PM
@Ossy - True! Gotta take pleasure in things like springtime smells and migratory birds returning to my yard!
John Coffey 7:18:13 PM
Lizbot, technically it’s a Panasonic FM Cassette Walkman. Cassette crapped out due to old belts I guess. But FM works fine, just haven’t tested it with WPRB. Car radio gets WPRB past the airport.
Ossy 7:19:36 PM
liz - ha, ironically my day smells..in a bad moody way, but the springtime treasure is true :)
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:21:12 PM
Howdy everyone
Lizbot (host) 7:22:22 PM
@John Coffey - My cars over the last 30 years have always gotten WPRB clearly all over Philly and the 'burbs, but the home radios not always, especially in South Philly. There are weird little pockets of interference. Those walkmen radios were surprisingly good!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:22:56 PM
All these Fall songs that we missed :-(
Lizbot (host) 7:23:17 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland 🦀! I told a story about a crab...well more like hinted at one...earlier on mic!

Lizbot (host) 7:24:48 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Beautiful adult male cardinal hanging out on the tree across from my deck yesterday! Nice red-tailed hawk spotted overhead this morning
Lizbot (host) 7:24:57 PM
@@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - That has been The Bird Report.
Lizbot (host) 7:26:26 PM
@Ossy - oh no, sorry to hear that, I hope your day improves! Sometimes the weather doesn't match my mood! I woke up very groggy but was galvanized by the sun's rays! Still kinda achey today, but excited for warm weather!
Lizbot (host) 7:27:48 PM
@@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Perhaps yet MORE FALL will materialize before the show's up!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:28:39 PM
@Lizbot, I'm not crabby about missing your story. And nice about the cardinal! Good thing the hawk didn't go after the cardinal
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:29:17 PM
@Lizbot, ooh, more Fall would put a Spring in my step :-)
Ossy 7:29:53 PM
liz - yeah not a splendid week for me, but hopefully, yeah and the weather dosen't match me sometimes as well! Indoors in the cool conditioning campus library...(on low volume)
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:30:27 PM
@Ossy, I hope your week gets better
Lizbot (host) 7:31:02 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - The cardinal was yesterday and the hawk was today, but I wish the cardinal luck in avoiding said hawk in the future!
Brian D 7:32:57 PM
DJ DANCE PARTY-BOT! WOOT that was awesome!
Ossy 7:34:45 PM
hi rob and thanks :)
Lizbot (host) 7:37:18 PM
HI BRIAN D!
Lizbot (host) 7:39:40 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I'm glad you're not 🦀crabby🦀! The story I was referring was from 22 years ago - I went to see THe Faint at the Trocadero - the night I met my husband - and a friend brought a live crab they had just purchased in Chinatown to the venue, an ill-advised misadventure!
Lizbot (host) 7:40:04 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - More Fall coming up soon!
Lizbot (host) 7:40:57 PM
@Ossy - A nice cool campus library sounds relaxing! Sorry your week wasn't great!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:20 PM
@Brian D - You know when the weather is right and spring is young but in full effect, DANCEBOT appears!
John Coffey 7:43:49 PM
Ok, now I have DEVO envy to see one last time. Saw them on 4 tours in 80’s then years later with Hardcore Tour. I might just have to head over to the Met on Thursday for one last goodbye.
John Coffey 7:47:17 PM
Undertones on my top 10 of bands I never saw. Was working “down the shore” and missed them at Emerald City in 1980.
Lizbot (host) 7:47:55 PM
@John Coffey - Looks like there's still tickets in both Orchestra L & R and in the pit!
Lizbot (host) 7:48:24 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Fall at your request coming up next!
Lizbot (host) 7:49:50 PM
@John Coffey - I'd act on those tickets soon, though. There are a coupla aisle seats in FF Orch R that are regular non-re-sale price. FF is the closest row of seats to the pit. Then it's all pit if you don't mind crowds! I got my seats!
Lizbot (host) 7:50:18 PM
@John Coffey - I envy that you saw DEVO in the 80s. I loved them back then but never saw them until later
Lizbot (host) 7:52:21 PM
@John Coffey - I'd LOVE to have seen The Undertones! There's a funny over the top video for one of Feargal Sharkey's later solo career songs, "You Little Thief," but it's a very different style. Woulda been worth the drive from the shore if you weren't working during the show!
