The Fall also covered that 1958 Hank Mizell rockabilly song. It's not to be confused with Kip Tyler's "Jungle Hop" which came out the same year!

Split Enz are nothing like that other New Zealand band, Labretta Suede & the Motel 6, who played Bowery Electric on Friday. I believe they’re based in NYC now, but Labretta works in Asbury Park!

in the vein of classic LA punk, could i get fetch the water by minute flag?
David Shortell 7:23:32 PM
I believe that was the 2nd song Hüsker Dü played at their 1984 show in Florence, NJ. The pit suddenly went nuts.
David Shortell 7:25:01 PM
Honor Race's request. I've been wondering 40 years what that record sounds like.
David Shortell 7:27:17 PM
Somehow I’ve never seen Beat Happening. I only got to see Calvin Johnson in Manasquan circa 2000.
Esoterica (host) 7:31:14 PM
i will try, david and race
Esoterica (host) 7:31:17 PM

Race 7:36:47 PM
the double bass and vocals lends to a unique sound, very paced out and introspective imo
David Shortell 7:38:57 PM
D. Boon sang that. It came out a year after he died.
Esoterica (host) 7:39:59 PM

Esoterica (host) 7:41:00 PM

Pengy 7:41:01 PM

Esoterica (host) 7:44:49 PM
weird little prog lead
David Shortell 7:48:15 PM
I got to see Clem in the Split Squad (featuring Eddie from the Plimsouls, and Keith from the Fleshtones) twice in recent years. Before that I saw him in Magic Christian (which featured Cyril Jordan of the Flamin’ Groovies). The first Clem Burke performance I saw was the second (and final) time he drummed for the Ramones (at City Gardens).
Esoterica (host) 7:48:34 PM
nice, david
Thomas Baker 7:49:21 PM
Ahh, Blondie. My first teenage crush.
Esoterica (host) 7:50:32 PM
everyone's crush. hi, thomas:)
David Shortell 7:50:35 PM
The last two times I saw Paul Collins, he didn’t play that telephone song. Can you believe it? It’s like the time I saw the Rolling Stones and they didn’t play “Satisfaction”.
Thomas Baker 7:54:02 PM
Always great to hear you, Esoterica.
Jed1 7:54:05 PM
Good stuff as usual!
Esoterica (host) 7:54:37 PM
awesome, Jed1! Thx. Too SoCal-centric haha?
David Shortell 7:54:43 PM
When Debbie Harry guest-hosted Saturday Night Live, she introduced the first hip-hop act to play on television: Funky 4 + 1.
Thomas Baker 7:55:16 PM
That voice, angelic. Killer bass line.
Esoterica (host) 7:55:19 PM
wow, david
Esoterica (host) 7:55:28 PM
amazing, thomas. agree
Esoterica (host) 7:56:36 PM
thx, everyone!
David Shortell 7:58:07 PM
After "Autoamerican", the music biz suddenly ignored Blondie. Their next album, "The Hunter", got no airplay.
Esoterica (host) 7:58:11 PM
didn't get to The Jam ha. Next week! Stay tuned
Esoterica (host) 7:58:27 PM
