@ Lili (host) Re: review flaming in the 1990s WPRB vinyl stacks ... Back in the day, far back as the 1960s and '70s thru the '90s, reviews in the mainstream rock press (like Rolling Stone and Crawdaddy) and jazz (like Downbeat) could be pretty rough. Unless the writer was reviewing pop music gods, then it could be nauseatingly fawning. So I'm not surprised at the negative notes by 'PRB hosts that you've unearthed. It was in the culture, alas! a forerunner of social media trolling.

i remember the first time i ever called in to the station was to tell a dj how much i appreciated how she had read a review from a prb dj about a scathing review on a sufjan stevens album
