Dan Ruccia (host) 10:28:58 AM
Hey Mok!
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:29:36 AM
Here's a great Jeremy Denk article about this Missy Mazzoli piece: https://jeremydenk.substack.com/p/in-search-of-missy-mazzoli?r=1ogx4&utm_medium=ios&triedRedirect=true
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:32:30 AM
@ Dan Ruccia (host) great start ... loved Tony Scott and the Indonesians! Lots of good jazz and especially jazz-rock coming out of that island nation.
Brian D 10:34:46 AM
....it is all revealed....
Mok The Dinosaur 10:39:10 AM
that is hook is like Dire Straits meets the Grateful Dead
Brian D 10:39:59 AM
Great lp from Mary. Read that she started out as a young guitar prodigy. Went to school for music etc
Brian D 10:43:57 AM

@Guelo: Soft Machine's album "3"
Guelo <3 10:46:21 AM
Thank you kindly
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:46:41 AM
The Chic original of this is also some mind blowing ultra-slow disco
Brian D 10:47:09 AM
rhythm gtr player with the 2 same names from New York Dolls however.... he was Sylvain Sylvain RIP
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:47:11 AM
Here's that NME thing I mentioned in the talkset: https://bsky.app/profile/birmingham81.bsky.social/post/3lgs3dfznsc23
Jon Solomon 10:48:57 AM
I gotta find time to finally listen to that Mope Grooves collection.
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:49:22 AM
Same. I saw someone call it the weird version of that Cindy Lee album
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:49:58 AM
Apparently the main person behind the band tragically died before the album came out?
Jon Solomon 10:57:09 AM
Correct. They basically were Mope Grooves is my understanding. A few Names I Trust said it was their favorite release of 2024.
Jon Solomon 10:57:56 AM

Wyatt was one of the giants of the Canterbury scene, all while denying that it was even a thing
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:11:57 AM
@Dave you're totally the one who should be doing his 80th birthday celebration!
Brian D 11:16:19 AM
bed music is so good
Mike Lupica 11:18:29 AM
Love this Straw Man Army track. Great band/record.
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:20:05 AM
There's something about the way they sing/yell that is damn near perfect
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:20:34 AM
Like a perfect distillation of what makes punk great
Mike Lupica 11:23:20 AM

DDDDC was re-released in the US round about 1981 so it seemed like the "new" album at the time. Good timing after Back in Black w/the new singer. Heard it and loved it and thought hmm the singer sounds a bit different but still great. Then learned more about them. 6th and 7th grade memories early 80s.... JR High school dances were made better by ACDC ha

love that false end recap
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:35:20 AM
I really wish they had actually made it a locked groove at the end of the LP side
Brian D 11:35:40 AM
Yes!
Brian D 11:37:40 AM
Malcolm's pickups, guitar and amp settings are holy grail studies for time capsule discoveries in centuries to come. I heard he used relatively small amps with just the "dirt" or drive/distortion/pre gain whatever on the amp itself. Kept it basic
Gautham Kalva 11:44:54 AM
Hi @ Dan, loved that Robert Wyatt set earlier. Love Joanna Newsom, she reminds me of Daniel Johnston..
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:47:30 AM
Thanks, Gautham. I keep hoping Newsom will put out new music soon. It's been a decade since Divers...
Amy Lee 11:51:41 AM
Pigeon Pit - very nice.
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:53:20 AM
What better for a slightly overcast Tuesday morning in the greater Princeton area than some blazing country-bluegrass-punk rock, with Pigeon Pit. Off to Josephine County!
TAndy 11:54:53 AM
Thanks for the show dude!
Brian D 11:55:16 AM
Great show Dan! Gamelan and out....
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:56:02 AM
Looking forward to digging into the Pigeon Pit more when I'm not bound by FCC rules...

Thanks for listening, y'all!

And Indonesian play bookends! Terima kasih! :-D
Brian D 11:57:04 AM
I missed that name of the artists for the background music at 11:15 break.... good mellow minimalist synth or keys??? Can you please type into chat? Thank you.
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:57:09 AM
@Brian: It's all from Soft Machine 3!
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:57:59 AM
(Maybe it's technically called "Third"?)
Brian D 11:58:20 AM
thanks Dan!
