But then when they pop into the light they get blinded! Unless the headlamps are a similar brightness to the sun

dumb question - is it colder at the moon's south pole than the moon's equator? shouldn't we vacation where the clime is balmier?

My immediate guess is because there's no atmosphere, there's no meaningful air temperature. All the heat comes from radiation from the sun. And since we need life support and climate control even within space suits, you can tune that suit to a balmy 72 wherever you are

i was thinking their mass isn't enough to break the surface tension of the water....but it's persistence of vision that make it look like they aren't sinking (kind of).

I agree! Once you know they're really sinking, I think you can see it in the real-time videos. But it's easy to imagine they're floating across the water, indeed as people thought for 70 years

on a side note, i used to have a lot of little toads in my lawn. over the last 10-15 years they seem to have slowly disappeared as more and more houses go in, lawn care companies spraying etc....

One experiment makes dense plasmas by putting millions of amps t hrough small wires. Another experiment makes plasmas by shooting very very bright lasers at materials. Both times I will look at the x-rays that the plasmas generate to learn about their temperatures, motions and behavior.
