D @ DJ Noob AH "Micropachycephalosaurus" is in Greek because Swedish naturalist and explorer Carolus Linnaeus, who developed the first widely accepted scientific naming and classification system for animal and plant species, used Greek as being widely known among the world's scholars. The name is in the singular because it describes one type of animal -- not the collective plural of a group of them.

if you want to adopt a dinosaur it's easy: Get a pet bird! It's now widely accepted that birds are the living dinosaurs, directly evolved from small carnivorous, nest-making dinosaurs with feathers (for insulation and probably also vividly colored for mating displays).

but yes that does make a lot of sense :o

How wings evolved is still being researched and debated. Did the proto-birds develop heavily feathered arms that were useful in sweeping up insects in their path? And evnetually could fly with them? Or start building nests in trees for extra security of their young ~ and discovered they could easily glide to the ground? It's the "ground fly up" vs. "tree glide down" theories. :-))

Anyway, "Micropachycephalosaurus" Q Brothers is a Total HOOT! I gotta buy a download! And I'll end with this true story: I was at a lecture by famed paleontologist Jack Horner. And he told the adults in the audience: "If you have any questions and there's a child sitting near you, ask them. They know more about dinosaurs than you do! Let me repeat ~ they know more than you do."

is the 'tree glide down' theory that certain proto birds used to live in trees, but developed them to escape predators and/or find new food? :o

@ DJ Noob AH (host) Yes, as I under stand the "tree-down" scenario, tree dwelling very greatly aided survival of protobirds against predation, thus speeding their evolution into modern birds. One circumstantial evidence for the "ground-up" theory is that the young of some birds already have the habit of climbing up into trees or onto ledges by running at them, planting their clawed feet and running upward while flapping their little wings to provide the extra lift they need to reach the perch.

Yes! The love of sooo many children for dinosaurs is a powerful example of how rapidly kids will learn if something attracts their curiosity ~ and elicits their joy!
