Min-ha♡ Today we hear solely from an exquisite experimental label in Beirut, Al Maslakh Records. @4pm @ the 1/2 I'll read from Altered States - a poetry collection by Ignota Books curated by Sarah Shin & Ben Vickers. Can altered states produce altered worlds? + of course from Haytham El Wardany's The Book of Sleep .

3:01 PM		Peter Brötzmann & Michael Zerang A Daytime Nightmare Peter Brötzmann & Michael Zerang Live In Beirut Al Maslakh Records, Beirut Lebanon. 2005 In July 2005, Beirut's Irtijal Festival put together two concerts by the Brötzmann/Zerang duo in Beirut. This first appearance by German free jazz and improv legend Peter Brötzmann in the Middle Eastern/Arabic underground scene definitely left a mark on both players and audience. Sharif is on electric guitar and I'm on modular synths. - Jawad Nawfal syrphe.com sharifsehnaoui.net Sharif Sehnaoui is a free improvising guitarist. He plays both electric & acoustic guitars, with (or without) extended and prepared techniques. He resides in Beirut, his hometown. “Al Maslakh” (almaslakh.bandcamp.com) devoted to "publish the un-publishable" on the Lebanese musical scene. And “Annihaya” (annihayarecords.bandcamp.com) Jawad Nawfal aka Munma is a Composer and musician born in 1978 in Beirut, Lebanon.

3:37 PM		Mike Cooper A Dream of Arrival Mike Cooper Radio Paradise: Mike Cooper in Beirut Al Maslakh Records, Beirut Lebanon. 2012 In 2009, Lebanese experimental musicians Sharif Sehnaoui, Mazen Kerbaj and Charbel Haber decided to join forces and launch a sub-label of "Al-Maslakh" called "Johnny Kafta's Kids Menu". The idea behind this label was to meld the experimental spirit of Sehnaoui and Kerbaj's releases, with the free rock tendencies of Haber's various projects. Thus the "Johnny Kafta" character was born, a Lebanese butcher from Texas using al-Maslakh's infamous cleaver to slice up his shawarma. 3:56 PM		Mawja [Michael Bullock, Mazen Kerbaj & Vic Rawlings] S 1.3 Mawja [Michael Bullock, Mazen Kerbaj & Vic Rawlings] Studio One Al Maslakh Records, Beirut Lebanon. 2007 Studio One documents two compatible performances at Pancake Alley, New York and Candlestick Maker in Chicago by Michael Bullock (contrabass and feedback), Mazen Kerbaj (trumpet) and Vic Rawlings (cello and surface electronics). Theirs is a quiet and occasionally tentative improvised music, allowing drones to establish an atmosphere before the players muddy it, in the process finding new directions and the means to explore them. The quartet’s debut album Fuchsia Fever is a live recording at Morphine Raum in Berlin. This takes the listener through imaginary worlds of instrumental landscapes, bioelectric forests, static images and gestural scenes.
