The Tommy Johnson song I was thinking of was "big road blues"
Amy Lee 10:37:15 AM
It's just all so wonderful.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:37:31 AM

Thank you!
David Shortell 10:50:48 AM
Is there any connection between Peetie Wheatstraw and the Rudy Ray Moore movie "Petey Wheatstraw"?
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:54:03 AM
There seems to be some disagreement about whether the musician originated the name or whether he adopted a black folklore name that already was in circulation
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:54:24 AM
He was credited as "The Devil's Son-in-Law" or "The High Sheriff in Hell" on his records
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:54:34 AM
Short answer -- probably a connection!
David Shortell 10:58:54 AM
There's a whole chapter about Louis Prima in Nick Tosches' "Unsung Heroes of Rock 'n' Roll". A New Jersey rockabilly trio called the Junk Rumblers plays the song his orangutan character sang in the 1967 animated Disney feature “The Jungle Book”.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:02:15 AM
Thanks for the reference to Tosches' book!
TAndy 11:05:32 AM
Good morning, folks.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:06:09 AM
Morning!
David Shortell 11:11:31 AM
The first version I ever heard of that Willie Dixon composition “You Shook Me” was on the Jeff Beck Group’s “Truth” album”. The next year, those second-rate Jeff Beck Group imitators Led Zeppelin released their own version.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:12:26 AM
For my money Muddy's version remains definitive!
David Shortell 11:18:57 AM
“Built For Comfort” is one of the songs I remember Willie Dixon sang in his TV special I saw in the 80’s.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:22:53 AM
I've never seen the special!
TAndy 11:55:34 AM
Thanks for the show!!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:56:01 AM
Thanks for listening!
