Readie Righteous (host) 4:03:56 PM
Yeah, Brian, I love that...gotta wonder if he (or she) did anything to deserve that...

You said it, Brian D! What a show! And a great night...I was wandering around looking for WPRB swag-wearin' folk, but didn't see y'all...
Brian D 4:18:56 PM
Ya bundled a bit in the coat that night. Standing on the lawn (not sorry sitters... it's a concert and people stand that's the way it is)
Readie Righteous (host) 4:20:55 PM
Well said Bri- my brother and I were standin' of course...had on MANY layers of clothes...was very comfortable...
Brian D 4:21:16 PM
This was a great tour the Dog and Dawg. Saw the Keswick show
Readie Righteous (host) 4:22:25 PM
Excellent, I'll bet that show was great...I believe I saw The Kingston Trio there years ago...
Brian D 4:24:50 PM
Billy is the real deal. Pays respect to the past and takes it forward. Last time I went to Grey Fox fest he was artist in residence and sat in with everyone. Had some good of his own sets too.
Brian D 4:26:34 PM
Seldom Scene!
Readie Righteous (host) 4:26:59 PM
Yeah, the interview I heard was on Marc Maron's WTF podcast...interesting guy - quite a story! sentimental and sweet as they come...loved the interview. That Grey Fox fest must have been a hoot!
Brian D 4:34:05 PM
Horseflies from Western New York still doing it! Love their sound. Especially the fiddle. Heard the one early lp back 30-35 years ago with the wild song "I Live Where It's Grey" on it. So glad they did that in the set at GREY Fox a few years back
Readie Righteous (host) 4:35:31 PM
Where's the Grey Fox fest, Brian D?
Brian D 4:38:51 PM
As of 2008 it's in Central New York state in Greene County. Oak Hill, NY. Before that they set up tent and stage at a farm on a mountain in Ancramdale, NY right near the MASS / CT borders. That was from maybe the mid 80s to 2007
Readie Righteous (host) 4:39:53 PM
Cool, thanks-sounds like something I would like a lot.
Brian D 4:41:13 PM
Both beautiful farms to host festivals. Before 2000 , the name of the fest was Winter Hawk. Then in 2000 they changed the name to Grey Fox. And way back 1976 to sometime in the 80s maybe it was called the Berkshire Mountain Bluegrass Fest
Readie Righteous (host) 4:42:19 PM
Ok, I heard of the Berkshire MBF...
Brian D 4:42:36 PM
Richard from the chat here wrote a great biography on the king Mr Bill Monroe. He mentions the very rainy inaugural 1976 Berkshire Mtn fest in his book. Highly recommend
Readie Righteous (host) 4:43:07 PM
Somehow, Billy Strings has awakened a love of bluegrass in me...the harmonies & the pickin'!
Brian D 4:43:43 PM
Pretty darn good for a Michigan picker that Billy!
Readie Righteous (host) 4:44:02 PM
How I wish I coulda seen Old& in the Waylive!
Readie Righteous (host) 4:45:18 PM
Indeed, and Billy's dad taught him from the age of 4 - not his bio father, but his love for him is so deep!!!!
Richard of Rocky Hill 4:48:47 PM
@ Readie Righteous (host) I saw Old & In The Way 51 summers ago (yikes!) at a bluegrass festival when they'd formed and were yet to record this classic live album. Garcia was still getting his banjo chops back (which he surely did) but they were fab, tremendous synergy.
Brian D 4:50:18 PM
Ya same. I saw Old and in the Gray one year at GF Fest. The reunion when Vassar was still alive. Herb Pederson in the Jerry role on banjo. Hmm who was on bass that night Richard? I don't think it was Bryn Bright (she's on the reunion lp). I think it may have been Mark Schatz..?
Richard of Rocky Hill 4:51:50 PM
Thank you SO MUCH for this set. Your old (but not yet in the way) bluegrass buddy from good ol' Rocky Hill (long before there was a good ol' Rocky Top!) is transported to folk-country heaven!
Brian D 4:54:49 PM
Nothing like Bobby Osborne's clear high voice.
Brian D 4:55:39 PM
Great show Readie!
Richard of Rocky Hill 4:55:48 PM
@ Brian D Yes, most likely Mark Schatz on bass in the reunion O&ITW lineup. Herb Pederson is one of my all-time bluegrass/country/rock heros, especially with the two albums he did with The Dillards, like the masterpiece Wheatstraw Suite.
Readie Righteous (host) 4:55:57 PM
Hi Richard! so cool you saw them!! thanks for sharing that!
Readie Righteous (host) 4:56:32 PM
Thanks for being here, Richard, lovely to hear from ya!!
Readie Righteous (host) 4:56:43 PM
Thx, Brian D!
Readie Righteous (host) 4:57:34 PM
Lovely to be with y'all today! Thx for stoppin' by!
Brian D 4:59:33 PM
Herb P is a total pro. He is on so many recordings credited and uncredited playing perfect rhythm guitar and / or helping out on perfect harmony vocals. The Southern California sound's secret weapon
Readie Righteous (host) 4:59:50 PM
All right!
