With Grace

¡experiment!¡experiments!¡reception+perception: Interaural Space is a 2 hour span connecting our neural sensitivities through sound experiments, musics, readings, talks, etc.

11am reading from my favorite books &/or artists.

Emphasis on unbounded, experimental works by artists from across the globe.

*Interaural Space is a term by Maryanne Amacher, experimental composer (1938-2009).

Venus Rising From The Sea Doyenne 2024

6644dbe9d073d.jpgTaking its name from the etymology behind the well known myth of ‘Aphrodite’, meaning: “sea-foam", "risen from the foam" - the fifth release from Doyenne brings together friends, lovers and the broken-hearted under one premise. The commission was to make a ‘love song cover’, in which each artist has had free reign in the interpretation of ‘love’ as well as the style and rendition of their favourite musical pieces on love: Agape (unconditional love), unrequited love, philautia (self love), lost love, mania (obsessive love).

Valley Girl 2014

6644db5e08acb.jpgFrom the artist: My 2014 record, Valley Girl, was inspired by the agriculture and landscapes of Oakland, California and its horizon of rolling hills. The peaks and valleys of the album's landscape are made of fifteen computer generated tones that cycle through melodies driven by ambisonic surround-sound locations to define space.

The computer material was recorded live with the addition of silence to accentuate vocals as a separate entity. The voice was then placed in the silences - or valleys - between melodies.

CD (XX-II) Hasana Editions 2020

From label:Akio Suzuki and Aki Onda, though differ in generation and performance practice, these Japanese sound artists—Tango-based Suzuki and NYC-based Onda—share an astonishingly inventive, open-ended, and in situ approach to the infinite and variegated possibilities of sound. In their performances, Suzuki and Onda often utilize self-made instruments (Suzuki’s famous Analapos), stone flute, tape recorders, wood pieces, nails, hammer, and other found objects among others. An extensive investigation on sound in relation to the specific site, architecture, acoustics, and energy of the performance space, creating corresponding topographies, perceiving sound as space.

Sisters Mappa Editions 2018
From cafe OTO: "In the two compositions for vibraphone she wrote for mappa editions, Sarah Hennies analyses the psychoacoustic dimensions of space. Sisters is a sonic exploration which opens the space between the rough walls of the church, an infinite pulse penetrating into every crinkle, hole and fold. In the sense of her quote "When you pulse one note on a vibraphone for 20 minutes, why do you need to do anything else?", we witness the fullness of one single tone, disappearing resonances and gentle changes, which reveal various performative, spatial, psychic and listening situations.

ONDATA ROSSA Valentina Magaletti 2024

6644dea09417d.jpgFrom Valentina: Ondata Rossa is born on the ashes of EP/64-63 on the 26 April 2022 when Agathe Max, Yoshino Shigihara, Valentina Magaletti and Dali de Saint Paul met to improvise again with visuals created by the artist Laura Phillips. The original music they created on that day, explores freely various sonic territories from ambient to psychedelia, presenting a unique trip in soundscapes where each of these incredible musicians can bring her own touch to the common edifice.

The recording was made by Marion Andrau and Thomas Blackburn at New River Studios (London) on the 26/04/22.

The music was mixed and mastered by Agathe Max.

It's Not Complicated Ma3azef 2021

6644da8ff3ba6.jpg

All proceeds of this compilation will go to Medical Aid for Palestine and Grassroots Al-Quds. from the label: Few ask the right questions about Palestine, yet they are answered time and time again. They are shouted and written and drawn and thrown at the world. They are hacked into the digital sphere and sprayed onto every wall. Every single question has already been speculated, thought of and answered. ًWhen your very existence is disputed, negated and denied, you don't learn the answers, you know them. For them, those questions, however complex for the privileged mind, are simple, and the answers could be spoken in a single breath, or they could fill volumes. For them, it's never complicated. And to them, we humbly dedicate this work.
