@ David Shortell Yes, I'd also thought it was a Keith Richards-Mick Jagger composition. Irma Thomas and Kai Winding did indeed record earlier versions before the Stones but (at least according to Wiki) it was penned by Jordan "Jerry" Ragovoy, an American songwriter and record producer.

@ Terry Kelso I think the original meaning of calaboose was a jail. "Oh, he got thown in the ol' calaboose." I guess in Chuck Berry's song, the stuck seat belt makes his car a jail for his girlfriend ... ?
