Hi Number 6!

How worried should I be about predicted snowstorms this weekend? I need a consensus. I have plans in NYC Fri-Mon because of the President's Day weekend break. Am I gonna drive up and find my Saturday events cancelled? I am pondering this

Oh boy, more snow due, sheesh!

@Number 6 - Unfortunately! I always have this 4-day weekend every mid-February, and normally I head up to NYC for it, but I don't remember getting snow during it in previous years. Supposed to snow Saturday in NYC. Unclear if we're getting snow here...But up to 6" in NYC!? Seems off, but at this point, it's anybody's guess. I crammed TWO plays into Saturday and I am wondering if I'm gonna be freezing and sliding down the street during the small window I have between the 5 pm matinee ending

...and the 8pm play, in a very different neighborhood, beginning!

The weather has been kind of weird. On Monday it was in the 50s, and then on Tuesday we had the snow. It seemed to be a lot worse north of the city.

@Number 6 - My husband dropped our daughter's winter coat off at the dry-cleaner because she managed to get it very muddy last weekend when it was 60 degrees in Philly. She really needed it again before they were done cleaning it! We had blooming crocuses last weekend

Perfume and cologne is overrated and hurts my head! Especially if I'm in an elevator or other enclosed space with someone drenched in it. That's why I love this song

Well, that and also it's a great. But I think it's also the only anti-perfume love song.

@Addie - I love this song too. With David Byrne there's so often a surface lyrical meaning and a few other layers too. That song is so joyous and simple, but I'm sure there's more going on. It also sounds like he's singing to a little kid

I was still in elementary school and saved up allowance and bought two records based entirely on their ridiculous funny album covers - The Who Sell Out and The Soft Machine's first self-titled abum. @Dennis Lingg - Srsly. Also, the OG book trader was a great old house and it got ripped down for the hideous monstrosity Nike sneaker store that replaced it. Criminal. I takjed to the Book Trader owner many years ago before me moved about the fate of the business. He said he tried to buy that building many times over the yrs he was there and the owner just kept raising the price every time he managed to raise enough.The landllord was clearly holding out for a huge company like Nike to come along

She LOVES The Ramones but seems to think the movie will be "cringe," to use the parlance of her generation. The scenes with Mary Woronov and her crazy-tight 1940s up-do make me laugh, but my favorite scene is the lab rat rock experiment!

@Stephen Bluhm - Space Boy was a great little record store on South Street back in the 90s and early 2000s. It was my favorite record store. It was owned by then-coupld John Stanley (now married to DJ Robert Drake of WXPN) and his ex Scott. They had excellent taste and were always playing great records in store. They also had many great in-store performances. I saw Marianne Notwottny perform there, and Adam Green and many others.

This has really been a top shelf show, Lizbot!

@Carlos Ramone. - Stripes was a Bill Murray movie I somehow never saw, even though I was Bill Murray-obsessed growing up and still love him. I was aware of it but it was never on TV and i think my local video store, the long-gone Ellis Street Video, never had it in stock. That place was tiny and had only one copy of everything. My brother and I were personally responsible for tying up their copy of The Best of Eddie Murphy SNL VHS tape for months at a time

My brother and I wore them down for YEARS and years and then one Christmas morning my mom presented us with a gift-wrapped literal cord and we were dumbfounded, and then she explained she was finally getting cable and it was gping to be our only gift that year. @Stephen Bluhm - Sherlock Holmes is one of my all-time favorites. And for that reason, George covered it for a Sparks fest at PhilaMOCA about...gosh, i dunno, at least 12 years ago, but probably more like 16

I try not to give Morrissey money but some of the songs are just great songs. I was singing along a bit. I used to play that one on guitar.

@Stephen Bluhm - yes! It's like Jane Birkin, you gotta love her, but this track sets off major ASMR...which is not necessarily a bad thing! Another close mic singer is Momus.

I wish I'd been able to pull it together to cover George's song when he asked but I was just too overload. Still am. But I still want to do it sometime.

@Stephen Bluhm - The whole Morrissey situation makes me so sad. I will never stop being grateful to him for his music and what it meant to me as a kid/teen/and adult, BUT I can justify giving him money anymore either. He needs to just shut up with his "hot takes" and trying to provoke everyone. It isn't cute anymore. He used to be the lovable curmudgeon, but now he's just a mean stodger with a serious "England for the English" problem.

@Stephen Bluhm - It doesn't change the fact that The Smiths (and, I know it's controversial because a lot of people who love The Smiths don't care for Morrissey's solo stuff) but the Morrissey solo stuff too- so much of it is great, despite his opinions

@Stephen Bluhm - yeah, every saturday I walked from my studio apartment on 16th & Spruce to the corner of Pine street and walked east down Pine past all the pretty old stone buildings and people playing chess in Louis Kahn Park, and headed straight for Space Boy, Once I'd stocked up on new albums, I get a drink at The Bean Cafe, wherein worked a boy I had a crush on who had FELT lyrics tattooed on his arm, (which was probably 90% of the reason I liked him at the time.)

@Ossy - I wish I had all my old WPRB bumper stickers. I have many of them, but I like to preserve one of each design by not letting them get really worn and dirty on my car, BUT I love it when I spot a WPRB stick on a car on the road! And of course when I see someone in a shirt ot when someone recognizes my voice. Always an ego boost!

Thanks, Stephen! Hattie took her first steps in Kahn Park! Then she climbed up the steps of Giovanni's Room! I loved going to Blendo and Spirit of the Artist (SOTA) along that stretch of Pine. Beautiful place.
