oh, just noticed your sugar season mention. i tapped my black walnuts over the weekend. two small maples are really giving me a good amount of sap. i only make 2 or 3 pints of syrup, but it's fun.

this is my third year. first time i did it felt like sorcery. i tapped too late last year to get much. i use cat litter buckets with tight fitting lids, tubing just goes into a hole in the lid.

Tapping black walnut: I recently watched a video that explored 2 things, how much sawdust can you put in bread (about 10% of the flour),and can you tell what type of wood is in bread (yes). Black walnut is the only one that made the bread inedible. I suspect the sap is pungent as well.

Converse don't have much arch support, it's true. Same with the standard Vans without padded soles. I didn't care 30 years ago, but I care now. @Ossy, I see Hokas everywhere. They do seem to be trending.

my daily wear is a pair of 7-10 year old adidas cloudfoam but I've been breaking in a very exciting pair of thigh high cowboy boots

They're literally foam soled sneakers with stretchy plastic material on the rest 😭 you could get a pair exactly like them but with a different style at the discount store for like $20. I know cos I had a pair years ago. Extremely light and comfy but the foam soled wear out quicker than brake pads on my car

@TAndy, so that foam goes flat fast? That's disappointing. They look comfy, though.

@Krista, those boots sound cool. I get shoes second-hand too. Uptown Cheapskate has some good ones, as well as thrift stores.

There was some also new trending nike air force white shoe, but has many dots on the foot. Don't know the name yet, but I see it everywhere like the new Hoka

I'm sure the foam that Hoka uses has better wear prevention, however if you walk outside on city sidewalks or anything that isn't a smooth concrete plane, they wear out faster than you'd expect.

You could still wear them after the foam wears out but you'll have little to no traction especially in the rain

Oh, those shoes, which I see in the hiking shoes. Walmart got good non expensive price of them. I also got rubber rain boots from them and they're comfortable, especially in the snow

I had a super mean mostly feral cat who I bottle raised but never lost his verve. his record at the vet said VERY AGGRESSIVE !!!!!!!!! (yes, that many exclamation marks)

Mr. Fuzz was his name and he was a treasure who loved only me, my husband, and our kids. Everyone else got the hissy kitty

So scary, how you put up with a bully feral meanie cat is astounding!!!!!! I was friends with my sister's friend's cat named Diamond in the childhood days and we were so close she followed me in the house to spend the night, then some yeats later she still remembered me and possibly had kittens. The opposite of mean, scary and feral LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Although she has scary irritable moments when mishandled or very annoyed, she showed HER FANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
