He belongs to the Travancore Royal Family of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala and is a descendent of composer Swati Tirunal Maharaja. He had his initial training under Vechoor Harihara Iyer and later became a senior disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. Known for his soulful singing style, the Prince is music communicator and teacher par excellence and has given numerous national and international performances. |

According to Sangita Kalanidhi Smt Bombay Jayashri, “Her music is full of gnanam and sukha-bhavam. The high level of technical competency in her singing is most aesthetically presented,”. He later continued his training under "Flute Mali" Sri T.R Mahalingam who was an acknowledged genius in developing a unique style of blowing.
