Viswanathan Varnam: "Viriboni" - Bhairavi Pachimiriyam Adiappaiya South Indian Flute World Pacific Records 1968 Tanjore Viswanathan (13 August 1927 – 10 September 2002) was the grandson of Veena Dhanammal. His elder sister was the Bharatnatyam dancer Balasaraswati. His elder brother was mridangam player T. Ranganathan. He learnt flute from Tiruppamparam Swaminatha Pillai. He moved to the USA in 1966, taught at California Institute of the Arts and Wesleyan University. The ensemble was recorded while they were all on the faculty of Wesleyan University. T. Viswanathan (flute) is joined by his brother T. Ranganathan (mridangam), V. Thyagarajan (violin) and his brother V. Nagarajan (kanjira). |

| Salamat and Nazakat Ali Gorakh Kalyan In Memoriam The Ali Brothers SaReGaMa 2001 Singing in the Sham Chaurasia gharana, Nazakat Ali Khan (1928-1984) and Salamat Ali Khan (1934-2001) had their debut performance on All India Radio, Delhi in 1942, when Salamat was only 8. Their father is vocalist Vilayat Ali Khan. They were from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, and migrated to Lahore after the partition of India.
