@DSM - I found it fun in a silly way, but most def not scary! I love Halloween, The Thing & Assault On Precinct 13 and can watch those over and over. The Fog is pretty low on the John Carpenter list for me. I don't think I will revisit it, but it was worth it to me seeing it once!

Easter Theatre is up there as one of my all-time favorite XTC songs, and somewhere out the on the internet many years ago I read an in-depth interview about his thought processes when making that song

Many years ago I did a "Spotlight" program on WPRB, a long-defunct series with a rotating cast of DJs wherein each of us chose a theme or artist to focus on, and around 2003/2004 I did one about women pioneers in experimental and electronic composition and played one of her pieces

@Brian McCormack - I first encountered Wendy Mae Chambers' music on the excellent late 90s Ellipsis Arts experimental/homemade instrument compilation "Gravikords Whirlies & Pyrophones," which featured her playing "New York, New York" on her all-car-horn organ. I go to LBI in the summers, I wonder if I've ever walked past her

@Roffle - Went to Batsto in a heatwave with my parents in the mid-80s because they wanted to see Don McLean. A young adult contingent of the audience went swimming in the cedar water to cool off before the show, which ran late. My mom dragged along her friend visiting from England, unaccustomed to New Jersey summer humidity and heatwaves, and she passed out!

@Roffle - Imagine Doubleplusgood, the concert series...by the oceanside! Wendy Mae Chambers and her car horn organ and toy piano symphony for starters, since she's local! Imagine Juana Molina there!

@Roffle - It's not gonna happen, and most people come to dance to classic rock hits, and that's fine, so I'm sure something like that would elicit some pretty funny indignant reactions, but I can daydream!

I stole some ancient squared nails from a building in Batsto as a misguided youth. But you could walk on planks and look at lake level at the falls. Just amazing!

@Roffle - I love the reflections on the cranberry bogs in Whitesbog Village, walking around the bogs at sunset. Great place to spot birds, too. Whitesbog has an outdoor stage and did actually host a two somewhat experimental music festivals I attended, 'Middle of Nowhere' parts I & II, with the Ominous Cloud Ensemble scoring live Philadelphia-based filmmaker David Scott Kessler's documentary, “The Pine Barrens,” starring my friend artist Allen Crawford, who designs one of WPRB's swag shirts!

i haven't heard Leo Kottke in DECADES!. i have some of his LPs in a bin in my basement

i love fog. i love wind, i love sunny days where the sunshine is bright white and the shadows are clean and crisp. but fog is so rich and luxurious.

@Roffle - Oh cool! I love the old labels designed by the various family-run cranberry bogs in the Pineys! We didn't have any of those, but my South Jersey grandmom collected and used those Charles Chips tins to collect all kinds of knick-knacks in!

@stevie p - Kottke is great, and that song makes me laugh! My dad has some of his records in crates on the sinking floors of his attic!

@Roffle - Yes, if you construct a venue, make it in a clearing in the pineys! The trick is to make it somewhat hidden, BUT down a road cars can't sink in! I got so lost in the Pineys once as a teenager, but I never managed to get my car stuck in one of the sand roads! I have seen more than a few cars stuck out there over the years. Clearly some were unfamiliar with the terrain and trying to off-road/joyride!
