Thinking about tracking down Mary or James Brandon Lewis for an interview before the show...

New Ethnic Heritage Ensemble cut coming up...

These acts sporadically got to Philly before Solar Myth, what a boon for the scene...

This sounds great, that's a helluva house band!

This record was only released in Japan till an edition came out on record store day a few years back. Funny that a small population like Japan's had a bigger market for this stuff than the U.S....

That's not new. Some of David Murray's best albums with Dave Burrell were only available on DIW.

Yeah, Europe and Asia kept a lot of American jazz musicians gainfully employed.

I think A lot of modern players make their nut by teaching and touring Europe in the summer...

The 2010s was for buying all the used DIW releases that I couldn't afford new in the '90s...

I hope you snagged Spirituals and Deep River. Huge fan of Dave Burrell.

I do believe I have both of those...

I hadn't heard A Spencer Barefield in many years. 30 years ago a long forgotten DJ on WRTI named E. Martin Seaborne played his music.

Tani Tabbal is a facebook friend, he's played a lot with the Art Ensemble in recent years...

At midnight Saturday, Seaborne hosted a show, Point of Departure, named after an Andrew Hill album. Excellent. When he wasn't available, Ludwig Van Trikt, the guy who ran the Painted Bride jazz shows, and the late Richard Nichols filled in. I have cassette recordings.

I'm drawing a blank. Like I said at the break, Iused to listen to tons of that kinda stuff, today, almost none, 'cept for maybe old favorites like Townes...

Jason Isbell is my current favorite in that realm.
