Hello Hello!
Number 6 5:04:31 PM
Greetings!
Number 6 5:05:04 PM
Number 6 reporting for listening duty madame!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:53 PM
Hi Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:26 PM
@Number 6 - I hope you enjoyed this sun after all that stormy weather! It was kinda mild and NOT blowing my doors off today!
Number 6 5:07:19 PM
Yes, I had a meeting Tues. night but they did it by zoom.
Lizbot (host) 5:08:54 PM
@Number 6 - Phew! Yeah, it got really blustery and scary in NW Philly by Tuesday evening. All day long I balked at the warnings because the weather wasn't that bad until later in the evening, at least near me. All my kid's afterschool activities were cancelled!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:09:35 PM
Hello Lizbot and Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:46 PM
Hi Rob! How's the birding going?
Number 6 5:10:06 PM
Supposed to get another storm on Sunday. Hi Rob!
Lizbot (host) 5:10:44 PM
@Number 6 - Ugh. But at least I don't have to drive anywhere on Sunday
Lizbot (host) 5:11:59 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I bought myself Sundance Film Fest tickets for the end of this month - online-viewing - and there is a hummingbird rehabilitation documentary in competition for Best U.S. Doc!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:15:12 PM
@Lizbot, I hope the humingbird doc wins in its category
Lizbot (host) 5:15:22 PM
@Rob from Maryland - The hummingbird doc is called "Every Little Thing," and it's about a woman in L.A. who cares for injured hummingbirds. Of course I bought a ticket for that one!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:16:31 PM
@Lizbot, birding is ok. The weather has kept me indoors with all that rain. I did go to a local lake to look for ducks, after a dentist appointment. I saw 4 species that I hadn't yet seen this year.
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:17:38 PM
@Lizbot, the reading that title puts a Police song on replay in my head. The hummingbird healer sounds like a nice person. I'm sure that you will enjoy the movie!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:19 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I think the title is too vague, I kept forgetting the name! But I'm looking forward to it.
Lizbot (host) 5:19:54 PM
@Rob from Maryland - A couple years ago I saw an excellent doc at Sundance online about a man in India who cares for hundreds of wild Indian ringneck parrots. He dedicates his life to prepping food and feeding them and rehabilitating injured ones. His neighbors are NOT his biggest fans!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:56 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Oh wait, it was kites. not ringnecks! It's been a few years since I saw that doc. WRT the ringneck parrots: I'm thinking of my friend Leah's mom, also in India, who cares for injured wild ringnecks
Lizbot (host) 5:23:04 PM
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/may/23/all-that-breathes-delhi-documentary-cannes-black-kites
Lizbot (host) 5:26:23 PM
@Rob from Maryland - And it's two brothers in Delhi who care for the kites. It was a good doc, AND the seed of the idea for the filmmaker was actually an article written in the New York Times by former WPRB DJ, Oliver Whang!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:27:30 PM
@Lizbot, that is all interesting, especially about the WPRB dj
Lizbot (host) 5:28:20 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Oliver did a music show and also WPRB News Dept about 8 years ago or so
Lizbot (host) 5:30:10 PM
All That Breathes (the Indian kites doc) got nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Documentary and it won Grand Jury Prize in World Cinema Documentary Competition at Sundance in 2022. The article it was based on is from 2020. I remember reading it when it first came out. Glad an excellent doc came out of it
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:38:57 PM
I don't think ever caught Oliver's shows. And yay re the documentary
Lizbot (host) 5:40:35 PM
Gotta love Mick Karn's fretless bass on this song!
Lizbot (host) 5:41:22 PM
My husband bought a fretless bass last week and immediately played karn's bass-riff from Dali's Car's "His Box"
Lizbot (host) 5:42:13 PM
@Rob from Maryland - He wasn't on WPRB for many years, but he did a few seasons. I'd see him around the studio and at meetings.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:50:32 PM
Evenin’ all!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:45 PM
Hello Addie!
Lizbot (host) 5:51:34 PM
@Addie - When Philly got that big rain storm with crazy powerful winds Tuesday into Wednesday, did you guys in VT get any storms?
Ossy 5:58:00 PM
Hi Space Lady Susanbot. Nice familiar sounds like Main Ingredient
Lizbot (host) 5:58:30 PM
Hi Ossy! Susanbot! Ha!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:50 PM
@Ossy - Hey I love that "Dig This!!!" right before the drop on Everybody Plays the Fool! So good
Ossy 5:59:38 PM
Always like on the philly commercial stations!
Ossy 6:00:47 PM
Speaking more, that singer played on wprb, Kate Bush, is in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with The Spinners and Missy Elliot
Lizbot (host) 6:01:10 PM
@Ossy - I love me some Kate Bush
Ossy 6:01:58 PM
And noticed she tends to widen out her eyes, LOL
Lizbot (host) 6:03:25 PM
@Ossy - Well yeah, Everybody Plays the Fool is a classic, but I love to mix it into a PRB show! When my husband was studying bass at U.Arts over two decades ago, one of his professors had him listen to that song, and certain other classic soul songs, like tracks of my tears, to play attention to the basslines in those songs
George Korein 6:12:04 PM
"It Doesn't Have To Be That Way" sounds a bit like it's from the perspective of someone about to switch careers or get a divorce
George Korein 6:13:19 PM
Though there are lines I don't understand so it may be intended to be about something else entirely
Lizbot (host) 6:14:22 PM
@George Korein - Yeah, Ron Mael is sneaky like that
George Korein 6:14:27 PM
This is how we rock on the moon b/w This is how we mambo on the moon
Lizbot (host) 6:15:31 PM
@George Korein - This is how we mambo on the rock
Lizbot (host) 6:15:35 PM
@George Korein - Yr fretless bass (which I just accidently typed as "fretlass" at first...a fret-less lass,,,) got mentioned in the chat earlier, by me, WRT Dali's Car
Lizbot (host) 6:17:17 PM
This song is like Wire/Colin Newman writing an inspirational poster: "Interrupting my train of thought Lines of longitude and latitude Define and refine My altitude"
Lizbot (host) 6:18:19 PM
I ADORE the flute's over-the-top thrilling in this Yma Sumac song!
George Korein 6:20:15 PM
This song is bumpin'
Lizbot (host) 6:20:48 PM
@George Korein - flute has a LOT to say!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:13 PM
@George - Flute: "Everybody to the limit!"
George Korein 6:21:29 PM
This is how buffalo mambo with a rock
George Korein 6:21:36 PM
...Slow
George Korein 6:21:58 PM
Flute is that triangle loaflet bird
George Korein 6:22:16 PM
Leaflet from a loaflet
Lizbot (host) 6:23:29 PM
@George Korein - trilling birds and buffaloes should join forces and form a feathered and furry mambo-rock group
Lizbot (host) 6:23:51 PM
I like this drum in this CA song hitting on the off-beat
Lizbot (host) 6:24:50 PM
@George Korein - Leaflet from a loaflet sounds like that borb is distributing political leaflets announcing that birds ARE, in fact, real
George Korein 6:25:31 PM
Birdalo: a banjo-kazooie kind of dynamic
Ossy 6:25:41 PM
Liz - You hear Phyllis Hyman has an upcoming lifestory stage musical play at the Kimmel Cultural Center in Feburary?
George Korein 6:26:17 PM
"We're real and we're incredible"
Wes Steenson 6:26:32 PM
Some early XTC! With Barry Andrews on keys.
Lizbot (host) 6:26:42 PM
@George Korein - oooh, Birdalo! You can recruit some of my birds to make this happen! Just gotta find a buffalo....MIght need to trek to Golden Gate Park, SF!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:46 PM
Hi Wes!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:26:54 PM
Oops sorry, got distracted. Yes @lizbit we got a crazy wind and rain storm too! Luckily we did not lose power at our house though.
George Korein 6:27:11 PM
Thymme Jones is sneaky like that
Lizbot (host) 6:27:18 PM
@Ossy - Oh wow! I gotta check that out!
George Korein 6:27:47 PM
I notice in the last vocal part, the singer has this Thymme-esque delivery
Lizbot (host) 6:27:47 PM
@GEorge Korein - Indeed!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:01 PM
@Wes Steenson - I love the early stuff as much as the later XTC
Lizbot (host) 6:29:29 PM
@Wes Steenson - The two eras of XTC are so distinct from each other, and of course the early XTC sound didn't last as long, but I am very fond of that post-punk-era XTC
Lizbot (host) 6:30:12 PM
@George Korein - huh...I guess you're right. NEver thought about that, but I love that song and I love Thymme's vocals so it follows..
Lizbot (host) 6:30:42 PM
This song goes hard
Carlos Ramone. 6:31:10 PM
Greetings from Montco
Lizbot (host) 6:31:26 PM
It's a Cheer-Sparksident kind of a show today.
Lizbot (host) 6:31:35 PM
Hi Carlos Ramone! How goes it?
Wes Steenson 6:31:43 PM
@Lizbot - Yes. When I started collecting them I bought all the early (US) cds. They were a really different band with Barry. Also - try naming your album White Music today…
Carlos Ramone. 6:31:51 PM
Warm and dry
Lizbot (host) 6:33:30 PM
@Carlos Ramone. - Glad to hear it! I was a little worried a tree would fall on my house in Tuesday night's wind!
Carlos Ramone. 6:33:33 PM
@ Liz..can you answer this?? When Commie Francis is on early on Thursday am hours..live show or a rebroadcast?
Carlos Ramone. 6:34:21 PM
Talking about 5 am
Lizbot (host) 6:34:24 PM
@Carlos Ramone - That's a rebroadcast
Ossy 6:34:48 PM
Liz - So true, was speaking about Hyman with Readie Rainbow and Jerry Gordon recently!
Lizbot (host) 6:35:28 PM
@Carlos Ramone - The station cycles through various DJ's shows as rebroadcasts in the middle of the night. Doubleplusgood has been on various days' late-night rebroadcasts, but not currently
Wes Steenson 6:35:52 PM
@Lizbot - I also bought a couple of Shriekback cds to follow Barry Andrews’ post XTC.
Carlos Ramone. 6:35:55 PM
Thought so. Early start to workday..love the Freddie Cannon station ID at 5..followed by Transistor Sister
Lizbot (host) 6:35:57 PM
@George Korein - Invite the loba to join the loaf-bird and the buffalo and fill out their trio
Lizbot (host) 6:36:24 PM
@Ossy - I gotta check out more of his solo/other project output
Lizbot (host) 6:37:55 PM
@Carlos Ramone.- Yeah, many years ago, the station would just go off-air in the middle of the night, but then we found this solution
Lizbot (host) 6:38:18 PM
@Carlos Ramone.- and it's nice to have it for when I'm doing some late-night driving!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:47 PM
@Ossy - Oh wow! I could see Readie playing Phyllis for sure!
Carlos Ramone. 6:39:03 PM
Great solution to my early morning starts!!
Lizbot (host) 6:40:00 PM
@Carlos Ramone - When Doubleplusgood was on in the middle of night, I startled myself one night by falling asleep with the radio on and then waking suddenly to the sound of my own voice!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:43:42 PM
What an out of body experience @Lizbot!
Wes Steenson 6:43:52 PM
Wolff’s Kasha!
Lizbot (host) 6:48:39 PM
@Addie - YES. It was very weird! It took me a few seconds to realize I wasn't dreaming. Very disorienting, but in a good way. Like, I was talking to my future ([sleepy] self when I did that show!
Lizbot (host) 6:49:41 PM
@Wes Steenson - mmm, grainzz
Wes Steenson 6:50:27 PM
@Lizbot @Ossy One summer back in my bar band days I went to Sam Goody’s and bought three 3 LP compilations from Motown - The Best Of The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Temptations. I spent the summer taking a crash course in James Jamerson bass. It definitely made me a better musician.
Number 6 6:51:11 PM
They used to record the shows on a computer in the main studio, but that busted years ago.
Lizbot (host) 6:52:31 PM
@Number 6 - I never even did that, but I know people who did. I used to record my show on CASSETTE tape a million years ago! The cassette played in the PRB studio back then used to flip automatically and it would start recording over what you already recorded if you weren't careful!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:13 PM
@Number 6 - I have a computer streaming the station and recording it at home while I'm at the Barge, BUT I don't always remember to set that up before I leave!
Wes Steenson 6:53:47 PM
Years later, Steve Slutsky (Dr Licks) did something similar, transcribing Jamerson’s bass parts from classic Motown records. That project led to Standing In The Shadows Of Motown.
Lizbot (host) 6:54:05 PM
@Wes Steenson - Oh believe me, the U.Arts staff definitely impressed much James Jamerson playing into the bass students! Rightfully so
Lizbot (host) 6:55:14 PM
@Wes Steenson - It's so incredibly sad that James Jamerson died basically broke of alcoholism so young after providing such an iconic sound on so many classic soul albums
Lizbot (host) 6:56:34 PM
@Wes Steenson - Yeah, I remember that doc well. George & I rented it from ye olde mail-order DVD Netflix of yore. At some point, someone gifted me a DVD of it.
Number 6 6:57:43 PM
@Lizbot- I used to go in that back room and copy my shows onto a flashdrive. How do you record your shows now? I was trying to figure it out.
Lizbot (host) 6:59:52 PM
@Wes Steenson - Darlene Love experienced a resurgence in interest after another doc from that period, 20 Feet from Stardom, came out. She was cleaning houses in L.A. around that time and one of her songs came on the radio in the owner's house and she started singing along to her own song - It was Christmas Baby Please Come Home fro the Phil Spector Christmas Gift to You album - and the owner couldn't believe it was actually her!
Number 6 7:00:18 PM
I play everything off of my laptop and record it in Mixxx, but the mic breaks are all blank.
Number 6 7:01:38 PM
I just figured out in Audacity how to stitch all of the music parts together.
Number 6 7:02:22 PM
Also good for getting the mean nasty ugly words out of songs.
Lizbot (host) 7:02:24 PM
@Number 6 - I prefer MIxxx and use it when LRBing, but in studio at the Barge, (like I am right now,) I have to use Traktor because Mixxx doesn't work for me here. It's so easy to record shows while LRBing, but not so much at from the studio!
Number 6 7:03:37 PM
I have Traktor Pro, I need to figure out how to use it.
Lizbot (host) 7:04:20 PM
@Number 6 - I use Logic at home for editing naughty words outta songs before I put them in playlists. I find that the least stressful because then I know I don't have to wait poised by the slider and slide it down at just the right moment
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:04:59 PM
I weirdly haven’t listened to this David Byrne album in a while! Time to bust it back out.
Michael McCool 7:05:03 PM
Maxfield Parrish painted the interior of the Mask and Wig club on Quince street.
Lizbot (host) 7:05:05 PM
@Number 6 - I just have the free version of Traktor. It works fine on a Mac. It has only glitched out once for me in the past 6 months, and thankfully not DURING a show!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:54 PM
@Addie - This one always gets stuck in my head! I think it really sums up the anxiety I feel when I host a party! Like, i WANT to, but I also dread it to an extent!
Lizbot (host) 7:06:32 PM
@addie - also, I have the album and the live American Utopia versions, but I kinda prefer the live version of this song
Lizbot (host) 7:06:40 PM
Hi Michael McCool!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:06:57 PM
Right, it’s kind of threatening! They’re never gonna go home!
Number 6 7:07:29 PM
@Lizbot-I'll be bringing another laptop in to record, because my internet isn't so hot. I can record with the OBS software, but it makes it into MKS files.
Lizbot (host) 7:09:07 PM
@Michael McCool - Crazy! I've been there a handful of times and never realized that! Belle & Sebastian had an after-party there a couple decades ago that I went to, and a Fringe Fest party and a few other events, ages ago, and I remember some of the art in there, but I need to revisit it with this new info! Haven't been there is so long, but I assume it's still open
Lizbot (host) 7:10:57 PM
@Addie - EXACTLY! I know Byrne is a cagey anxious person who likes to have social events/dance/perform, but also struggles with anxiety, and I very much relate! I don't regret when I host an event, but good god, it can be overwhelming sometimes! He really captures it
Lizbot (host) 7:14:05 PM
@Number 6 - Hmmm, lemme know how that works! I need a better system because, if I don't remember to set up the computer at home to record before I leave for Princeton, it's too late and I'm not gonna have a copy. THat happened last week and I was so sad about it because I really enjoyed doing that upbeat jangle-poppy Doubleplusgood last week and I was having a lot of fun being a bit hyper on mic. I keep telling myself I will EVENTUALLY upload a bunch of the recorded shows to MixCloud...
Lizbot (host) 7:14:17 PM
@Number 6 - And of course now MixCloud isn't free anymore :(
Number 6 7:17:26 PM
I know, they charge $150 a year, but I don't think that any of those sites are free anymore. I think you can still put up 10 shows for free.
Michael McCool 7:17:32 PM
I remember the Belle and Sebastian after party but alas no ticket….
Lizbot (host) 7:19:12 PM
@Number 6 - yeah, i WISH i'd uploaded a bunch of episodes of ++good when MixCloud was still free! Do you know if they retroactively delete uploads that exceed 10 from the years when the service was free?
Mary Jones 7:19:34 PM
hello hello chat
Lizbot (host) 7:20:19 PM
@Michael McCool - I had a friend who worked at Repo Records on South St and we went to that B&S afterparty together. I just remember it was a very sweaty night and Stevie was DJing
Lizbot (host) 7:20:24 PM
Hi Mary!
Number 6 7:21:14 PM
@Lizbot- I think that you can put up 10 shows, but then you have to delete them to put up a max of 10.
Lizbot (host) 7:21:37 PM
@Michael McCool - The most recent Belle & Sebastian after-party in Philly my cousin and her husband DJed but i had a grumpy kid who wanted to be picked up from her babysitter! NOT the same kind of wild nights as the B&S parties of the early 2000s!
Number 6 7:21:50 PM
To put up new shows, you have to delete old ones.
Lizbot (host) 7:21:57 PM
@MAry Jones - What's on MVM this week! I missed you & Dennis last week!
Lizbot (host) 7:22:23 PM
@MAry - I hope you guys are less sick and less busy this week!

@Lizbot we watched Joe Dante's "Matinee", which was an absolute blast, I was so glad we watched it for the show. Our voices are finally back thankfully--I seem to be over the cold, not even coughing anymore.
Lizbot (host) 7:23:08 PM
Dang! I never realized how gooey the bass is in this song!
Lizbot (host) 7:23:29 PM
@Number 6 - ah, dang. That sucks!
Lizbot (host) 7:24:36 PM
@Mary Jones - Excellent! Glad to hear it! Oh yeah, I forgot you said a couple weeks ago you were doing Matinee! A movie I hadn't thought about since I saw it when it came out! Definitely would like to revisit that one. MANT!
Number 6 7:25:05 PM
You can put your shows on youtube, but they can be taken down if an artist complains about copyright.
Mary Jones 7:25:49 PM
MANT rocks, I would watch that if it was a real movie.
Lizbot (host) 7:26:21 PM
@Mary Jones - Joe Dante is from Morristown: North Jersey's confounding bizzaro Moorestown.
Lizbot (host) 7:27:47 PM
@Mary Jones - Absolutely! At some point I feel like I saw a list someone compiled online of fictional movies within other movies. We need a definitive list! I like that the band Arling & Cameron made soundtrack songs for imaginary films. I sometimes play their theme to "Hashi: The Drug-Sniffing Dog"!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:26 PM
@Number 6 - Yeah, I'm not messing around with YouTube and all that. Sound quality not as good either
Mary Jones 7:28:27 PM
@Lizbot and he went to the UArts in Philly IIRC! We went and saw his student project "The Movie Orgy" last year, it was fantastic.
Lizbot (host) 7:30:27 PM
@Number 6 - I could be wrong, but I feel like sound quality on YouTube isn't quite as good. But either way, I don't feel like that's a good way to archive my shows. I gotta bite the bullet and get the full version of MixCloud....If I ever get around to uploading everything. I first have to WeTransfer all my recordings to myself and edit the intro broadcast transfer music off the front of the recording in Logic
Lizbot (host) 7:31:58 PM
@Mary Jones - Nice! I wish I'd seen that! I've heard about it. George went to UArts. Of course the Brothers Quay went there too, back when it was called Philadelphia College of the Arts
Lizbot (host) 7:32:32 PM
@Mary Jones - I'm still digesting the news that PAFA won't be offering degree programs anymore. I worked there briefly in the early 2000s
Michael McCool 7:33:16 PM
Unlike the PAFA news
Lizbot (host) 7:33:18 PM
Strawberry cream puff holds great power
Mary Jones 7:34:05 PM
@Lizbot Yeah, I'm really stunned by how the humanities are being dismantled in general, but PAFA getting rid of degrees is really a surprise.
Mary Jones 7:34:33 PM
Dennis is still bitter about how Temple took apart Tyler, selling off the campus, etc.
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:36:09 PM
BAM
Lizbot (host) 7:36:12 PM
ANyone remember Taco House around 12th & Pine? It was almost entirely staffed by UArts students and had an entertaining photo collage on the wall behind the register that featured a funny dude I went to high school with in South Jersey in the early 90s who was "wanted for taco-napping".
Lizbot (host) 7:36:16 PM
Hi Chef!
Michael Garson 7:37:12 PM
You mean Taco House when all we had was tex mex in Philly?
Mary Jones 7:37:18 PM
Oh yeah! I remember Taco House!
Lizbot (host) 7:37:52 PM
@Mary Jones - It's pretty crazy. Before I read the headline yesterday, i just saw the photo of the giant paintbrush public sculpture and thought "Oh, theyre finally getting rid of that!"
Lizbot (host) 7:38:12 PM
@Mary Jones - Yeah, like Temple doesn't have enough money!
Mary Jones 7:38:26 PM
@Lizbot honest to god, it's never the news that it should be. (Everyone hates the paintbrush, right? Right?(
Lizbot (host) 7:39:28 PM
Hi Michael Garson!
Number 6 7:41:15 PM
@Lizbot- I just recorded 2 min. of your show with the OBS software. It is an MKS file, but Windows media player seems to play it okay.
Rob from Merryland 🦅 7:41:20 PM
The Magma piece was great!
Ossy 7:41:31 PM
Spaceface, havent heard that for long. Love the "happens all the time" verse all the time
Michael Garson 7:41:55 PM
I'm hearing a lot of Sparks, hoping everything ok with them? Whenever I hear a lot of someone I think it's in tribute.
Stitching Pink 7:42:46 PM
So happy to get within liatening range of your show. Have super enjoyed last hour of my drive home!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:46 PM
@Michael Garson - Yeah, pickings were slim. I lived in a studio apartment on 16th & Spruce in the late 90s/to the early/mid 2000s, and at that location, was surrounded by UArts housing and student rentals. Taco House wasn't a great option, but it was convenient to me! Sausalito on South Street was so much better and had those giant veggie burritos prepared Mission style, but when I couldn't get there, it was Taco House or the place near Graduate Hospital...
Lizbot (host) 7:43:53 PM
@Michael Garson - Don't worry! I am just a huge Sparks fan! Ron & Russell are still going strong, but someone on the Sparks facebook fan site DID actually freak me out the other day but posting vague about "no more Sparks" and I thought for a second I'd have to do a tribute!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:05 PM
Hi Stitching Pink!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:53 PM
@Stitching Pink - I'm happy you could tune in! Glad to provide the soundtrack for yr drive!
Lizbot (host) 7:45:22 PM
@Stitching Pink - P.S.: I accidentally typed "Stitching Punk" at first, and now I'm imagining what that show would sound like!
Michael McCool 7:45:25 PM
Taco house is now a sushi restaurant
Stitching Pink 7:45:39 PM
Shonen knife as we turned on our street!
Stitching Pink 7:46:04 PM
Well I tell mu daughter i am punk on the inside.
Michael Garson 7:46:41 PM
It was Taco House and that small diner on 12th and Spruce back then. Can't remember the name...
Lizbot (host) 7:47:40 PM
@Michael McCool - Yeah, that place is looooong gone. What was the place near Graduate Hospital (the actual hospital, not that neighborhood in general)? It's long gone too. It had booths and Oaxacan wood carvings from The Eyes Gallery on its walls, and mock beef burritos very cheap when I was vegetarian and broke
Michael McCool 7:48:24 PM
Tangier?
Michael McCool 7:49:04 PM
No tangier was a bar
Lizbot (host) 7:50:38 PM
I first heard this song I'm playing now (by Soul Rebels Brass Band) coming from a boombox being carried by a very slickly-dress guy in NOLA and I asked what it was and immediately bought the album
Ossy 7:51:05 PM
I recall this track in the movie Coach Carter!!
Lizbot (host) 7:52:53 PM
@Stitching Pink - How's Lucy adjusting to college life?? I think I heard you mention she has a radio show!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:32 PM
From New Orleans to Boston..
Lizbot (host) 7:53:49 PM
@Ossy - oh wow! I didn't know!
Number 6 7:55:20 PM
Thanks for another fine upstanding show, BCNU!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:45 PM
@Michael McCool - Not Tangier, but wow, haven't thought of that place in years! A friend had a very rowdy bday party there a long time ao
Alan Pasnyk 7:55:56 PM
Hi Lizbot!! I tuned in during the Shonen Knife track...WOW! Great track and guitar ..Thanks!!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:21 PM
Hello Alan Pasnyk! I'm glad you got a chance to tune in! haha, yeah and there are SO fun live!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:28 PM
Thanks, Number 6 !
Lizbot (host) 7:59:09 PM
I lied. One last song!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 8:00:04 PM
Thanks for this wonderful show, Lizbot!
