Lizbot (host) 5:07:11 PM
Hi DSM! haha, yeah, I only noticed Esoterica was still logged in ont eh Barge computer after I had already entered a couple of songs in spinitron, so I was scrambling to log her out and then recreate page before 5!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:38 PM
Didn't notice Esoterica logged in UNTIL I said hello in the chat at 5:00! THen I saw her screen name! Oops!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:55 PM
Always thrill a minute here at WPRB!
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:08:33 PM
Yes, they must be diverted to the thrusters. Cross posting. Chits are chatting in another chat. We must open all windows and save them.

....and XTC time!!
Roffle 5:14:19 PM
Hi Lizbot! Thank you for XTC right now! Perfect!
Lizbot (host) 5:14:41 PM
@Mike Lupica - Usually the Spinitron is already logged out in the Barge, but when it isn't, I sometimes don't notice until I type something in the chat and see the wrong screen-name!
Number 6 5:14:42 PM
Data B. Goode.
Lizbot (host) 5:15:17 PM
@Roffle - Glad you're enjoying it! I should have played this one on my circus songs theme from many years ago but I didn't think of it then!
Alan Pasnyk 5:15:33 PM
Hi Roffle!!! It was a High Energy day today, hope urs was gooood....
methuselah mouse. 5:15:47 PM
obsessed with this album
Lizbot (host) 5:16:32 PM
@methuselah mouse. - It's SO good...what, which on? The Monks or XTC's Nonsuch? Both are great!
Roffle 5:16:52 PM
Excellent Alan! You have the gene that always looks up. Love that!
methuselah mouse. 5:16:53 PM
LOL I meant Nonsuch but both tbh
Lizbot (host) 5:17:14 PM
@Number 6 - Data B. Goode...That needs to be recorded as a chiptune version of Johnny B Goode.
Lizbot (host) 5:17:43 PM
@methuselah mouse. - Yeah, I love this song so much, I play it as I drive over the bridge to Long Beach Island down the Jersey shore every summer!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:21 PM
@methuselah mouse. - It's not on a Monks album, per se, It's a B-side, but it's on the expanded reissue of Black Monk Time too
Roffle 5:18:32 PM
Nonesuch is a record label that is beyound compare.
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 5:18:46 PM
BAM I thought this was trout fishing in America
Lizbot (host) 5:18:58 PM
Hello there Chef!
Roffle 5:19:27 PM
Ba Bang!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:45 PM
@Roffle - There is nonesuch label I like more than Nonesuch, alas, Nonsuch is not found on it!
Roffle 5:20:05 PM
Cook that trout Chef!
Lizbot (host) 5:20:25 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - I am glad you had a Hi NRG day because today's Doubleplusgood is gonna match that vibe!
Alan Pasnyk 5:20:41 PM
Lizbot: Great set, 'cause it's windy and cold outside in E. PA..
Alan Pasnyk 5:21:30 PM
Lizbot: Today you can run around like crazy, and not even break a sweat...January!
Lizbot (host) 5:21:52 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Thanks! Same in Philly and Princeton! I felt like my car was getting pummeled by wind on the way here, BUT it was sunny and gorgeous out
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:22:44 PM
Sparks!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:45 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - True! ONE advantage to the cold! As long as the air isn't so cold and dry that your lungs seize up! I am wearing an extra layer and nice and toasty at the moment!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:07 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - You KNOW I am gonna play SPARKS when I'm hyper!
Roffle 5:23:07 PM
Lizbot, just let me know when you and George are having a bar day, I would love to discuss that! lol!

Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:24:13 PM
@Lizbot, and I'm glad you have played Sparks!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:27 PM
@Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 - Which song did you think was Trout Fishing in America? You cooking up some bass? I like my bass gooey and fretless
Lizbot (host) 5:25:03 PM
@Roffle - Will do!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:25:28 PM
ENO (is god!)
Roffle 5:25:44 PM
The future is wide open. Cool!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:14 PM
Eno going on about rowing little crafts yet again. What a boat guy!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:40 PM
Andt then going on about the band A Certain Ratio...and later in this song, The Modern Lovers
Lizbot (host) 5:27:01 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - Eno is God and God likes boats
Bud Burroughs 5:27:54 PM
Hello Lizbot! Didn't Eno just do a whole multimedia project about The Ship?
Lizbot (host) 5:28:00 PM
@Roffle / Chef Emeril - If I learned anything from British electronic musician Mr. Scruff, it's that trout are very dangerous and have underwater weapons. Keep away from the trout!
Lizbot (host) 5:28:10 PM
Please Stand Clear of the Snapping Trout.
Lizbot (host) 5:28:23 PM
Hi Bud Burroughs!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:28:23 PM
@Lizbot and today I discovered that the lyrics are not "seven-foot shark" but "central shaft"
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:29:58 PM
@Lizbot -- re A Certain Ratio "The band's name is taken from the lyric of Brian Eno's song "The True Wheel" from his solo studio album Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) (1974)."
Lizbot (host) 5:30:01 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - ooooh, "seven-foot shark" should be an alternate mix. Maybe if The Modern Lovers [reunited and] covered this The True Wheel. A 7-foot shark and an abominable snowman in the market
Roffle 5:30:03 PM
Yup, If they can eat you. Just leave while you can! Rule of thumb!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:31:53 PM
(A Certain Ratio was formed in 1977)
Mark Davies 5:32:35 PM
Eno wow great tune !!!
Justin 5:35:42 PM
I saw the movie "Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy) on a flight to Japan once. Such a wonderfully awful movie
Lizbot (host) 5:37:06 PM
Hi Mark Davies! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for tuning in!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:30 PM
Hi Justin! Haha, I was always curious about that mobie
Lizbot (host) 5:37:44 PM
*movie
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:37:57 PM
This Sonic Blume song is quite nice
Bud Burroughs 5:38:03 PM
I feel like one of Cheer-Accident's poppier songs is likely to make an appearance in this set list.
Lizbot (host) 5:39:24 PM
@Justin - ANOTHER Japanese movie whose title was borrowed for an album I love is Emperor Tomato Ketchup, which Stereolab used for one of their best albums! I have heard it is an incredibly bizarre movie that involves an uprising during which children take over the world
Lizbot (host) 5:39:57 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - It's so jangly and sunshiney! These guys were teens from North Jersey when they put this song out!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:24 PM
@Bud Burroughs - you MIGHT be right....
Lizbot (host) 5:42:07 PM
@Bud Burroughs - I could make that happen in this set or the next
Bud Burroughs 5:42:43 PM
I would be entirely OK with that.
Lizbot (host) 5:42:52 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - I figured A Certain Ratio took their name from the lyrics of A True Wheel, but I don't know that for sure
Justin 5:43:15 PM
It's a Chinese movie about the civil war that ended with the communists winning. Pure propaganda, nary a whisp of sublety
Lizbot (host) 5:44:16 PM
@Justin - Ah! Welp, I guess the the military bent of that title was quite literal then!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:46:04 PM
Hello to the chat!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:23 PM
@Justin - I have been wanting to get to Japan, and I don't sleep on planes, so I gotta line up a LOT of movies to watch. If I manage to doze off at any point after watching Emperor Tomato Ketchup, I'll probably have bizarre dreams. I think I'll skip Taking Tiger Mountain
Lizbot (host) 5:46:28 PM
Hello Addie!
Lizbot (host) 5:47:11 PM
@Bud Burroughs - Stick around and it will become a reality..
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:47:15 PM
It’s a seasonably chilly night here in VT for once! We might actually get snow this weekend.
Roffle 5:48:00 PM

Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:48:38 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:48:46 PM
@Addie - I thought of Commie when I queued this up
DSM 5:48:50 PM
People say they monkey around
Lizbot (host) 5:49:42 PM
@Roffle - yeah, occasionally I whip out a Monkees tune, rare for me as it is. I did grow up watching the show
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:49:53 PM
Ah but this is Mickey not Mike! I associate her more with him specifically.
Roffle 5:50:48 PM
@Addie, Gotta love how shit seems to just happen. I am sure that is alignment somehow in in this crazy shit.
Lizbot (host) 5:50:52 PM
when I was 7 or so, I organized the friends at my birthday party to march through my neighborhood with pots & pans from my parents' kitchen, smacking them and yelling "HEY HEY WE'RE THE MONKEES!" theme at the tops of our lungs
Alan Pasnyk 5:51:35 PM
Hiiii Addie S&S gonna send Snow your way
Roffle 5:51:46 PM

DJ Readie in da Haus...Hi!
Lizbot (host) 5:53:31 PM
@Addie - True she loves Mike. I think of Mickey's appearances on Julie Klausner's show "Difficult People" and smile!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:53:38 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:55:30 PM

Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:57:51 PM
@Lizbot, re Sonic Blume, teens from North Jersey (and other places) make the best music
Lizbot (host) 5:58:02 PM
@Number 6 - haha, I just didn't even notice! Was busy prepping for the show and noticed it got dark for a bit, thought it was rain! Certainly didn't stick to the ground, which is fine by me!
Francis 5:58:16 PM
Oh wow - haven't listened to these guys in a while - good times
Roffle 5:58:35 PM

DJ Readie 5:59:13 PM
Hiya Lizbot! You were saying why were you thinking about the shore in January- just when one of the OG hotels I stay at sent an early reservation email and I was looking at the calendar!!!
Francis 5:59:20 PM
You guys know that Pleasant Valley Sunday was written about a street in W. Orange NJ, by Carole King?
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:59:27 PM
Lizbot, really??!! Cool! Are they touring the states?
Lizbot (host) 5:59:44 PM
@Addie - oh CRAZY! WHat a bill! I'd love to have seen that! And I love The Mann!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 5:59:56 PM
@Francis, I knew that Carole King wrote that song, I didn't know that it was about a NJ street
Alan Pasnyk 6:00:19 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:00:28 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - Ah, I need to read that wiki!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 6:00:44 PM
We had literally two snowflakes in Merryland just before noon.
Francis 6:01:00 PM
Yep -not too far from where I lived during med school. Written about the surburban life/keeping up w/ the Joneses
DJ Readie 6:01:07 PM

Bud Burroughs 6:02:07 PM
And just the song I was thinking of!
Roffle 6:02:35 PM
Carole King wrote a lot before she was personally produced on tracks. Brilliant girl! Older then me, but still, I respect smart!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:39 PM
@DJ Readie - oh wow! Mind meld! My cousin and her fam just spent Christmas break at a hotel in Cape May! Cheaper in the winter by a considerable amount!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 6:02:49 PM
Hello Readie, Alan, Addie, and everyone
Lizbot (host) 6:03:09 PM
@Francis - I knew it was a Carole King/Gerry Goffin song, but didn't know it was about West Orange! Crazy!

DJ Readie 6:04:16 PM
Hi Rob from Merryland!
Alan Pasnyk 6:04:18 PM
@ Rob: 'cause he's up here, saw one TV today...
Lizbot (host) 6:04:28 PM
@Bud Burroughs - Yet more mind melding action to melt the january frosts! It fits with this set!
DJ Readie 6:04:49 PM
@Lizbot- Love the shore in the winter, or anytime for that matter!!!
Bud Burroughs 6:05:09 PM
Yep, jangly and melodic.
Lizbot (host) 6:05:15 PM
@Roffle - Carole King def one of the greats. I gotta read up on Pleasant Valley Sunday backstory. Reminds me of Harper Valley PTA!
Lizbot (host) 6:05:34 PM
@Alan - That's a great quote!
Roffle 6:06:43 PM
Love melting with you too Readie. It's what we do with it here. For me it's get it sometimes or get on. Easy peazy. It's good!I love it!
Alan Pasnyk 6:08:09 PM
@Lizbot:" Today we're going to try to land on the moon" - Neil Armstrong, 'cause he knew how many things could go wrong back then...
Alan Pasnyk 6:10:01 PM
....apparently Carole King was somewhat surprised that she made it bigtime...
Roffle 6:12:42 PM
She wrote in a platform that wrote hits. She knew what she was doing for sure.
DJ Readie 6:13:30 PM
Carole King was great in Gilmore Girls as the music shop owner.
Francis 6:14:00 PM
Carole King was also on Gilmore Girls - she played a music store owner
Joe Moore 6:14:13 PM
Burl Ives is a carol king.
Francis 6:14:15 PM
LOL
DJ Readie 6:14:33 PM
@Francis- great minds think alike! 🤣
DJ Readie 6:15:13 PM
Ha ha Joe Moore- good one!
Lizbot (host) 6:15:17 PM
@Francis - And specifically a street in West Orange...I am wondering if Carole lived on that street? I gotta read the backstory!
Roffle 6:15:38 PM
I Love King! I am just not ready to go there Joe!
Lizbot (host) 6:15:45 PM
@DJ Readie - It's crazy. I already gotta map out my summer and sign Hattie up for camps!
Michael McCool 6:16:26 PM
Super great set tonight
Alan Pasnyk 6:16:35 PM
@Lizbot: "Even As.." Love that track!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:40 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - Re; HEavenly tour - Yup! Amelia posted some rehearsal photos! I know at least a few ppl trekking up from Philly for it!
Lizbot (host) 6:17:56 PM
PSA: Don't pick a cat's eyes out. I think this phrase is Scottish slang for...something, I dunno
Roffle 6:18:15 PM
West Orange? That is where I would wind up lost after visiting my girl friend in Union,NJ
Lizbot (host) 6:18:26 PM
Hi Michael McCool! Thanks! I"m glad you're enjoying it!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:06 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - I gotta listen to more Even As We Speak! That track is such pop perfection
Joe Moore 6:19:13 PM
My wife lived in West Orange when we were dating. Around the corner from Jimmy Buffs. Also Star Tavern pizza. West Orange rules.
Lizbot (host) 6:19:36 PM
Hi Joe Moore!
DJ Readie 6:19:37 PM
@Michael McCool-hiya! are you related to Bob McCool by any chance?
Lizbot (host) 6:20:25 PM
@Joe Moore - I grew up in South Jersey so North Jersey was always a mysterious hinterland to me! I got so incredibly lost in Morristown attempting to drop off my friend's boyfriend from there in the mid-90s
Francis 6:20:39 PM
YES - King wrote about that street, as they moved out to the Burbs, and lived on the street
Rob from Merryland 🦅 6:22:22 PM
I've been running ...
Roffle 6:22:41 PM
North Jersey remains a a mysterious hinterland.
Lizbot (host) 6:22:48 PM
Every time i play this song I think of a rad school project my kid did in 7th grade where she scored her short film she made about direct action to this song. Most of the kids in the class had never heard The Clash before but they all kept asking about this song and saying how much they liked it and I was pleased!
Francis 6:23:20 PM
Grew up in Morristown area - tons of history, old houses, and history
Roffle 6:23:36 PM
That's what the map says!
Andrew G 6:23:40 PM
i grew up one town over from West Orange. Not a bad place
Lizbot (host) 6:23:53 PM
@Roffle - haha, yeah, despite there being an Elizabeth, NJ, my name + my home state, I am baffled by North Jersey! What are these DISCO fries and taylor HAM they speak of? pork roll is a real thing, and it is from CENTRAL Jersey!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 6:23:59 PM
@ Alan, maybe he (the Turkey Vulture) will come back south tomorrow
Lizbot (host) 6:24:04 PM
Hi Andrew G!
Francis 6:24:13 PM
Montville for me (not Montvale)
Lizbot (host) 6:24:37 PM
@Andrew G - I have briefly traversed the Oranges when looking for a house to pick up a thing I bought on Craigslist in like 1999
Lizbot (host) 6:25:02 PM
@Andrew G - Actually it was more like 2004. Either way, I got lost yet again!
Andrew G 6:25:09 PM
hi! Wait...Pleasant Valley Sunday is about that part of WO???
Francis 6:25:41 PM
Uh oh - lets not start the pork roll Taylor ham thingy. Yes - that song is about that street, when King lived there in W.O.
Andrew G 6:25:44 PM
yeah, the streets are a bit convoluted up there!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:33 PM
The Roches and Fran Lebowitz and Yo La Tengo and The Feelies and a ton of other people and bands I like come from North Jersey, but past Central Jersey I am totally in unfamiliar turf
Roffle 6:26:40 PM
I lived in Moorestown. Sounds like it.
Francis 6:27:54 PM
Holy Crap - never knew that Clash song was a cover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E5aF_rdX9Q
Roffle 6:28:30 PM
The Roches! Another reason I love being on the same page with you Lizbot! Jersey Girls!
Old NewHopian 6:28:36 PM
Loving everything tonight from suburbs of Quakertown Pa. Happy new year Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:46 PM
@Francis - Eddy Grant and Equals! I have played the original on the show before, but I like the clash cover better, honestly! Higher energy!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:29 PM
@Francis - I always thought it was funny that there's Moorestown in South Jersey and Morristown in North Jersey. Is Morristown the Bizarro Moorestown? Kinda like Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station
Lizbot (host) 6:29:39 PM
Hi Old NewHopian!
Lizbot (host) 6:30:08 PM
@Old NewHopian - I'm glad you're enjoying the show from Quakertown! Happy 2024!
Lizbot (host) 6:30:47 PM
@Roffle - The Roches were pal-ing around with Robert Fripp in the late 70s/early 80s, and I love their collab so much!
Francis 6:30:51 PM
I'm pretty sure Morristown is the original - home of Washingtons headquarters
Roffle 6:31:59 PM
Newark Penn Station will get you to any where in the world. But...
Lizbot (host) 6:33:07 PM
@Francis - It's a mirror world - I can only assume that everything in Morristown is the exact opposite of Moorestown.
Lizbot (host) 6:33:43 PM
@Roffle - Newark Penn Station goes in the annals of Epic errors in naming judgment!
Roffle 6:34:58 PM
IKR Lizbot? Produced that amazing album. He said back in the day that they are the only people he would jam with. That's quite the thing.
Joe Moore 6:36:04 PM
There's a weird museum of old robot/computer weird stuff in Morristown.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:36:54 PM
I’ve been to Morristown solely because I raised Seeing Eye dogs, and would get to go watch them from afar working with their trainers.
Lizbot (host) 6:36:58 PM
@Roffle - I am fascinated by the idea of having sisters to grow up harmonizing with like that! They were so cool!
Brian D 6:37:18 PM
Great stuff as per uzhe LizB
Roffle 6:37:57 PM
They go weird Liz, but it is cool to watch this world go on.
Lizbot (host) 6:38:46 PM
Hi Brian D!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:56 PM
@Brian D - Thanks!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 6:39:27 PM
@Lizbot, I LOVE the Roches album produced by Fripp!! I think the Richmond VA album-oriented station, WRXL (XL 102) played it when it came out? I taped it off the radio and soon enough bought the album.
Lizbot (host) 6:40:37 PM
@Joe Moore - A robot/computer museum! I live for stuff like that! I am overdue for a daytrip to various points north in Jersey! Usually I'm just passing through North Jersey on my way to some event in NYC and I never get enough time to stop and make a detour on the way up. It has to be its own excursion!
Roffle 6:41:51 PM
Right on Rob! I loved the Daryl Hall too! Something In4/4 time was amazing stuff...
Roffle 6:42:47 PM
Same sorta guitar mid thing, but nice again by Fripp.
Lizbot (host) 6:43:04 PM
@Roffle - Fripp is a discerning gentleman. I speak, of course, of my parrot, but Robert's got pretty good taste too
Lizbot (host) 6:44:15 PM
@Addie - oh wow, we used to read a PSA for raising seeing eye puppies on the station. I wonder if it was the same organization. They were somewhere in Jersey. This was many years ago. It was about raising them when they are tiny, then they go to a professional trainer
Lizbot (host) 6:44:46 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅- I still have some of my old taped-off-the-radio tapes in boxes in the basement!
Roffle 6:45:26 PM
Hey Lizbot! We indeed should parrot. That is where we make up words from. Let'er rip!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 6:45:44 PM
@Roffle, yeah!
g jackson 6:47:48 PM
Just checking in to say this is the best show I’ve heard EVER.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:48:24 PM
@lizbot that’s the one! Morristown is the only place where Seeing Eye dogs are trained.
Lizbot (host) 6:48:47 PM
@Roffle - Fripp and Toyah's lawn got VERY flooded in those crazy UK rains this week. Toyah was kayaking through the garden!
Lizbot (host) 6:49:00 PM
Hi g jackson! Thank you so much!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:38 PM
@Addie - Ah! Nice! We should dig up that old PSA! It was in one our beat-up old disintegrating binders in the old studio!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:58 PM
@Addie - I had forgotten about that organization! Thx for the reminder!
g jackson 6:51:02 PM
Seriously. It is. And your shows are always great. Ok I’m out. Still’ll be listening on regular car radio. Have a great night
Lizbot (host) 6:51:10 PM
@Roffle - I parrot that thought!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:51:11 PM
Fun fact: the person whose first Seeing Eye dog was the first one I raised wrote a book about it.
Lizbot (host) 6:51:28 PM
@g jackson - aw, thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!
Alan Pasnyk 6:51:59 PM
@ Addie: Big kudos to u for sure!
Joe Moore 6:52:17 PM
G Jackson is all of us.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:52:52 PM
@Alan I think my family raised 6 or 7 Seeing Eye dogs! Talk about rewarding.
Roffle 6:53:04 PM
I love some of the Toyah! She is fun! That's so good!
Joe Moore 6:53:43 PM
That is so cool Addie. Did you get the book?
Roffle 6:54:22 PM
Are we then birdbrains Liz?
Roffle 6:56:35 PM
Free to fly... Etc...
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:58:43 PM
@joe I did! You’re not supposed to ever know who gets the dogs you raise and vice versa, but she had the book sent to us through the seeing eye. I’ve never been able to get past the part where she talks about the moments before losing her sight. Too sad!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:38 PM
And a North Jersey band is coming up next... Haledon, NJ
Alan Pasnyk 7:01:48 PM
Lizbot: Perfect timing this La's track!!!
Roffle 7:02:21 PM
Hey Addie, Love need not be written is Braille.
Francis 7:03:40 PM
I went to High School in Mo-Town (Delbarton), and we used to see those poor blind dogs walking all around
Lizbot (host) 7:03:58 PM
@Addie - Whoa! What's the title??
Lizbot (host) 7:04:15 PM
@Joe Moore - aw, thanks!
Andrew G 7:04:19 PM
@lizbot: did you get to one of the Lilys shows? they were 🔥 on Saturday!
Lizbot (host) 7:06:02 PM
I wanna make a pilgrimage to Ardent Studios in Memphis one of these days. Maria T of Her Jazz visited there once years ago and the studio was very much intact and open to walk around casually with so much old gear around
DJ Readie 7:06:13 PM
@Lizbot- this is one of my fave songs ever! Thanks for playing it!
Alan Pasnyk 7:06:20 PM
@ Lizbot: This show is sooo good it deserves two FM radios on!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:27 PM
@Andrew G - I had tickets to the 30th that I bought back when they went on sale, BUT I had to skip it cuz my kid really didn't want to hang at a babysitter's and there was so much covid going around, i wussed out!
Francis 7:07:39 PM
what's that song quote by the 'Mats - "Won't get far without a little Big Star"?
Lizbot (host) 7:07:48 PM
@DJ Readie - THat makes me happy! Glad you heard it!
DJ Readie 7:08:34 PM
😘
DJ Readie 7:09:41 PM
and again!!🔥🔥
Ossy 7:10:08 PM
Hi Space Lady Bot, where the fun never ends like Garfield and friends!
Lizbot (host) 7:10:58 PM
@Francis - I love that. The Big Star doc was great too. I was glad to hear lots of Big Star in a movie my teen was watching, Adventureland. Spreading the gospel of the #1 Record to the youth
Alan Pasnyk 7:11:17 PM
Hi Ossy! glad u r here!
DJ Readie 7:11:20 PM
Rickenbachers drive me crazy (in a good way)
Roffle 7:11:24 PM
I love that Rickenbacker sound!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:47 PM
Hi Ossy! haha, Garfield and his lesser known cousin, Barfield
Roffle 7:11:49 PM
Not sure, but...
DJ Readie 7:11:52 PM
@Roffle - LOL! great minds again
Lizbot (host) 7:12:31 PM

DJ Readie 7:12:46 PM
In 2024, I will have to reprise my Jangle show...inspiration right here
Roffle 7:13:10 PM
Love you Readie! You are rather on.
DJ Readie 7:13:41 PM
*Rickenbacker*
Lizbot (host) 7:13:54 PM
@Francis - I never knew Morristown ppl called it Mo-Town! I hope the seeing eye dogs had 20/20 vision!
DJ Readie 7:14:02 PM
Backatcha Roff!!
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:14:38 PM
NOV 14, 1969 Byrds played Dillon Gym. I was there with my friend Lamont.
Roffle 7:14:41 PM
I bought two guitars this month just for the Jangle of throwing glass at amplifiers!
Roffle 7:15:26 PM
Single coil love!
Ossy 7:16:14 PM
Evening Alan and haha Liz, like that oh so cute talkative gray cat, Nermal!
Ossy 7:16:34 PM
And evening Readie Rainbow!
Lizbot (host) 7:16:52 PM
@DJ Readie - Yeah, I was in a jangly mood today! Feeling hyper and invigorated by the bright winter sun! I have done a couple all jangle shows but today's is not entirely jangly, but quite a bit is!
DJ Readie 7:17:24 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - that must have been amazing! The Byrds at Dillon! cool!
Lizbot (host) 7:17:33 PM
@Addie - Okay, I'm emailing that to myself! Does she thank you in the inside cover for raising her pup??! I hope so!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:17:45 PM
The jangle was really what was needed tonight though, so thank you!
DJ Readie 7:18:21 PM
@Liz- yes- it's the best ! janglies!!!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:18:26 PM
Sadly no, she didn’t know my name at the time of writing it!

Lizbot (host) 7:19:42 PM
@Ossy - Nermal is catching some rays in Abu Dhabi at the moment!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:41 PM
@Francis - And children by the million sing for Alex Chilton when he comes 'round
DJ Readie 7:21:05 PM
Jangly is curative!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 7:21:34 PM
@LIZBOT circling back around to say that it was the MONKS song at 5:15 that sounded like Trout Fishing in America, specifically the vocals sounding like Ezra's. TFIA is an amazing children's music band (and I think my first ever concert) but they also have some music for Adults
Lizbot (host) 7:22:36 PM
@Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 - Ah! Okay, I could see that! I remember them from a folk fest I attended a couple decades ago!
Lizbot (host) 7:22:50 PM
@DJ Readie - 'Tis true! Jangle the blues away!
Lizbot (host) 7:23:44 PM
@Addie - Dang. But you know what you did and it was awesome you had a significant part in improving her quality of life!
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:24:58 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:26:39 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - Jangling in the new year!
Lizbot (host) 7:27:15 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - I do too. It sounds like a pleasing forest clearing!
Rob from Merryland 🦅 7:27:26 PM

Yes Liz. Friar LaPica saves so many souls today. Ye chat is phat. Let us toast Fr. LaPica.
Lizbot (host) 7:28:30 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - i love that song so much. Also the line about sitting together to stare at screens in tandem
Rob from Merryland 🦅 7:28:52 PM
@Lizbot, not really pleasing: "For the band, see Downy Mildew (band). Downy mildew refers to any of several types of oomycete microbes that are obligate parasites of plants. In commercial agriculture, they are a particular problem for growers of crucifers, grapes and vegetables that grow on vines."
Wes Steenson 7:28:58 PM
@DJ Readie - and here I was doing an online search about Rickenbacker guitars - specifically how the way they are wired that makes them Sound Like That.
Rob from Merryland 🦅 7:29:00 PM
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downy_mildew
Lizbot (host) 7:29:00 PM
I love these strings!
Alan Pasnyk 7:29:23 PM
Lizbot: I remember when you did a New years Eve show...I was hesitant to get into the chat 'cause I just had the laptop fixed lol and you played "This Year"...
DJ Readie 7:29:28 PM
@Rob- Strum & Thrum!!
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:29:42 PM
Oomycete microbes oh my goodness.
Wes Steenson 7:29:52 PM
@Lizbot Nice to see XTC on the playlist!
Lizbot (host) 7:30:04 PM
@Roffle - Nice! George just bought a fretless bass! I EXPECT SO MUCH GOOEY BASS! He'd better get crackin' making some early 80s Bill Nelson- esque stuff!
Number 6 7:30:13 PM
Don't forget about Subjangle Records!
Lizbot (host) 7:30:43 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - Strum & Thrum!

Rob from Merryland 🦅 7:31:04 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu, I was working at a biology abstracts database when I came across the band Downy Mildew. I just cracked up.
Lizbot (host) 7:31:33 PM
Hi Wes Steenson! Oh yes, and one I hadn't played before
Rob from Merryland 🦅 7:32:00 PM
@Lizbot, yes, Strum and Thrum. I am pretty sure I know where I put it when I took it out of my car. It may make a quick return
Lizbot (host) 7:32:27 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Oh yeah...Was that New Year's Eve or Thanksgiving? EIther way I am 90% sure it was 2020 and I was at broadcasting from home!
Roffle 7:32:48 PM
Nice Lizbot! I love fretletless to a degree. I played cello, and love it. Frets are nice however. lol
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:32:49 PM

I have a little Fender Mustang amp with a "British '60s setting...pretty jangly
Lizbot (host) 7:34:09 PM
LOVE that absolutely heavenly organ at the end of Talulah Gosh! With Cathy and Amelia harmonizing = pure bliss!
Alan Pasnyk 7:34:22 PM
@ Lizbot: It was New Year's Eve and you played "This Year" by The Mountain Goats...right on cue tooo, U R Psychic!!
Roffle 7:34:39 PM
I do want a fretless guitar and bass, but, I am fine at the moment. I really have way too much stuff. lol
Lizbot (host) 7:35:11 PM
@DJ Readie - Nice!
DJ Readie 7:35:45 PM
This is inspiring me to drag the gear outta the closet, @Liz!
Alan Pasnyk 7:35:48 PM
@Lizbot: and 2020 sounds about right...
Lizbot (host) 7:35:48 PM
@Rob from Merryland 🦅 - Excellent. My plan is coming to fruition. I will reverse-age my listeners to toss twee at them forever! MUAhaha
Lizbot (host) 7:36:27 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - No wine with those pesky Oomycete microbes chomping all the grapes away
Roffle 7:36:37 PM
I love those little amps! I have a Squire bass practice amp that I run my jangle thru and it works really nice..
Wes Steenson 7:36:59 PM
Also Pleasant Valley Sunday - Mike Nesmith of The Monkees preferred the sound of the Gretsch electric 12 string. Different kind of jangle. A high school friend’s father owned one.
Roffle 7:38:38 PM
Nesmith played that thing with six strings. lol
DJ Readie 7:39:44 PM
@Roffle- very sweet!!
Wes Steenson 7:40:08 PM
@Lizbot - Some unsolicited advice to G from someone who played fretless bass for years: Practice scales to acquire good intonation.
Wes Steenson 7:42:05 PM
@Roffle I wasn’t referring to that song specifically, but look for videos of Nesmith playing with the Monkees on their reunion tours and you’ll see the Gretsch 12.
DJ Readie 7:42:15 PM
Beautiful Nuala! 💓
Roffle 7:42:20 PM
Let it outta the closet Readie!
DJ Readie 7:43:14 PM
@Roff- it will be liberated!!!
Roffle 7:43:44 PM
I hear ya Wes! I love that guitar! It is so classic in every way!

Lizbot (host) 7:49:42 PM
@DJ Readie - I am imagining you singing The Byrds and that makes me happy!
DJ Readie 7:50:24 PM
@Lizbot- I need a harmonizer! wink wink, nudge nudge!! Nice way to spend a quick-flying 3 hours - jangle on, lovelies! Thx Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:06 PM
@Wes Steenson - I'll pass that along to G! He used to outsource all his fretless bass needs for songs he wrote that called for it to a certain Jesse Krakow of the band Time of Orchids
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:51:38 PM

@Roffle - George was looking at fretless guitars too. He found a lot of very sculptural beautiful fretless basses online, but he doesn't want to buy any instrument he can't try out first, so he got a very utilitarian one that is kinda boring looking but sounds good, which is all one can really hope for. There aren't a lot of brick and mortar guitar stores that carry fretless basses these days!
