Rob from Maryland 5:02:54 PM
@Lizbot, could you play "In The Winter" by The Fastbacks?
Rob from Maryland 5:03:05 PM
And good afternoon everyone
Lizbot (host) 5:03:09 PM
HI Steve P!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:15 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland!
Francis 5:03:36 PM
I hate the short days. When I retire, I'll become bi-hemispherical, and winter in NZ or Oz
Rob from Maryland 5:03:53 PM
Hi Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:14 PM
Hi Francis! That sounds amazing. I have fantasized about that concept many times, kinda like The Endless Summer. However, I do love the fall and December. But I could do without January & February in the Mid-Atlantic coast. I'd plan my returns for late March, sorta like a migrational bird
Lizbot (host) 5:06:11 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I will see what I can do! Might have to download it as I go
Carlos Ramone. 5:08:24 PM
Greetings…when kids were young we would tell them that starting tomorrow there would be a bit more sunlight each afternoon and eventually we could go outside to play after dinner…they didn’t buy it until late March..
Lizbot (host) 5:10:42 PM
Hi Carlos Ramone! yeeeeeeah, it's a long haul! I adore the fall in this area, and December skies/sun is gorgeous, but then I wanna fast-forward to early spring just after New Year's Day!
stevie p 5:11:17 PM
such a nice tangy mélange today!
Rob from Maryland 5:11:33 PM
Thanks, Lizbot. No worries if you can't
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:12:47 PM
Hi alll! Tuning in for my drive home. Merry Yule!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:56 PM
@Carlos Ramone / Francis - I often think about this one SNL commercial sketch from the 90s where a dad, (I THINK it was Chris Farley, but I haven't seen the sketch in many years, so I'm not sure, and it might've been a few years earlier and Phil Hartman as the dad instead...) takes a sleep aid called something like Hibernol or something where it just makes him hibernate through all of cold and flu season. I think about that A LOT
Lizbot (host) 5:13:15 PM
Hi Addie!! Hope you're having a cool yule!
Lizbot (host) 5:13:23 PM
THanks, Stevie P!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:14:53 PM
VERY cool. Just spent my Xmas $$ from the docs at work on fancy cheeses etc. For dinner!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:22 PM
@Addie - oOOOh! I hadn't bought cheese in a while and then went to a reception after the premiere of a new modern classical choral piece, Poor Hymnal, by David Lang and the cheeses were so good! Makes me wanna go buy some!
Carlos Ramone. 5:17:48 PM
@liz…I would often tell my family I would hibernate if I could, just to miss all the crap with the holidays..they could wake me for Jon S and then back to sleep..I said I would be like a bear and eat many pine cones and then hit the sack
Lizbot (host) 5:22:10 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Bearlike behaviors are good - I am 100% pro-hibernation, except 100% wanna do all the holiday stuff! Then I'm done for 2 1/2 to 3 months. I don't care about New Year's Eve or Valentine's or any holiday from Christmas through early spring
Lizbot (host) 5:23:04 PM
I need that period between Christmas and New Year's to digest the year and reflect, and just recover from all the busy holiday stuff, but after that, put me in suspended sleep. Except wake me for Doubleplusgoods!
Lizbot (host) 5:28:02 PM
I hope everyone is dancing around an open flame with a tambourine right now
Francis 5:35:32 PM
Her voice always reminds me of one of those Country singers from the 70's, like Wynette, or Crystal Gale - really nice quality to it, and soothhing
Francis 5:36:14 PM
Along with a touch of the Carpenters
Number 6 5:36:38 PM
@Lizbot- I could turn on the gas range for that!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:56 PM
@Francis - I think of Joni Mitchell / other "ladies of the canyon" early 70s L.A.
Lizbot (host) 5:37:29 PM
@Francis - And maybe a bit of Judee Sill and Catherine Howe
Lizbot (host) 5:37:46 PM
@Number 6 - oh no!
Number 6 5:38:25 PM
I am not afraid.
Lizbot (host) 5:39:03 PM
@Number 6 - I'm already wary of my gas range now that's becoming widespread information that our ranges have been poisoning us for years, evidently. cool, cool!
Number 6 5:40:04 PM
Is is what it is.
Carlos Ramone. 5:40:09 PM
@liz.. in younger days we had friends that would have parties to celebrate both solstice
Carlos Ramone. 5:40:33 PM
Summer was always well attended but winter got less and less with age
Lizbot (host) 5:41:45 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Were they looking for an excuse to through a party or some kind of pagans, or both? May as well have a party on the longest night of the year! And maybe a picnic on the longest day of the year?
Lizbot (host) 5:42:27 PM
@Number 6 - Is is? Is that the cousin of San Francisco's favorite frozen treat, the It's It?
Lizbot (host) 5:42:44 PM
@Number 6 - Or Isis. I blame Isis.
Number 6 5:43:06 PM
Ha! Maybe, or my fat fingers too.
Lizbot (host) 5:43:17 PM
@Number 6 - and by "Isis" I am referring to the goddess!
Number 6 5:43:40 PM
Never been to the ISS either.
Lizbot (host) 5:44:39 PM
@Number 6 - Maybe Isis lives on the ISS
Number 6 5:45:18 PM
Could be, although might be a bit crowded.
Carlos Ramone. 5:46:05 PM
@liz.. both involed some music..chants.
Lizbot (host) 5:46:14 PM
@Number 6 - ha!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:50 PM
@number 6 - Isis' animal friends are a kite and a hawk, so fitting she likes flying things like spaceships
Lizbot (host) 5:47:04 PM
@Carlos Ramone - ahhhhhhhhhh. I can picture it!
Lizbot (host) 5:47:21 PM
@Carlos Ramone - maybe some robes and tambourines as well?
Number 6 5:47:48 PM
I wonder how a bird would do in 0 gravity?
Arlene Machiavelli 5:50:44 PM
Merry solstice, Lizbot! So happy I can hear most of your show today-- I grew up in NJ and always would play wprb when visiting back home for the holidays, and your winter mixes have inspired me so much. I remember one very cold winter night, I was driving back home to my mom's house from my friend's house in New Hope PA and it was so icy and everything outside was frozen and you played Lene Lovich "the freeze" just as I coasted out onto the highway, over the bridge over the Delaware river...
Arlene Machiavelli 5:54:48 PM
Yes! The Freeze! <3
Lizbot (host) 5:55:00 PM
Hi Arlene Machiavelli! Merry Solstice! I'm happy to hear you've enjoyed my winter playlists over the years! This one's for you!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:03 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I have white-knuckled the steering wheel driving over icy roads in Jersey and PA many cold nights coming back from WPRB to Philly. These playlists are partially inspired by those drives
Lizbot (host) 5:56:58 PM
"This is the longest night of all!" I love Lene's solemn plodding beat here
Arlene Machiavelli 5:57:37 PM
Thank you!! I have driven those roads as well...there's ice, and deer! Video games got nothing on real life peril and reflexes haha
🎅ndy 5:58:00 PM
Heya. Happy solstice!
Arlene Machiavelli 5:58:16 PM
I made a winter solstice mix last year and started it with this song, inspired by that experience of you playing it as I drove onto the highway :)
Lizbot (host) 5:58:53 PM
Hey there, [San]TAndy!
Lizbot (host) 6:00:44 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - nice! I love hearing Lene! She actually did an in-store performance in Ardmore's Plastic Fantastic record store once!
Lizbot (host) 6:03:25 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - There is an absolutely bonkers music video of Lene Lovich and Nina Hagen singing their collaborative song "don't eat the animals" wherein they dance in the street with brightly colored fake fur and other more risqué accoutrements in the middle of a city alley at night. I think they must've shot it at 4 in the morning of ppl would've gawked! It was definitely low budget!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:04:22 PM
oh, that is so cool-- I will look up that video!
Lizbot (host) 6:05:23 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - It's a trip!
Lizbot (host) 6:07:18 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I think Lene always projected an air of gothness and mysteriousness that rivaled Nina Hagan's and she somewhat sounded a bit like Nina, hence a lot of people thought she was from Germany or somewhere in Europe, but she was from Detroit!

Lizbot (host) 6:11:08 PM
Greetings, Dá Bəng Gôu! Yes, this playlist is just as much for the animals to listen to while keeping warm on a long winter night. I know my dog, (who got attacked by a crazy loose boxer yesterday on her walk!) is listening in
Dá Bəng Gôu 6:11:49 PM
All dogs listen.
Dá Bəng Gôu 6:12:13 PM
Cats too.
Lizbot (host) 6:12:47 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - All dogs go to 711 (and steal day-old hot-dogs).
Arlene Machiavelli 6:13:11 PM
oh no, I hope your dog is ok! scary!
Lizbot (host) 6:13:38 PM
Dá Bəng Gôu - My dog is a Wawa dog so she chomps shorty hoagies
Lizbot (host) 6:15:11 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Surprisingly mostly fine, mainly shaken. That boxer got loose from its owner and just was determined to go after my dog. My husband fought it off, and both dogs are okay now, but my dog, Nuala, was whining a lot and upset yesterday. No broken skin. She is 9 years old and this other dog looked a lot younger
Krista KristaKrista 6:17:29 PM
Love listening as we wait for our pizza
Lizbot (host) 6:18:43 PM
Hi Krista!! I'm glad you and yours are tuning in! I hope you're all warm and cozy and doing well tonight. Thinking of the baby!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:20:01 PM
I watched the video of Lene Lovich and Nina Hagan and it was glorious and gave me costume ideas LOL been a vegetarian since i was 14 and now that I am old I have begrudgingly eaten chicken a few times because my body was adamant about it haha. Great music for the solstice, thank you, the sun has not set yet here in Oceanside CA
Lizbot (host) 6:24:31 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - haha, yeah it is a memorable one! I first saw that video 20 years ago and the song and images have lived in my brain ever since and always make me smile! I was vegetarian from age 15 'til age 35, and vegan 10 of those 20 years, but I too had to eventually turn to chicken! My allergies changed and I developed allergies to some of the main sources of protein I had relied on for decades, like soy and many kinds of pea and beans. But hey, every bit helps!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:25:02 PM
So glad your dog is ok. My grandpop was the guy who took the "bad dogs" that would have been put to sleep and tamed them enough but we kids, visiting grandpop in VA, were not allowed to touch those dogs or go anywhere near them.
Lizbot (host) 6:25:15 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I used to eat so much TVP mock ham and bean curd skin knots (such a gross name, but so good!) and now I can't touch that stuff!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:26:34 PM
yeah, it is always awesome like 'you have a thyroid disorder and shouldn't eat soy' in the 90s as a vegetarian?! hahaha
Lizbot (host) 6:26:36 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - yeah, my mom and her dad took in a lot of dogs with histories and traumas who couldn't handle sudden movements. My mom always won them over and they were so devoted to her!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:28:33 PM
my grandpop was the dog whisperer, they would just settle if he came in and told them to sit down. otherwise they were unmanageable. Sadie bit my lip when I was 2 so Sadie went to grandpop haha

Lizbot (host) 6:29:22 PM
Hello Ossy! A long dark space lady evening it is!
Ossy 6:29:47 PM
I see Sufjan Stevens here, which I remember a lovely Xmas song "Winter Solstice"!
stevie p 6:29:49 PM
yo Os
Ossy 6:30:11 PM
Yes, a lovely unsmelly space xmas eve eve night
Ossy 6:30:21 PM
Hey Steve
Lizbot (host) 6:31:18 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - oh no! yeah, some of my mom's dogs were scared of everyone but here, so they weren't around kids much. My mom was only bitten once, and it was by a crazy neighbor's dog. The lady was paranoid and used to stare out her window at everyone passing by all day. Her two Dalmatians were extremely high strung
Lizbot (host) 6:33:22 PM
@Ossy - I'm glad it is unseemly!
stevie p 6:33:36 PM
this tune sounds like a higher-pitch version of the eyes wide shut secret ceremony tune
Lizbot (host) 6:33:39 PM
@Ossy - haha, autocorrect! I'm glad it is unsmelly!
stevie p 6:33:59 PM

DatSantaMadness 6:34:49 PM
omg Stevie I could hear it! I love Catherine Ribeiro's voice
stevie p 6:34:51 PM
yo DSM
Lizbot (host) 6:35:10 PM
@Stevie P - huh, I have to re-listen to that soundtrack. the gooey bass line in this song always reminds me of when you pause Mario Brothers 2 on an original NES console during an underground level, the theme that plays is the underground level theme, but only the lower end bass notes, and it sounds like this!
stevie p 6:35:30 PM
it's unsmelly, as Os would say
Lizbot (host) 6:35:37 PM
Greetings, DatSantaMadness!
Lizbot (host) 6:35:58 PM
@DatSantaMadness - Ribeiro should be 500x more famous!
stevie p 6:36:36 PM
speaking of Mario Bros, i've been loving Jump Up Superstar from Mario Oddesy as done by 8-bit Big Band, featuring Grace Kelly on vocals and sas
stevie p 6:36:40 PM
DatSantaMadness 6:36:50 PM
I agree! I was gonna say she is so underrated, but I'm actually not aware of how rated she is tbh.
DatSantaMadness 6:37:54 PM
Mario 2 is underrated tho, I love that one
Ossy 6:38:29 PM
Stevie - Last month on that Talltrees show, which I did a random tune in. He did a video game music show, and he played Pauline's Jump Up Star
Lizbot (host) 6:39:40 PM
@Stevie P - Oh wow, I need to check that out! I love a good video game soundtrack!
Ossy 6:39:46 PM
And yeah that song is that party uplifting festive. First randomly heard it on a long play youtube as background noise and was shocked to hear a notable Mario character sing in full lyrics for the first time
Rob from Maryland 6:40:25 PM
@Lizbot, this show is wonderful! I withdraw my request for the Fastbacks.
Ossy 6:40:40 PM
DSM - SMB2 is pretty good like 3 and world. Also the Mario Land series which introduces Daisy and Wario
Lizbot (host) 6:41:47 PM
@DatSantaMadness - Her wiki was only in French for so long! She is wildly-underknown, especially in the U.S. Incredible singer and composer/bandleader, with a proggy bent in many of her songs
Lizbot (host) 6:42:07 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Thanks! haha, yeah, that'd be a different vibe I think!

Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:43:34 PM
I just ate an inordinate amount of cheese while listening to this stellar show!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:47 PM
@DatSantaMadness - mario 2 and Marble Madness were my favorite games growing up, but especially Super Mario 2! It was so different (I know it was originally a different game and not part of the Mario franchise). It was so inventive and challenging and a huge upgrade in graphics and music
stevie p 6:43:52 PM
Os, that's where I first heard Jump Up Superstar!
Ossy 6:44:08 PM
Imagine someone else like Janelle Monae singing Jump Up Superstar ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Lizbot (host) 6:44:14 PM
@Addie - haha, as it should be!
DatSantaMadness 6:44:46 PM
Ossy, agree those are my faves
DatSantaMadness 6:46:26 PM
And yes Lizbot Marble Madness was sooo good! I could get to the last level but never beat it. Mario 2 felt so imaginative and immersive, such an outlier in the series but like you mentioned I guess cuz it's a different game really.
Ossy 6:47:11 PM
Funny was watching a Christmas special of the 90s Mario cartoon show, which has Yoshi in it
DatSantaMadness 6:47:22 PM
Addie, that sounds great! (cheese feasting)
Lizbot (host) 6:47:33 PM
@Ossy - Oh wow! I gotta check out Pauline's Jump Up Star! I never owned Super Mario 3 because it came out right before my rabbit, Hazel (named after Watership Down), chewed through my NES cord and my parents refused to buy another. Thus ended my console gaming days until Katamari Damacy came out decades later and I bought myself a PS2!
Lizbot (host) 6:48:04 PM
@Ossy - I have a budgie named after Yoshi!
Ossy 6:48:06 PM
Almost confused Marble Madness with Marble Zone stage in Sonic 1
DatSantaMadness 6:49:15 PM
There was a game for Wii called Mercury Meltdown that seemed Marble Madness-esque that I always wanted to play but never got the chance
Ossy 6:50:12 PM
Liz - That's mean of your rabbit destroying your NES and do listen to Pauline's song, it rocks especially fitting for New Years Day! Even get Odyssey game moreover if sparks interest!
stevie p 6:50:31 PM
I might have to crack out the kid's Wii soon. My Mii looks exactly like me.
stevie p 6:51:18 PM
how brilliant is the Wii? Graphics, music, games...
DatSantaMadness 6:52:19 PM
Stevie I still have mine setup, I still love a round of golf on Wii sports on a weekend morning with a cup of coffee. So soothing. They canceled Wii way too soon
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:56:23 PM

Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:57:39 PM
@DatSantaMadness it was incredible. The standout was a soft-ish sheep’s milk cheese on some mild cheddar crackers.
Lizbot (host) 6:58:21 PM
@Addie - YES! As my friend's dad of few words once uttered after of a long day of working with him in silence upon hearing Tull on the radio: "...........mmm, FLUTE"
DatSantaMadness 6:58:37 PM

In a few minutes the holiday light parade is about to go by my house, too. Festive!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:42 PM
@Stevie P - I had one friend who had a Wii and I played the weirdest game at her house called something like "Muscle March," that featured a series of muscley shirtless men...and one bear...running in a line through different shaped doorways! At least I THINK it was on the Wii! They had a few different consoles and a lot of weird games!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:46 PM
@Addie - oooh! Is that specifically planned for the solstice?? So cool! I wish we had something like that here tonight! We have the Parade of Spirits on Krampusnacht at Liberty Lands Park at least!

Wishing all ::DoublePlusGood:: listeners a happy Festivus! I’ve gotta lotta problems with you people!
Lizbot (host) 7:04:58 PM
@Ossy - Oh wow! It's Sparks-esque! I gotta make a list of video game music I need to check out! So many great soundtracks!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:23 PM
@Ossy - I had no idea there was a Mario Christmas special but that figures!
DatSantaMadness 7:05:46 PM
lol Wes. Happy Festivus!
Wes Steenson 7:06:07 PM
Also - Rope Ladder To The Moon! By one of my two favorite bass players named Jack - the other being Casady.
Lizbot (host) 7:06:22 PM
Greetings, Wes Steenson! Happy Festivus! I guess we're "the rest of us!" And I hope you are enjoying festive Yule!
Lizbot (host) 7:06:51 PM
@Wes Steenson - LOVE that song! The early Jack Bruce solo albums are so good
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:08:16 PM
@wes let’s move on to the feats of strength!
Wes Steenson 7:09:05 PM
@DatSantaMadness Festivus officially starts this Saturday. Hope your Feats of Strength impress everyone and that they can withstand your Airing of Grievances.
Wes Steenson 7:10:56 PM
@Addie🐍🐍Plum Don’t forget to warm up first! 💪
Lizbot (host) 7:11:42 PM
@Wes Steenson / Addie - May your feats of strength make your fellow revelers reconsider disputing your Airing of Grievances
Lizbot (host) 7:12:08 PM
@Addie - I want a blow-by-blow of that light parade! Seems very Vermont for some reason
Wes Steenson 7:13:48 PM
@Lizbot - Did you know that an instrumental version of Rope Ladder To The Moon was used for an oil company television commercial?
Lizbot (host) 7:17:18 PM
@Wes Steenson - waaaat?!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:17:23 PM
@lizbot it is very Vermont! In lots of towns they have them and they light up things like tractors and cement mixers and jeeps and buses.
stevie p 7:17:32 PM
@Lizbot -- I only recall playing Wii Ski and Wii Skate on Wii. I tried Wii Fitness, but it was too hard. ;-)
stevie p 7:17:41 PM
Wii Fit
Lizbot (host) 7:17:42 PM
@Wes Steenson - WHY/how? Someone at that ad company was a Jack Bruce fan!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:33 PM
@Addie - haha, I want an illuminated tractor rolling down Market Street right now! At least Philly has the holiday trolley!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:18:58 PM
@lizbot I messaged you a pic!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:19:12 PM
I do miss the jolly trolley!!
Lizbot (host) 7:19:13 PM
@Stevie P - I remember those freaky Wii avatars! I made one on my friend's Wii for myself and tried Wii fitness but it just devolved into a drunken hang
Lizbot (host) 7:20:22 PM
@Addie - Nice glow-bus! I'm jealous! Would look even cooler in the snow!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:20:45 PM
I know 😭😭😭 I wish the snow would arrive.
Ossy 7:23:33 PM
Liz- They got two so far of Mario https://www.google.com/search?q=mario+christmas+episode&oq=mario+christmas+episode+&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDY5OTRqMGo3qAIAsAIA&client=ms-android-tmus-us-revc&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
Ossy 7:24:16 PM
Addie- Love cheese, minus the infamous smelly bleu cheese
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:25:48 PM
Oh Ossy, the stinky cheese is the best cheese!
Lizbot (host) 7:25:51 PM
@Addie - It's crazy you guys don't have any yet. I admit I'm not looking forward to driving in snow or ice here, since I've had some scary car slides in the past, but it's hard to picture Vermont without it in December!
Lizbot (host) 7:26:31 PM
@Ossy - oh wow! I gotta do a deep dive of Christmas specials I've missed!
stevie p 7:26:41 PM
i keep checking the forecast for snow. not a lot, just enough to make the christmas lights look really dreamy
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:26:53 PM
Climate change is real in Vermont. Sad times for sure.
Lizbot (host) 7:29:11 PM
@Addie - Ughhhh. We've had some freezing temps, but the temperature always goes back up when we have precipitation. Would've been a big snowstorm last weekend had it been under freezing temps. Inside Kelly Drive flooded/
Arlene Machiavelli 7:29:16 PM
oh, how I love this PJ song!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:27 PM
@Stevie P - Well at least there's that!
Lizbot (host) 7:30:45 PM
@Addie / Ossy - Stinky cheese is so good, but when I get it for parties I'm always scared about leaving it out at room temp for very long! Used to have an annual holiday party (ended with the Covid era) and the camembert and bleu and brie was out for too many hours! got distracted and didn't put it back in fridge!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:43 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Is This Desire? and To Bring You My Love before are perfection. Is This Desire? has such a deep dark winter mood
Lizbot (host) 7:32:06 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - She is finally touring again and has UK dates. I am hoping she adds the US
Ossy 7:32:36 PM
Addie - Yeah, stinky lovely! 💛💛💛💛💛
Lizbot (host) 7:33:00 PM
@Ossy - Makes my mouth water! Gotta get some dins after this show1
stevie p 7:33:49 PM
when it comes to the King o' Stinky Cheese, Limburger, you don't want to know the source of stinky
Arlene Machiavelli 7:34:09 PM
I am a huge fan of her music, sometimes I just need to play Rid of Me and sing along and scream, sometimes I want the moody dark white chalk, used to play 'uh huh her' on my long drives when i lived in asheville and bartended at the lake lure inn (where they filmed much of the film dirty dancing)....those beautiful scenic roads made for great listening to music time
Wes Steenson 7:35:02 PM
@Lizbot - re the oil company ad - my recollection is that it wasn’t directed at consumers, but a corporate ad. I remember them from watching shows like CBS Sunday Morning. Ads more for corporations to their stockholders. Anyway it was years ago. But the melody of that song is quite memorable.
Lizbot (host) 7:35:11 PM
@Stevie P - yikes...I truly don't wanna! I am still recovering from learning about the fig wasp years ago!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:36:05 PM
I also prefer my cheese funk to remain shrouded in mystery.
George Korein 7:36:34 PM
This is nice
Wes Steenson 7:36:39 PM
@Lizbot my other big favorite Jack Bruce composition is Song For An Imaginary Western.
Lizbot (host) 7:37:09 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Yes! She fulfills so many different moods! I love Rid of Me and I love singing along to Kamikaze too! "The Desperate Kingdom of Love" from Uh Huh Her is achingly gorgeous!
Lizbot (host) 7:37:19 PM
@George Korein - Glad you're digging it
Lizbot (host) 7:37:55 PM
@Addie - A shroud of cheese funk is a way to ward off evil spirits
Wes Steenson 7:39:24 PM
@Addie🐍🐍Plum - coming soon to PBS Masterpiece Mysteries- The Mystery of the Cheese Funk. 🧀
stevie p 7:39:36 PM
monks' bare feet used in the original recipe... the secret of limburger cheese unique flavor, with cultures that persist to this day
Lizbot (host) 7:39:59 PM
@Wes Steenson - That's like the industrial ads Jay Schwartz of Secret Cinema collects. Reminds of me in 30 Rock the elusive commercial no one knows what is for: "China. Wind Power. Synergy."
Arlene Machiavelli 7:41:53 PM
I sing the desperate kingdom of love in the shower all the time because it is so easy to do a capella
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:41:55 PM
Now that’s some real toe cheese, @stevie p
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:42:08 PM
@wes hahahaha
Lizbot (host) 7:43:57 PM
@Wes Steenson - The Mystery of P. Funk, Brought to you by the makes of Stinky Cheese (TM)
stevie p 7:44:18 PM
we jokingly called it stinky feet cheese when we were kids. it really is stinky feet cheese
Roffle 7:44:30 PM
Nice doin's here Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:45:04 PM
@Stevie P - ughhh, that's maybe what the song "Slender Fungus" by Tones On Tail is about! Yuck
Joe Moore 7:46:05 PM
Rad show as ever Lizbot! Happy holidays to you and yours!
Lizbot (host) 7:46:26 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - It's gorgeous and Uh Huh Her came out at a trying time so I remember listening to it over and over and feeling better
Lizbot (host) 7:46:39 PM
Hi Joe Moore! Thank you! Happy Holidays to you!
stevie p 7:46:54 PM
this show has been so perfect for this first night of winter. thanks Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:47:11 PM
Hi Roffle! Thanks for listening! Have a great Solstice/Yule/Holiday!
stevie p 7:47:34 PM
hey, let's put the Saturn back in Happy Saturnalia
stevie p 7:47:50 PM
i've had enough of the War on Saturnalia
Lizbot (host) 7:48:55 PM
@stevie P - but then is wine that was made with grapes crushed by bare feet "stinky foot wine"? My granddad built a little arbor in his yard and grew grapes with moderate success for a couple of years, and he thought it was charming to crush them under his feet!
stevie p 7:49:39 PM
Liz, at least the wine has alcohol, and acids to kill the stinky feet germs and fungi
stevie p 7:49:51 PM
soft cheese... not so much
Lizbot (host) 7:50:14 PM
@stevie p - ha! Yeah, I need to play Gustav Holst's "Saturn: The Bringer of Old Age" from "The Planets" to honor Saturnalia. Then crush some grapes with my feet
stevie p 7:50:44 PM
you sound like a reall attractive gal hehe
Lizbot (host) 7:50:56 PM
@stevie p - true! Good old booze can withstand anything! Wine is fickle, but my liquor cabinet is forever!
stevie p 7:51:34 PM
liquor cabinet... my late mother in law's liquor cabinet had bottles with price tags from the 1960s.
Ossy 7:51:54 PM
Liz - Need Mac and cheese tonight with so much stinky garlic and onions, for someone to have unclean breath lool
stevie p 7:52:10 PM
we didn't let a drop go to waste
stevie p 7:52:34 PM
Os, make some limburger mac n cheese
Ossy 7:52:35 PM
And yeah for toe cheese
DatSantaMadness 7:52:37 PM
those stereo panning drums were outta sight!!
Roffle 7:53:04 PM
Thanks Lizbot! Really nice show. Thanks! See ya on the other side of this sun bop after 10:27 p.m. Eastern Time Lunar New Year commin' up. lol
Wes Steenson 7:53:27 PM
@Lizbot Have you ever seen the movie Michael Clayton? That movie has a near perfect sendup of one of those corporate “we make things but you can’t tell from our ad what we make” ads. Also The Informant has one as well. 🎞️
Arlene Machiavelli 7:53:39 PM
Lovely journey of music for the winter solstice! Thanks, Lizbot, merry solstice to you and yours <3

Thank you so much for the beautiful show tonight, Lizbot 💙💙💙💙💙

epic show Lizbot. thank you!
sean burns 7:56:34 PM
Great atmospheric show honoring the night... It may be the shortest day of the year but there is magic in the longest night
Wes Steenson 7:57:20 PM
Good night all! As a slightly Seasonal Affective Disorder person I’ve been kind of out of sorts for the past few days, but looking forward to more hours of sunshine starting soon! Take care and happy holidays, everyone!

Lizbot (host) 7:58:34 PM
Thanks Ossy! Happy Cheesemas to you!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:07 PM
@Roffle - Marvin's marathons are great! I always am writing down so much new modern classical to listen to again later when listening to them!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:44 PM
@Wes Steenson - oho! I hope you feel better soon! Take care and know spring isn't too far off!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:53 PM
