@Number 6 - This is definitely going to be a more hyper show than Tuesday's, and I have some movie recommendations as well. The new Miyazaki - The Boy & The Heron - has a good deal of animal snorting!

The rare bird in Ocean County that I mentioned last week, the Red-flanked Bluetail, was last seen early Sunday morning, just before the rain started. I'm glad I didn't decide to try for it on Tuesday or Monday

@Rob from Maryland - No animal snorts, even? The local foxes that live down by the SEPTA train station near me have been out and about hunting earlier in the evening, what with the early sunset. They haven't been as vocal as they generally are in late winter /early spring when they scream their vixen call all night, but they're getting bold

@Lizbot, nope. No foxes have been in our neighborhood recently. I still remember the time one woke me up at 3 or 4 in the morning, screaming just outside the house.

@Parrscream - My 9th grader just performed in her first high school winter concert last night. She left choir to do dance instead, and her dance troupe performed with the band and orchestra...Thriller...of all songs! An off but fun choice for a winter concert!

It was great! The trip had drama (ER vistis, First Aid Station visits, bee stings), injuries (my dad's back, my leg) and lots of kids enjoyment and crazienss!!!

Nope. None on rides. My dad tweaked his back a couple weeks prior to the trip and he was the one who went to the ER. He was wheeled out of the room on a stretcher. :-D

I blew out my hamstring a couple years ago and have never been the same since. When I do a ton of walking it always bothers me. It was really aggrivated while we were there.

And my mom got stung by a bee in the hot tub on our resort day... one of three people to get stung in that hot tub that day, ha ha!

@Rob from Maryland - The foxes in my neighborhood are BOLD, owing in no small part to the fact that a neighbor feeds them, and now this one fox and his mate and kits have decided the train station at the corner of my block is THEIR turf and they don't back down to dogs or anyone. To quote Kathleen Hanna: "That [fox] thinks it's the queen of the neighborhood. I have news for you: It IS!"

We are all smiles and laughs about it. Our family always brings the drama... especially when there is 10 of us.

@Parrscream - Oh god, yeah, I have an old knee injury that REALLY acts up when I do a ton of walking. I was very worried about it when we took my daughter there when she was 7 and I took an inflammatory my doctor prescribed right before the trip - Unfortunately, I had not taken that RX before and had a bad reaction to it and was so sick the whole trip!

@Parrscream - She IS enjoying dance. I was very surprised to discover it's a graded class, not pass/fail! They meet several times a week. She wanted to take Drawing but that class filled up too fast, and Dance has worked out well

Now it is my tuen to say "YIKES" - Nothing worse than being sick on vacation!

@Rob from Maryland - I love to sing Bikini Kill to the local foxes...and also to my dog, who strongly believes SHE is Queen of the Neighborhood and gets very incensed at the foxes

That's so cool. I wish we had a dance class when I was a kid. Glad she is enjoying it. We're trying to find a club that our 9th grader can get involved with since we paid a ton of money for the "Club Fee" that his school charges. Although he made Honor Roll for the first time ever for the first marking period of high school so we can't be too disappointed.

@Parrscream - Yeah, I just kinda powered through it and still had a fun trip overall, but I was so nauseous the entire time. I covered a LOT of ground, at least! Our only mishap was being on The Carousel of Progress while it broke down and stalled for about 20 minutes, which was very funny - The automaton family robots in the "present day" [1980s] scene kept resetting and then repeating all their lines! It could have been a drinking game.

@Parrscream - There was only one other person in the ride with us and all of us were cracking up!

WOW! We love Carousel of Progress and would have loved to be "stuck" in that situation. We were stuck on the Little Mermaid ride this trip and Sebastian Kept repeating that the ride was paused and that the ride was resuming over and over. It was great. I took a video.

@Parrscream - Sorry about your dad's back! Back pain is the woooooorst and always seems so mysterious to me! My lower back has been acting up recently and I don't recall anything significant that might've triggered it. back pain is just like that - could just be grabbing a dish or turning slightly and suddenly in abject pain!

That's exactly what happened to my dad. he was picking up socks off the floor and tweaked it. Although he has had a bad back for a long time. He had surgery on his back in 1991.

@Parrscream - Re: your mom's bee sting - That strikes fear in my heart because I'm allergic to bees! I was in a hotel in Costa Rica that was completely open-air in the middle of the rain forest in the Osa Peninsula and there was a hive of Apoica wasps RIGHT OVER the shower/tub combo! I didnt see until I was in the shower and it was a weird treacherous pit-shower you have to climb slippery tiles steps to escape! Thnkfully didn't get stung!

Holy moly! that is scary as all h*ll! Yes, thankfully you did not get stung! This was the second Disney trip that my mom got stung on. Last time it was on her neck while we were in EPCOT. This time it was on her back at the hotel. To DIsney's credit they called her the next day to see how she was feeling.

@Parrscream - I looked those wasps up based on their crazy opaque bright yellow long banana-shaped bodies, found their name and that their sting is VERY high on the Schmidt Pain Index!

@Parrscream - Geez. I guess I'll lucky I never got stung there! To be fair, I've only been there once in the last 25 years! Bees seem to love your mom! Is she wearing bright floral clothing or carrying anything sweet/wearing a floral perfume? I'll never forget when I borrowed my mom's floral blouse as a kid and the bees 100% were attracted to it and started landing on me!

You know what...? Never noticed or even thought to tie what she was wearing to the bee stings... We told her that it is now a tradition for her to get stung every time we go. :-D

@Parrscream - I am always looking at every angle to avoid getting stung! The last time was many years ago - when my daughter was about 4 - at Linvilla Orchard in Delaware County. There were bees EVERYWHERE and we were in line for a little kiddie train she really wanted to ride - Unfortunately the line slowly crawled past a trashcan TEEMING with discarded apple cider slushie cups swarmed by dozens of very aggressive bees!

@Brian D - mmm, sweet potato pies of Philadelphia! One of my favorite local treats! The Ex knows what's up! I brought one of those to an NYC THanksgiving one year and everyone there, all-non-philadelphians, was confused because they could not accept it was not pumpkin pie.

@Carlos Ramone / Brian D - My all-time favorite sweet potato pie was from [the lomg defunct] Basic 4 restaurant in The Reading Terminal. WHen my daughter was born and I was laid up in Pennsylvania Hospital in Center City not far from the RT, I send a family member to get me one and it was the first non-hospital food I'd eaten in days and was like manna from heaven!

Aha... right down the road. We got a Tgving turkey from Bolton's years back. That whole stretch of 113 has some great farms. Good CSA at Blooming Glen Farm. And Tussock Sedge Farm has tons of great stuff in the animal varieties. Perkasie Farmer's Mkt great stuff too (Chef Emeril here has played there!). We haven't been to Bolton's in a while gotta go back.

And up further near Lake "Nox" our fave pig product (and others) farm Purely Farm. So good. Love this area for home spun family farms. Love supporting them. Easy pickup too.

Made it to the Upper Peninsula and that lake was Too Damn Cold in August. No one those mid-westerners don't swim! Everyone was just grilling on its shores

I love the story about Pete hearing The [English] Beat's "Save It for Later" for the first time and loving it so much, he immediately had an assistant find the contact info for David Wakeling and called him up, and Wakeling could not believe it and hung up because he assumed he was being pranked. @Andy Wing - haha, yeah I think Tatsuya Yoshida of Ruins would take that as a high compliment! I have seen him live many times, including twice for that Ruins Alone album (which is just him on drums and vocals with his prerecorded synth). Normally, in regular Ruins line-ups, its him on drums and vocals but accompanied by a bassist - equally wild stuff in both iterations! I love the mania of it
