Trevor Burton (from The Move) to the left, and Denny Laine on the right. Brum rock at its best ("Brum"=Birmingham).

Denny Laine played bass. Guitarist Steve Gibbons, from the Uglys, and the Uglys' drummer

Well hey there! Recherché on da AIR!!!
Roffle 5:39:45 PM
Hi Readie! So Denny Laine is out too? I sure hope they are all setting up a party for us over there in the over there. :)
Readie Righteous (host) 5:40:54 PM
Hey Roffle- yes, Denny has left us...it's that time when our heroes are aging - more quickly than we are, it seems....
Readie Righteous (host) 5:42:21 PM
in the "over there"...I like that....
Roffle 5:42:31 PM
I guess we are all RSVP'ed, but geez! Slow down Mr Conductor!
Roffle 5:43:51 PM
I'd like to speak with management concerning my resevation.
Readie Righteous (host) 5:43:56 PM
I hear you, the best thing is to do like George Harrison said...."BE HERE NOW" but really here, here with every fibre of our being....fully conscious....
Readie Righteous (host) 5:44:31 PM
HaHa...grim reaper pass me by...
Roffle 5:45:07 PM
I am in the Ram Das camp on that I think. The only dance there is stuff. :)
Readie Righteous (host) 5:46:31 PM
The Ram Das docu is pretty good
Roffle 5:50:50 PM
Oh, gotta check that out. I am just familiar with him from lots of weird stuff from when I was a kid. I had a thing for stuff like the The Tibetan Book of the Dead produced by Wientz with the forward by Yung got to me.
Roffle 5:51:37 PM
And of course Yogananda
Pete Trenham 5:56:38 PM
Great stuff. Thanks Readie
Readie Righteous (host) 6:04:12 PM
Hi Pete! Glad you are enjoying it!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:05:14 PM
@Roffle-the Autobiography of Paramahansa Yogananda is superb...Harrison used to give the book to his guests...
Roffle 6:07:05 PM
I think Jon Anderson did an album about it too. A friend of mine told me that back in the day, but that fits too.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:08:31 PM
Jon Anderson too? I didn't realize that
Roffle 6:10:30 PM
Now to show my child of the 70's cred, I an a big fan of Castanada, and I was friends with a Franciscan Priest who knew him from Sherman Oaks, CA. I drove to San Antonio, TX with him and he had me stay in a room at the rectory. Surreal.
Rob from Maryland 6:11:05 PM
Good evening Readie et al. We just tuned in, are loving this C.C. Hennix piece.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:12:17 PM
Hi Rob- nice to see you- glad you are liking the C.C. piece- this is one of my favorites of hers.
Roffle 6:13:33 PM
Percussion and math is a beautiful thing. :)
Readie Righteous (host) 6:15:11 PM
@Roffle- Carlos Castaneda was my go-to read back in the day - Yaqui Way of Knowledge- and an old friend of Recherché and WPRB, who has sadly passed on- was friends with a Jesuit priest who introduced him to Exuma - the Obeah man. Some pretty fine spirituality out there...
Readie Righteous (host) 6:15:57 PM
I like that C.C was into mainframes - those behemoths with the punch cards
Readie Righteous (host) 6:16:23 PM
let this wash over you....
Roffle 6:16:41 PM
He taught at UCLA too.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:17:55 PM
Roffle- that must have been an adventure...staying at the rectory- that's cool
Roffle 6:17:57 PM
Punch card T-shirt is officially on my Christmas list to Santa now. lol
Readie Righteous (host) 6:19:23 PM
You can see C.C.'s punch card art here: https://www.stedelijk.nl/en/exhibitions/catherine-christer-hennix
Readie Righteous (host) 6:19:43 PM
She added a bit of colour!
Roffle 6:21:13 PM
Yea, it was a funny ride. When they asked him to open the trunk at a border check and the patrol guard saw his frock, I could have died! The Border guard was very catholic. It was insanly funny how fast a priest can take charge. lol
Roffle 6:23:40 PM
Algebraic Aesthetics! Oh like that. Thanks Readie!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:23:52 PM
I'll bet there was some surreal conversation as well, eh? And the power of the frock is undeniable
Readie Righteous (host) 6:24:10 PM
You bet!
Roffle 6:25:34 PM
Sitting around with a bunch of priests that smoke and drink and tell the filthiest jokes you can imagine. Oh yea!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:26:21 PM
Yeah, the Jesuits are a barrel of laughs as well- the "intellectual" orders are the best...
Roffle 6:27:40 PM
On the ride though, we did have a profound talk. Yea, I agree they are the smartest of Catholics for sure. And Catholics a big on education.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:27:47 PM
I think this piece would go well with the planetarium event Alan is doing at the Institute tonight!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:29:34 PM
Yeah, I was taught through primary school by the IHM nuns, and they taught me number theory in 8th grade- which is knowledge I used to pass the IBM tst to get a job operating mainframe computers back in the day...the holy orders had a lot of good points...
Roffle 6:30:42 PM
There is an occultation of Beetlejuice tonight. That makes sense! I was wondering where Alan was tonight.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:33:46 PM
Yes, I remember he mentioned it was dependent on the weather and I guess it's working out!
Roffle 6:33:49 PM
I did have to attend Catholic school, but my family is all over the place on religion. The nuns are weird, but they do educate.
Roffle 6:35:42 PM
I hope so Readie. Alan is very enthusiastic. I love his input. I hope the sky puts on a show and a half!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:35:43 PM
Some nuns we had were awful, but a llot of them beloved. Just like any group of course. And the habits they wore back in the day- hardly an inch of skin would show! How they could bear to wear that get-up in the summer- I'll never know.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:36:02 PM
@Roffle- me too!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:36:33 PM
It's odd- but if I weren't here...it would be fun to go toone of those events- lol
TAndy 6:37:27 PM
Well now this is a pleasant surprise. Ready to just lay back in bed and dream listening to this 😌
Roffle 6:37:35 PM
You could not see them under all os that, but you could sure smell them chewing gum to cover up the cigarettes. lol
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:37:55 PM
@ Readie Righteous (host) I'm so sorry you have to be doing all these tributes to recently passed rock and experimental music pioneers ... but I'm so glad you are. Thank you.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:38:25 PM
@TAndy- mornin' glory! just dream away!
Jeffry Langan 6:38:26 PM
Greetings! Home from our adventures. Plus got our tree and put it up. Now ‘fully here’ enjoying an Old Fashion. All the nun and frock talk got me reminiscing about Fr. Dan!
Roffle 6:39:14 PM
Hey Richard, Yea, lots of folk in the bardo this year for sure.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:39:49 PM
@Richard- nice to see you! Thanks so much, and you are welcome! Yes, we are losing some greats- but we have their music - so they live on!
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:40:46 PM
@ Roffle Yes
Readie Righteous (host) 6:40:52 PM
@Jeffry- oh of course - I spaced and forgot I have an uncle who was a priest! WOw- he was special!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:41:32 PM
Thanks for the reminder- Father Dan!! RIP
Jeffry Langan 6:42:05 PM
That he was!
Roffle 6:45:54 PM
I like the picture in the former St Sophia's in Istanbul, not Constantinople.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:55:17 PM
@Jeffry- my brother Jim does an impersonation of Fr. Dan and his prayer mantra..."spssn jheiihndkossspppejjndbj" in dulcet tones with gestures......I'm sure he's done it for you....lolol
Jeffry Langan 6:59:03 PM
He did. At the wedding. Hilarious!
Roffle 7:01:00 PM
Mathematicians know ♾️, so they make long ass songs. :)
Readie Righteous (host) 7:01:23 PM
Yes, that was a great wedding - great seeing everyone!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:02:45 PM
Yes, Roffle, C.C. envisioned her works as "endless"!
Roffle 7:03:44 PM
That sounds rather Father Guido Sarducci level stuff. lol
Readie Righteous (host) 7:04:41 PM
@Roffle- yes Father Dan was a character!
Roffle 7:05:36 PM
People are the best!
Roffle 7:06:06 PM
I love pretty trees, but people crack me up.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:06:59 PM
people who need people are the luckiest people, in the world...name that tune lol
Roffle 7:07:38 PM
Right on!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:25:35 PM
I used to work with people who would be saying they can't stand people, wanted to move out to the country so they could be alone with just their families...presumably they didn't mind the couple of colleagues they confessed this to...but hey, who knows?!
Roffle 7:44:24 PM
I can definitely due without peoples crazy issues, but my friends make it right. I wear headphones in public for a reason for sure. Just so I can say, I didn't hear you when it counts.
Roffle 7:45:43 PM
It's an idiot fest out there.
Roffle 7:46:31 PM
I don't even have the volume up. I just wear the headset. lol
Readie Righteous (host) 7:46:36 PM
@Roffle- indeed
Readie Righteous (host) 7:47:29 PM
This song, somewhat appropos- let's go live in the mountains
Roffle 7:50:13 PM
Alan White! Nice. I saw him and Bruford in Philly with Yes a while back.
Rob from Maryland 7:52:03 PM
Readie, we've enjoyed the last 1 hr 45 min, both C C Hennix and Denny Laine.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:53:02 PM
Cool, Roffle! Saw Yes so long ago....YES!
TAndy 7:53:20 PM
Thanks so much for the show, Readie!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:53:24 PM
Thanks for listenin', Rob! Glad you liked it!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:53:29 PM
Thanks TAndy!@
Readie Righteous (host) 7:53:35 PM
!
Roffle 7:57:22 PM
Thanks for the always good vibes Readie! Punched my card.
Jeffry Langan 7:57:45 PM
Enjoy your weekend and be safe yourself! See you next Friday!
