Hi Rob from Maryland! Nice! I was driving through the sunset here, and couldn't watch it much, but I saw the gorgeous sunrise this morning in Philly and took a [somewhat crummy] photo of it through my window with the screen and glass obscuring it because it was too early in the morning/cold to step outside yet!

@ Rob- I am a sexagenarian, though.

The Hausswolff reminded me of Bowie’s Crystal Japan, NIN’s a Warm Place, some Mogwai, King Missile‘s Happy Hour

Iirc, this Sinead song is the first of her songs that KEXP played when the news broke of her death, and the station switched to Sinead tribute mode. I teared up just looking at the playlist, without actually hearing the song

@ROb from Maryland - When I am up and about between 6 and 7:30 am, if I see a particularly nice sunrise, I will step outside and take a photo, but on a cold morning when I haven't gone down yet, it would take a pretty incredible sunrise to get me out of my warm bed!

I like to lie in bed until noon or later, I am a night person.

@Number 6 - I was a night person until I had a daughter who is a very much a morning person. She normally wakes me by 6 or 6:30 am, but sometimes I get to drift back into the warm embrace of sleep for a bit longer afterwards. i am not a napper though, I wish it was easy for me to fall asleep! Today I'm chilly in studio so I'm wearing two jackets and it is making me very cozy

@Lizbot, I bet (re your tribute and the song choice). I (re-)learned things about O'Connor and heard a lot of songs I wasn't familiar with. And was all the sadder.

At one point I was kind of a morning person (enthusiastic birder) and a night person (live music!) at the same time. If there was a band I wanted to see, and also an out-of-range bird I wanted to look for, it was kind of tough to decide sometimes

@Rob from Maryland - Yeah, I had a good friend in high school who was a massive Sinéad fan and she and I used to go on road-trips from Jersey to Massachusetts when she switched to a school in the Berkshires and we'd listen to so much Sinéad on the tape-deck of her sister's old junker car (which eventually broke down on one of those trips in a massive snowstorm and never survived to drive another day)

@ROb from Maryland - Doing the tribute made me very nostalgic, but also made me remember just how incredible an artist Sinéad was

@Lizbot, though I wasn't a fan per se, I knew O'Connor was very important, so I was immediately sad upon hearing the news even before the tributes started. And yikes about your friend's junker car

I found that when I have traveled to place near the equator, it's easier for me to rise early in the morning, AND it's preferable for so many reasons, not the least of which are: It's cool enough to go out at that time of day in hot places, and it's the time of day that those places have loads of birds out and about, especially tropical places with loads of parrots!

@Carlos Ramone - MontCo is so huge, but I think Ambler is part of it. I was there to see The Leftovers (I recommend it!) at the Ambler Theater a couple weeks ago and it was so eerie out that night! Plus a weird vibe of Christmas lights combined with leftover halloween decorations on people's stoops

@Rob from Maryland - She was definitely a victim of a lot of assumptions and stereotyping about her as a bleeding heart and oversensitive after the whole pope photo tearing controversy, and man, I remember her getting utterly dragged through the mud back then and it being unfair, but revisiting that era through the recent doc on her made me so sad and angry for her. She was misunderstood, and she turned out to be right and waaaaay ahead of her time about abuse in the church

@ Liz..I have a work jacket with company log ironed on a WPRB patch over it..somebody at a stop on my day spotted it and started talking music..a 3rd joined in..15 minute talk about WPRB..city gardens..Zadars..city gardens book..all while on the clock!!

@Carlos Ramone - I also wanna see at Ambler that new Nicolas Cage movie, "Dream Scenario," which looks satisfyingly weird and unnerving and I've heard good things about. That's out now. Plus the new Yorgos Lanthimos movie, "Poor Things," which should be coming out soon

@Carlos Ramone - Amazing! I love when WPRB merch/discussion brings people together! All the better that it was on the clock! I used to buy work clothes from the [at this point long-defunct] Pennsauken Mart in South Jersey because they had the sturdiest jackets and I liked the random nametags and patches on them, but I wish I'd added a WPRB patch on top! One of them had the baffling company name patch "Lead Man Handle"

@liz…I remember seeing the Offspring at the Mart right before they blew up

@Carlos Ramone - Perform live? I didn't even know there were live performances at The Mart. I always knew it as a massive indoor flea market with all kinds of oddball stands

@Carlos Ramone - My husband got his first guitar at The Mart. There was a video store called "movie mania" that had thousands of VHS tapes, including some pretty hard to find stuff! THat was my favorite spot in the Mart!

@liz..they had a small hall where they would have some auctions..wrestling matches and once in a while bands

In my early to mid-20s a group of my friends lived in a house together near Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly and we used to have so much fun piling into the car to drive together to The Mart on a Friday night and buy junk food and silly stuff for the hous

@Number 6 - I don't know. I have it on my laptop. It is an old one, "the pie" featuring the band The Ex. It was on the old IR machine in the main studio for many years and was rescued from there during the early days of the pandemic

New Jersey bird (nerd) news: There's a Red-flanked Bluetail (a Siberian breeder in the Old World flycatcher family), currently in Ocean County. It's in Manchester Township, in a 55+ community, and is the first time this species has been seen so far east in North America. The closest previous sightings are from Wyoming and Idaho.

https://ebird.org/species/refblu -- it's a female or immature male. I've given some thought to going to see it, but it is a 3+ hour one-way drive and it is not always visible. If I did go, I certainly would listen to WPRB!!!

@Joe Moore - I am SO sad I had to miss The Screaming Females opening for The Breeders - I bought my tickets the moment they went on sale and was looking forward to it for months, but I had a family emergency involving my dad that night and had to skip it. Would have been such a nostalgic night of music I listened to a ton in high school plus a great Don Giovanni band I've followed in the last decade and a half. I saw Marisa P perform on the roof of a double-decker bus in Philly once years ago!
