Hello! It's good to be back!
Number 6 5:01:32 PM
Greetings, I had my fill of turkey for the year!
Rob from Maryland 5:02:01 PM
Oh, that's good!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:04 PM
Hi Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:08 PM
Hi Rob!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:46 PM
@Number 6 - Thanksgiving went by so quickly, I never got to the turkey!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:34 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I assume you're referring to the Fall Drive results, but i read your comment in a Mark Mothersbaugh voice
Number 6 5:07:59 PM
@lizbot- Did you know about Subjangle on bandcamp?
Lizbot (host) 5:09:13 PM
@Number 6 - no, I gotta check it out!
Number 6 5:09:22 PM
Lovers of anything that jangles, we are the official label of the janglepophub blog. They have a bunch of freebies too.
Lizbot (host) 5:11:51 PM
@Number 6 - oooooh!!! DEFINITELY need to peruse that later!
Number 6 5:15:12 PM
I like The Happy Somethings, and The Chickpea Darlings, among others.
DSM 5:17:05 PM
Forgot what a banger this one is!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:17 PM
Hi DSM! Yes!
DSM 5:18:16 PM
Could probably sell a million cars if someone used
DSM 5:18:26 PM
Hey Lizbot!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 🍳 MONTHLY DOUGH-NER 5:18:39 PM
Lizbot (host) 5:18:58 PM
Hi Chef! Mmmm, dough-ner
Lizbot (host) 5:19:17 PM
@Chef Emeril Lagasse - Donut not donate!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:23 PM
@DSM - Probably! Stars Forever was the first Momus album that got me really into Momus and led to me getting his whole back catalog. The first time I saw him perform was for the Folktronic album tour. He played at the Khyber in Philly and his laptop died mid-set! He simply got a drink at the bar while he charged it for 10 minutes so he could resume his performance
Lizbot (host) 5:23:08 PM
@Number 6 - I emailed myself a note to check those bands out! I will be sifting through a bunch of stuff on there, I'm sure!
Rob from Maryland 5:27:06 PM
@Lizbot, my "Oh, that's good" came directly from the station ID right before you first spoke.
Lizbot (host) 5:30:09 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Oh, haha! I hear that one so much, I don't even hear it anymore! It's my show intro ID I made many years ago, and it pops into my head often, but now I am thinking about one where DEVO's That's Good plays when she says "oooh, that's GOOD, isn't it?"
Stephen Higgins 5:31:53 PM
Thursdays with DoublePlusGood! Love it!
Lizbot (host) 5:32:20 PM
Hi Stephen Higgins! Thanks for tuning in!
Stephen Higgins 5:32:51 PM
Always my pleasure!
Brian D 5:34:45 PM
Lizbot (host) 5:35:56 PM
@Brian D - Or as my friend's dad would say when he heard Tull "...mmmmm, FLUTE"
Number 6 5:36:33 PM
Not Homer & Jethro!
Brian D 5:37:22 PM
Bass! NOW!
Andrew WestCoast 5:37:38 PM
Jethro Tull??? The last time I heard them it was part of "Another classic rock block!" 😄
Andrew WestCoast 5:37:58 PM
One of their best songs. :D
Lizbot (host) 5:39:29 PM
Hi Andrew WestCoast - haha, we don't discriminate against classic rock songs and Scottish flute-playing satyrs here at WPRB!
Brian D 5:39:50 PM
Martin Barre switches to marimba on the live lp version of Skating Away. Bursting Out. With censored naughty announcements from Ian... Love that song and lp. And this Steeleye Span! One o their best!
TAndy 5:40:07 PM
I do, only if it's the pan flute. We do one tube instruments in this house.
Lizbot (host) 5:40:08 PM
I need this jig rock to rouse my brain in these long winter nights!
Brian D 5:40:45 PM
They had some similar guitar tones and other bits.. Steeleye and Tull. No doubt crossed paths
Lizbot (host) 5:40:51 PM
@Brian D - Said friend's dad was my boss for a while, and he rarely talked. He would just sit at his basement office desk and would appear very infrequently, but one day he was working quietly next to me for hours, no words at all exchanged, and then Jethro Tull came on the radio, and he stopped cold, sat silently, frozen, for a full 20 seconds, and approvingly grunted "mmmm, FLUTE"
Lizbot (host) 5:40:57 PM
Hi TAndy!
Brian D 5:40:58 PM

mmmm, [more] FLUTE!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:27 PM
plus it's friend, the jaunty harpsichord
Lizbot (host) 5:43:08 PM
For a second it sounded like he was gonna launch into moon dance
Brian D 5:43:25 PM
Very Wes A / Devo Mark soundtrack ish take of Bouree here
Brian D 5:44:04 PM
The schnorts and howls love that
Lizbot (host) 5:44:11 PM
@Brian D - Yeah, I could see this in a Wes Anderson montage with miniature train model trees and some dancing creature
Lizbot (host) 5:44:29 PM
@Brian D - and that creature is Ian Anderson going "neeeahhah"
Lizbot (host) 5:44:47 PM
@TAndy - THis time of year we need as many pan flutes as we can get our hands on! We will SURELY be hearing from Mr. Anderson once again during the Doubleplusgood closest to the Winter Solstice
Andrew WestCoast 5:45:24 PM
Most non-jazz or classical flutists had zero tone. I give rock'n'roller Ian A credit for at least having real tone.
Lizbot (host) 5:45:36 PM
@Brian D - The live version is Skating Away...After Dark!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:06 PM
@Andrew WestCoast - trillllllllllllllllllllllll + snoooort!
TAndy 5:46:12 PM
Winter solstice is upon us already? I remember when it was just June...
Brian D 5:47:14 PM
Ring out solstice bells...
Lizbot (host) 5:47:41 PM
@Andrew WestCoast - I am impressed he could play that whilst prancing all over the stage! If I had to prance in my school's band, I'd have immediately chipped my clarinet reed and honked
Lizbot (host) 5:48:42 PM
@Brian D - How DID you know those bells are poised and ready for the ringing?! Yes, I must bring that one out again later in December
Lizbot (host) 5:49:02 PM
This song slinks like a cat
Lizbot (host) 5:49:45 PM
@TAndy - December 21st. I'll probably play some solstice songs the Thursday before!
Richard from Rocky Hill 5:50:32 PM
@ Lizbot (host) Steeleye Span soars! Maddy Pryor rules! And that version of "All Around My Hat" is one of MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE recordings. (Can you sense my gratitude for your playing it?)
Lizbot (host) 5:52:24 PM
Hi Richard from Rocky Hill! Thanks for tuning in and for your enthusiasm! I LOVE All Around My Hat. It always cheers me up!
Brian D 5:58:14 PM
Richard from Rocky Hill 5:58:54 PM
@ Lizbot (host) You and Steeleye Span just helped me complete a major, nagging old newspaper/magazine cleanout chore ... just in time for recycling tomorrow morning! :-))
Randy Marthins 6:00:12 PM
Happy Thursday !!!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:17 PM
Hi Randy Marthins! Happy Thursday to yoU!
Lizbot (host) 6:03:42 PM
@Richard from Rocky Hill - Happy to hear it! Tonight is trash night for me and I went into a tidying up fervor yesterday in order to whip my house into shape for the holidays and host some family this weekend! I have more to do when I get home, but I am very happy with my progress thus far!
Alan Pasnyk 6:07:39 PM
Heyyyyyy Lizbot!!!!! Fellow "Ex-Fairmounter"... Been a Long Time! Hello from Doylestown, PA, where the yard work ends when the sun goes down....
Lizbot (host) 6:08:01 PM
Hi Alan Pasnyk!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:04 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - It was a short-lived but very welcome relatively warm sunny day! I should have rammed the silly light projector I got for the house into the flower patch in front while the soil wasn't frozen solid!
Alan Pasnyk 6:11:02 PM
Lizbot: Yep, Freezy time is upon us...
Lizbot (host) 6:11:43 PM
@Alan - Pretty soon I'll be doing my Winter Kills themed show!
Lizbot (host) 6:11:56 PM
@Alan - I generally save that one for January or February
Roffle 6:12:26 PM
Hi! Cool cross-section of stuff Lizbot! I got a guiter today and it is still warming up in the bow before I open it. God damn Black fridays!
Alan Pasnyk 6:12:31 PM
Lizbot: I ALWAYS enjoy your show!!!!
Gautham Kalva 6:12:43 PM
Hi @Lizbot, I heard @number 6 play “ Ben Levin X Liam Wilson Confinement Confinements” very similar to Joe Frank and I was wondering how u came across Ben Levin? Anybody else like Joe Frank out there to read or listen to? Thanks
Alan Pasnyk 6:13:18 PM
Hi Roffle!! Another addition to your Family!
Roffle 6:14:20 PM
Yes sir. Cheap is good. :)
Lizbot (host) 6:14:27 PM
Hi Gautham Kalva! I found Ben Levin x Liam Wilson in the early days of the pandemic when I was online constantly looking for odd/interesting music. I can't remember quite how i stumbled upon it, but they have a bandcamp page and I'm on bandcamp a lot!
Lizbot (host) 6:14:32 PM
Hello there, Roffle!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:15:19 PM
Hey fronds! How’s it going?
Alan Pasnyk 6:15:44 PM
Addie! Hi S&S!!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:05 PM
@Roffle - Thanks! haha, I ignored Black Friday, But I wish I had at least taken advantage of it a little bit because i have three broken light fixtures i really am missing now that the sun sets earlu!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:34 PM
Hello Addie and snek friends! How is the scene in Vermont this late fall into winter?
Roffle 6:17:39 PM
@Lizbot, yea, it's a great time to stock up on regular stuff, but I always get suckered in somehow.
Lizbot (host) 6:18:07 PM
I like how this song heavily sways back and forth, occasionally bumping into zoo animals
Roffle 6:19:15 PM
It's like the animal sound wheel my kid had. lol
Alan Pasnyk 6:19:19 PM
I got sucked into Black Friday, first time ever, doggone AI Robots readin' my mind, but It was CD by Native American flute player that I heard on DJ Dionysiac's show!!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:44 PM
@Roffle - haha, I get so resentful of all the Black Friday/Sale Extended!/Cyber Monday emails and ads everywhere, I always ignore it and rebel against it...but then sometimes i am like, crap, I do wish I had gotten a couple things I needed. Oh well! The incessant ads and spam is outta control!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:59 PM
oh boy, the animals are in an uproar and have killed the composer
Alan Pasnyk 6:20:01 PM
Lovin' this Perrey track!
Lizbot (host) 6:20:20 PM
@ROffle - Oh yay! Especiallu that sheep baaah!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:20:39 PM
Hi Alan!! The snakes send hisses!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:21:03 PM
Hi Lizbot! Things are sadly snow-free here!
Roffle 6:21:27 PM
@ Alan, "AI Robots readin' my mind", man that is so true. Al Gore rhythm.
Lizbot (host) 6:21:54 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Well that sounded worthwhile! And at least the artist probably got some little kickback from that sale! I ran TOO far from the sales and now realize i still gotta buy these light fixtures but now they're full price again. Boo.
Randy Marthins 6:21:59 PM
@addie - are you a North or South?
Lizbot (host) 6:22:29 PM
@Roffle - The AI bots are anticipating what we want before we even know we do!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:22:54 PM
Hi Randy, ‘bout 15 minutes north of Burlington
Lizbot (host) 6:23:08 PM
@Addie - Hisses received and appreciated! We got like 2 seconds of snow in Philly yesterday morning
Alan Pasnyk 6:23:30 PM
Addie: I was thinking of you the other day when we had that cold snap. Do you have a Plan B for when the power might go out, 'cause cold Pythons ain't so happy..
Randy Marthins 6:23:34 PM
WAY NORTH - My aunt lives near Stratton Mt
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:24:06 PM
@Alan everyone recommends this pocket handwarmers!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:24:40 PM
@Randy yup! Pretty close to the border.
Alan Pasnyk 6:25:25 PM
Lizbot: Fripp !!! Is the Red Bellied Parrot still with us????
Roffle 6:25:41 PM
Addie you do come to mind every time I hear the phrase "Lake-effect snow".
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:25:50 PM
@Alan Frodo has been getting a series of injections for a respiratory infection, but I’m happy to report he’s doing great!
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:26:35 PM
@ Lizbot (host) I think the famed film noir climax in the hall of mirrors is from "The Lady from Shanghai" starring Orson Welles and then-wife Rita Hayworth.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:26:59 PM
@Roffle that weirdly does not apply to us! We get less snow here than in southern Vermont since we’re in a big valley caused by the lake!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:27:21 PM
But it’s nice to know I’m thought of in relation to snow! ❄️
Brian D 6:28:29 PM
Need a shot of bruschotti! And some freschetta! And some triple double check....
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:28:31 PM
The scene included them mocking and verbally attacking each other ... and shooting out the mirrors ... trying to find the real person but also symbolizing their destruction of each others' identities.
Roffle 6:28:38 PM
Oh, I hear ya, I just think of everything up there is lake-effected for whatever reason.
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:29:24 PM
But I'm shooting from the mirrors of my aging memory about the film & its title!
DSM 6:29:39 PM
Probably my fave Onyeabor album overall. Great show tonight Lizbot!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:30:47 PM
Just love Wm. Onyeabor!
Lizbot (host) 6:30:58 PM
@Alan & @Addie - When I had pet hedgehogs and lost power, I had a contingency plan to bring them to my friend's house who was close but on a different grid than me. This plan was only enacted once, and I proabably would have been better off keeping them at home on me for body warmth because my friend's cat could not get enough of the hogs!
DSM 6:31:24 PM
Addie rad snek head!
Lizbot (host) 6:31:29 PM
@Addie - pocket handwarmers would be good for sneks, but not any animals that like to chew!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:32:27 PM
Thanks DSM! I was, of course, Medusa for Halloween.
Alan Pasnyk 6:33:05 PM
Lizbot: It probably sounded a little like that Perrey track at your friend's house with the animals...
DSM 6:33:05 PM
Well done Addie!
Lizbot (host) 6:33:45 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Why, Yes! Fripp the Crimson-Bellied Conure is alive and well and snurfling [what i call mocking my conversations in cadence and general sound without getting fully enunciated words out) to his heart's content! He does also have a couple of phrases he loves to call out to me all day, but the most disturbing sound he makes is his cackle! He loves mimicking laughter!
Lizbot (host) 6:34:08 PM
@Addie - oh no, I hope Frodo fully recovers soon!
DSM 6:34:08 PM
Lizbot hedgehogs are the cutest! How were they as pets? I've heard their not as friendly as Instagram would have them appear ...
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:34:17 PM
@ @ Lizbot (host) I just googled it. Yes, "The Lady from Shanhai" starring Orson Welles (also directed) and Rita Hayworth (but they were in the midst of seperating and divorcing when the movie was made).
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:34:41 PM
...Shanghai ...
Roffle 6:34:45 PM
Oh that's cool Addie, just noticed that is hair and not the background. :)!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:34:59 PM
Thanks Lizbot. By all reports from the vet, he is a surprisingly healthy guy aside from this cold.
Lizbot (host) 6:35:00 PM
@Richard from Rocky Hill - oh RIGHT! THAnk yoU! I had a feeling it involved Orson Welles! Could not call it up in my mind in that moment! I gotta show my kid that one!
Lizbot (host) 6:35:45 PM
@Brian D - haha, I thought of you when quoting Longmont Potion Castle!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:36:04 PM
Thanks Roffle! There were a surprising amount of options for Medusa headdresses.
Alan Pasnyk 6:36:48 PM
Lizbot: Wow! Yayyy! Glad to hear Fripp is going strong, hopefully parrot wisdom comes with age! :)
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:37:14 PM
@ Lizbot (host) You're most welcome, a very small repayment for spinning "All Around My Hat"!
Alan Pasnyk 6:37:45 PM
( Red Bellied Conure that is)
Roffle 6:38:20 PM
I follow Fripp and his wife;s weirdo channel. Love it!
Rob from Maryland 6:38:22 PM
@Lizbot (5:30 PM), I don't know the DEVO "That's Good" thing (yet)
Lizbot (host) 6:38:31 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Truly it does! She has an endless revolving door of foster cats and kittens, a huge flock of chickens and ducks, a couple ferrets, a couple corn snakes and there's always some friends' animals boarding there!
Lizbot (host) 6:41:20 PM
@DSM - I've had four hedgehogs over the years. Their personalities vary dramatically! Two were utter sweethearts and loved attention. One was extremely grumpy and just wanted to be left alone. And one was fairly chill but liked his alone time too. That one loved baths a lot. Half of them hated baths and the other two loved them. So you really can never know. I got owning hogs outta my system and I don't plan on getting any again any time soon. They were fun, but clean-up was a lot!
Number 6 6:41:42 PM
@Lizbot- Ever notice anything strange about The Barge? The water in the terlet upstairs goes around clockwise. It is south of the equator, perhaps?
Lizbot (host) 6:42:21 PM
@Rob from Maryland - It's one of the classic DEVO singles that has been periodically stuck in my head since I was a kid. It has a bit of a The Knack "My Sharona" sound to it
Lizbot (host) 6:42:54 PM
@Addie - I found a green foam Medusa head in a free pile one Halloween and wore that with a robe!
Alan Pasnyk 6:44:02 PM
Number 6 HI!! My cousin went to Australia, and I asked her to check out the toilets. She said they go counter-clockwise like ours...
Lizbot (host) 6:44:11 PM
@Roffle - Oh yeah, Fripp and Toya's "Sunday Brunch" is one of those rare good things that came out of Covid! I love their whole dynamic! Seems like a fun house (houses, actually! Apparently they live in two houses that share a garden!)
Roffle 6:44:42 PM
Hi Number 6. Sounds like you discovered the cause of the flood. Some joker put an Australian where an American Standard should've been.
Lizbot (host) 6:45:18 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Vocab and an expanded library of sounds certainly comes with parrot age! He's a total nut and loves to make crazy noises while on his rope swing
Roffle 6:45:43 PM
Yes, their estate looks lovely.
Lizbot (host) 6:46:13 PM
@Number 6 - Whoa...What?! I have never noticed. Whenever I'm in that bathroom I'm always in a hurry to get back downstairs! Haunted terlet!
Number 6 6:47:02 PM
Who knows who lived there before we moved in!
Lizbot (host) 6:47:05 PM
@Roffle - Did you see the Sunday Brunch where Fripp and Toya dress up as bees and run around their garden?? THat was possibly the first episode of Sunday Brunch and the most I ever saw of their estate!
DSM 6:47:17 PM
Lizbot, interesting and good to know! (the hogs)
Lizbot (host) 6:48:07 PM
@RIchard from Rocky Hill - THank you for your knowledge! I was picturing that scene in my head!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:03 PM
@DSM - Yeah, just know that they will not be potty-trained to use litterboxes. Occasionally I encounter someone online who claims they've managed this feat (well, their hogs have,) but i don't believe them! The biggest mess with hedgies is that they utterly love to run and will run all night long on their (modified, larger than a hamster's) wheel but they poop all over it and it needs constantly scrubbing
Roffle 6:50:38 PM
@Lizbot, yes, lol. They have a couple of videos in the yard too.
Alan Pasnyk 6:50:57 PM
Through the magic of Laptops and FM radio, I found out that you can play Carl Stone and Perrey and Kingsley together
Lizbot (host) 6:51:19 PM
@DSM - Hedgehogs also do this weird thing where they chew on something they like the scent of, then make a foam in their mouths and lick it onto their quills. It's called "anointing" and it looks utterly ridiculous when they do it because they try to stretch their tongues impossibly far to reach every quill
George Korein 6:52:45 PM
This Carl Stone is rocking my socks
Lizbot (host) 6:53:35 PM
@George Korein - yeah, there are parts 2/3 in that remind me of certain Bill Nelson tracks
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:53:37 PM
That track was a journey!
Carlos Ramone. 6:54:51 PM
@ the hedgehog talk…I adopted my daughter’s one when she moved out west and didn’t want to take him cross country..don’t miss the wheel full of poop
Roffle 6:54:52 PM
Hi George! Can't you just tighten a screw for that?
George Korein 6:55:24 PM
Yes, that's about when I tuned in again (I was forbidden the music at the dinner table)
Lizbot (host) 6:55:25 PM
@Addie - i'm glad ppl enjoyed that journey! I love Carl Stone but don't play the really long tracks often and most of his are long, especially my favorites, because he excels at taking borrowed sounds and making building these layered collages that go somewhere really cool over the course of 15+ minutes!
George Korein 6:56:32 PM
Yeah it was silenced in the middle of "Jungle Blues from Jupiter"
Lizbot (host) 6:56:41 PM
Hi Carlos Ramone!
Alan Pasnyk 6:57:28 PM
George: Ahhhh the joys of living alone here!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:57:47 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Yeah, honestly if not for poop-wheels I'd maaaaaaaybe consider getting another, but I had a pretty good stretch of hedgie ownership!
Lizbot (host) 6:58:17 PM
Speaking of Fripp!
Roffle 6:58:50 PM
Exposure is great.
Lizbot (host) 6:59:02 PM
@George Korein - But it's for the musical education of the children!! They are our future!!! It's cool, though, she hears enough of my music a home!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:34 PM
@George Korein - i hope Nuala appreciated the animals sounds she heard in that track before it was silenced!
George Korein 7:00:27 PM
Exposure is decent
Alan Pasnyk 7:00:29 PM
Mom: What's that crazy music? Alan: Sneaks a transistor radio into the basement in a laundry basket...
DSM 7:00:39 PM
Love this insider hedgie knowledge, the urge was strong in me during covid times but died down, and maybe is best just to appreciate hog media from afar lol
George Korein 7:01:11 PM
Roffle: screwby do
Carlos Ramone. 7:01:13 PM
@ daughter has him tattooed her her leg..Mr Schmi Schmu. I used to let him run around the house..our golden got close to him once and that was it
Lizbot (host) 7:07:46 PM
@Carlos Ramone - oh no! Yeah, i let mine run around this long built-in banquette in my kitchen, so they were elevated enough off the floor that no one could step on them. My dog didn't care about them, but my cat would like to have pounced on them if given half a chance. They rode around in my hoodies and nightgown pockets since they're nocturnal and like to burrow
Lizbot (host) 7:08:15 PM
George - you can tell the child that a song from one of her favorite movies is on right now!
Lizbot (host) 7:10:26 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - haha, oh man, I had a very old 60s clunky tape recorder from my mom's school where she taught and I used to record dumb stuff and try to freak out my family by playing it back while hidden! I also recorded my own shows I made as a kid on it. I wish I had some of those tapes!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:24 PM
@DSM - Yeah, I recommend that. If you want them to like you, you gotta just luck out on personality AND spend time with them at night when they're more alert
George Korein 7:11:49 PM
Unfortunately, when I did she was unmoved (or acted so)
Lizbot (host) 7:13:34 PM
George Korein - As is her right as a teenager
Rob from Maryland 7:13:55 PM
Matmos! My wife is happy!!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:21 PM
@Carlos Ramone - I am now picturing hedgehog tattoos! Not a bad thing to get inked and easily to clean up!
Lizbot (host) 7:16:52 PM
@DSM /@Carlos Ramone - My crowning glory with my hedgehogs was when a classmate of my kid's, when they were both around 7, had a hedgehog-themed birthday party because she wanted a pet hog but didn't have one herself, and I brought one of my friendly ones. The kids went BONKERS. Then I took my kid and said hedgehog straight to a pre-planned one-night local camping trip and the hedgie climbed all over the kids in the tent!
Lizbot (host) 7:17:55 PM
If this sounds familiar, you might have ridden Space Mountain
DSM 7:18:04 PM
oh wow, making dreams come true Lizbot!
Alan Pasnyk 7:19:23 PM
Lizbot: Hedgehog + Kids in tent + Tape recorder = ??????????
Lizbot (host) 7:19:48 PM
@DSM - I remember thinking the projected meteors floating on the ceiling in Space Mountain were chocolate chip cookies at first and I wondering why they had giant cookies floating in space. In my defense, I was 6
Lizbot (host) 7:20:11 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - oh, i WISH! But I DID get plenty of photos!
Carlos Ramone. 7:21:06 PM
@liz..since tattoos were mentioned.daughter sent me a pic of a guy with a tattoo of PWHerman pushing a large donut with a snake next to him…This is when Simone asks PW about his dream and he tells her of the dream he had..not a life goal
Lizbot (host) 7:22:03 PM
@DSM /@Carlos Ramone / Alan / everyone - Another highlight was when two of my hedgies were featured on Animal Planet's "Too Cute." I had to sign releases and everything. My kid is only on screen for two seconds but the hedgehogs are in it the whole time, BUT the show's writers change SO many things - They changed their names from Tiggy and Snifter to Spike and some other boring name I don't remember now! Even animal reality TV is LIES
George Korein 7:22:57 PM
This song is rad and so is Space Mountain
Lizbot (host) 7:23:07 PM
@George Korein - Glad you enjoyed them!
Alan Pasnyk 7:23:27 PM
Lying about animal names LOLOLOLOL!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:23:52 PM
This song is proving a weird soundtrack for something my dog is doing right now.
Lizbot (host) 7:24:01 PM
@George Korein - That Space Mountain theme is one of the few ride songs I remember enjoying as a kid but I didn't know who Dick Dale was when I was 7, and even when I did, I didn't realize he made that song until well into my adulthood!
Lizbot (host) 7:24:42 PM
@Addie - haha, I want a Coil video that just stars a dog doing something weird.
sean burns 7:24:50 PM
This reminds me of the Moody blues segment during their 1970 and 1971 or was it 72 concerts
Lizbot (host) 7:25:02 PM
@Addie - The Coil song "Ostia: The Death of Pasolini" has some dog borks throughout
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:25:13 PM
He’s staring into an odd location like he’s seeing ghosts.
Alan Pasnyk 7:26:00 PM
Addie: Spoooooky!
Lizbot (host) 7:26:20 PM
Hi Sean! Yeah, an industrial spooky synth interlude for dark winter nights could easily double as moody blues 70s trip-out music for people to get high in parking lots to
Lizbot (host) 7:27:25 PM
@Addie - Oh, that IS the right music for that! I am always a bit spooked when my dog does that! Or hears something I don't in the middle of the night and suddenly perks up.
Alan Pasnyk 7:28:04 PM
Coil = Attack of the Crimson Bellied Conures
Lizbot (host) 7:28:25 PM
@Addie - My birds sometimes stop what theyre doing, fall silent and stare at a fixed point on the floor, but it is ALWAYS at a bug. They can be way up on the ceiling and spot an ant
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:29:21 PM
Ooo, @lizbot, THAT sounds creepy
Lizbot (host) 7:29:45 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - HA! Why didn't I think of that?! Fripp would love nothing more than to rip the glasses off every Parisian's face and throw them on the ground. I'm not sure how else he'd destroy Paris, but he'd find ways
Alan Pasnyk 7:30:24 PM
...Conures use Extremely Loud Decibels to vacate Paris..Oh nooo!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:17 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - "Lying about animal names LOLOLOLOL!" : I never looked at Animal Planet the same after that! I also noticed that EVERY episode of "Too Cute" has the same baby pool and fuzzy yellow blanket that the baby animals play in, like all breeders and pet owners everywhere in the country somehow have this exact baby pool and blanket
Alan Pasnyk 7:32:09 PM
...The Conure squawking sound becomes intolerable, Glass shatters, buildings collapse...
Alan Pasnyk 7:32:50 PM
.... Then they all roost in the Eiffel Tower, mission accomplished..
Lizbot (host) 7:33:51 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Fripp is probably fantasizing about that exact scenario when he suddenly lets out his signature cackles!
Lizbot (host) 7:35:06 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Nesting in the Eiffel Tower reminds me - There is a long-running flock of Monk Parrots that nest in the giant gothic stone entrance gates of The Green Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. The colony began as escaped pets!
Alan Pasnyk 7:37:03 PM
Escaped pets. We had a 10 foot snake escape around these parts quite a few years back. It even made local news..
Lizbot (host) 7:37:41 PM
@ALan Pasnyk - At first preservationists in NYC were concerned the parrots might be damaging the 200 year-old stone gates, but then they realized that pigeons are afraid of the parrots and stay away when theyre there, and the pigeon poop is more acidic and was doing more damage to the stone and surrounding headstones than the parrot poop does! So parrots for the win!
Lizbot (host) 7:38:24 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Yikes. My friend found her escaped corn snake in her own yard a year later and put him back inside but at that point he was pretty feral!
Alan Pasnyk 7:39:34 PM
Local news told residents to be careful for their and the pet's safety..
Lizbot (host) 7:41:38 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - What kind of snake? I imagine mostly local rodents were in peril
Alan Pasnyk 7:42:59 PM
Lizbot: From what I remember it was some sort of very large Boa Constrictor type, but not a Ball Python ...
Lizbot (host) 7:43:32 PM
Here's a band for Fripp the parrot: Beak>. Maybe he can learn to mimic some of these sounds and make my life a horror movie
Lizbot (host) 7:46:01 PM
@Alan Pasnyk - Okay, that fills me with fear. If I learned anything from Shel Silverstein, it's that boa constrictors will swallow me whole (after they squeeze the life outta me)
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:46:10 PM
Sounds like a Burmese python, Alan!
Alan Pasnyk 7:46:23 PM
This place was vacant for a while, came up here and saw Bear footprints in the snow right next to the house...
DJ Hog 7:46:23 PM
this song rocks... kind of sounds like if stereolab played at a funeral
Alan Pasnyk 7:47:10 PM
...You could tell they were bear because of the very Long Claws footprint in the snow..
Alan Pasnyk 7:48:07 PM
Addie: I guess, it was during the middle of the summer...
Lizbot (host) 7:48:17 PM
@DJ Hog - oh yeah, I could see that!
Alan Pasnyk 7:49:58 PM
Addie: Thinking now, yes I'm pretty sure about the Burmese being mentioned...
Lizbot (host) 7:51:09 PM
@Addie - When I worked at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philly as a teen, I worked with a couple of snake enthusiasts, (we all worked in the Live Animal Unit, which had various snakes, amongst other animals.) One came in one day distraught because her snake had gone missing and turned up in the toaster. I guess it couldn't resist that heat source. Sorry for this upsetting snake content, Addie!

@Number 6 - Apt name. I wasn't a big fan of the taxidermy in the first place, but ESPECIALLY after I walked into what I expect to be one of the animal feed storage rooms in the massive labyrinthine basement there, but had taken a wrong turn and wound up stepping into a dark room, flicking the switch to see a huge FLAYED HORSE upside down on a table right in front of me!!!
Rob from Maryland 7:58:23 PM
Thanks for ending the show this way, Lizbot!!

@Alan Pasnyk - Especially when you consider I had a full-on freakout when i saw the live bees in the Academy's "Outside IN" display. I had just gotten 16 stings the summer before and am allergic! They were contained in plexiglass with a hole to the outside of the building, but I fully saw them bust through the glass in my traumatized kid brain!
