John Abercrombie is a jazz guitarist born 16 December 1944 in Port Chester, NY - died 22 August 2017 in Cortland, NY. Ralph Towner is a multi-instrumentalist, born in Chehalis, Washington, on 1 March 1940. Both have a large catalog on ECM.

This performance was recorded at a concert in Hamburg Germany in 1984.

Loituma is a quartet combining the Finnish vocal tradition with the kantele (Finnish harp). Two of them left for Sweden and joined Hedingarna.

Released in Finland as "Kuutamolla".

Claude Léveillée is an author, composer, performer, pianist and actor from Québec born 16 October 1932, in Montréal and died 9 June 2011. He had a long and varied musical career, exploring prog rock for a short time in the late 1970s.

Franck Dervieux was a keyboardist from Quebec, starting in Jean-Pierre Ferland's band. Stricken with cancer, Dervieux summoned the strength to record his one solo release in 1972, backed with musicians that went on to form the group Contraction. Dervieux appeared on Contraction's debut LP (also 1972) but died shortly thereafter.

Dungen ("the grove") is a Swedish band based in Stockholm, fronted by singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist Gustav Ejstes. Their music blends psychedelic rock with alternative rock and Swedish folk music.

Tigran Hamasyan is an Armenian jazz pianist, born in 1987. He often incorporates Armenian melodies into his music.

This is the earliest recording of John Marshall I could locate, recorded when he would have been 25-26 years old.

Pioneering jazz-rock, progressive, psychedelic band from Britain, led by Ian Carr. The band existed from 1969 to 1989. Karl Jenkins and John Marshall would leave to join Soft Machine later.

Chris Spedding was a guitarist with Nucleus, joined here by John Marshall on drums. Originally issued in Japan in 1970, this is a bonus track on the 2015 reissue.

After the release of Soft Machine's Fourth, drummer Robert Wyatt departed the group and was replaced first by Phil Howard (for only 4 months), and then by John Marshall. This era took Soft Machine into a new jazzier direction. LBO is John Marshall's composition.

On "Six", John Marshall's old bandmate from Nucleus, Karl Jenkins, joined Soft Machine and brought an even stronger jazz fusion style.

In 1973, Soft Machine were Mike Ratledge, John Marshall, Roy Babbington, and Karl Jenkins. By this time, they were a pure jazz fusion group.

After an 18-month hiatus, Soft Machine regrouped with Allan Holdsworth on guitar. The group increasingly became an avenue for Karl Jenkins' compositions.

John Marshall was the drummer with Eberhard Weber Colours from 1977-1980.

French TV is an avant-progressive band founded in Louisville, Kentucky in 1983. They're a fun band that blends various progrock styles.

A French fusion super-group, formed in 1971 by two early members of Magma: François "Faton" Cahen and Jeff "Yochk'o" Seffer, and featuring many other talents of the 1970's prog and fusion fields. Zao took the Magma "Zeuhl" brand of fusion and jazzed it up a bit.

Simon Steensland is a Swedish multi-instrumentalist (drums, percussion, keyboards, wind instruments, etc.) and composer in the avant-prog field. This track is his cover of Christian Vander's "Malaria" for Magma's 40th Anniversary tribute.

ZAAR is a French chamber rock band that released a self-titled album in 2006 and broke up later that same year.
