Morning!

How did this show get the morning slot anyway? It's interesting for PRB.

I asked for it haha -- I have a pretty busy weekday schedule usually so weekend mornings are when I'm the most free usually

There never used to be anything remotely like rock music before noon.

I guess it's been a few years since they started mixing it up. It was always Classical on weekdays. And Sunday morning was Indian Classical and then a Bollywood show.

Yeah that makes sense, I don't know how many people would listen to hard rock early in the morning and yeah at some point I was playing before the Indian Classical show. I might ask for a weekday afternoon slot next season so the schedule might be slightly different

It was always Classical then Jazz then Rock. It was like that for years. It's interesting to change it. I think the Bollywood guy spun off his own online channel and now Indian Classical is at night I think?

I think the Indian Classical show Sangeet is still 9 am - 12 pm Saturdays, but I agree, I like switching up slots. Usually in the summer I do weekday afternoons and during fall seasons I do mornings but spring season has been more flexible

Yes, Sangeet is still Saturdays 9-12 noon.

Oh yeah, it just changed again. There was a kids show Saturday mornings that Pangea did. I used to have the station on most of the time at home, reception is not great anymore, I have to use the site.

there was a second Indian show late nights wasn't there? maybe it was being rebroadcast.

That must have been a rebroadcast during one season.

And , yes, Anil ki Awaaz was the Bollywood show. Anil Srivatsa went back to India to start a career there.

I mentioned a show in another chat no one remembered, they thought I was nuts. There used to be some crazy late-night shows.

That's the thing about WPRB: DJs come and go and shows appear and disappear constantly.

That's probably why WPRB dropped the Classical and Jazz block schedule. It's difficult to maintain a team of DJs conversant in those fields of music.

I recall hearing a story about a late night PRB show that was complete silence, followed by a voice that said "hello there" and then more silence 😭

Now I would've enjoyed listening to that hahahahah

I seem to have missed out on the period of time when the station had some truly weird programming at night I would hBe probably loved.

The classic "block of dead air", usually a rookie dj pressing the wrong button.

The late-night shows usually were taking advantage of the "safe harbor" rule to play unedited gangster rap, stuff like that.

I am a fan of the long rambling story that goes nowhere tho.

Or another classic was to ask for requests and then make fun of the request.

Very Metalcore morning.
