rosasolis (host) 8:21:41 PM
it was dark so early today!! i feel the need to drink something warm (or gin)
Roffle bɛnɪfækta 8:22:55 PM
@Alan -Yyuppers
Francis 8:23:44 PM
I hate the early nights. When I retire, I'm going to spend my winters in the Southern hemisphere to take advantage of the longer days
Francis 8:24:18 PM
Gotta find my mulling spices for some warm mulled red wine
Roffle bɛnɪfækta 8:24:50 PM
Gin tea? Thers are those days.

stevie monthly p 8:26:18 PM

rosasolis (host) 8:27:04 PM

Roffle bɛnɪfækta 8:27:14 PM
I own too many clocks
rosasolis (host) 8:27:26 PM

stevie monthly p 8:27:51 PM

Francis 8:28:11 PM
I guess they sampled the beginning to In the Meantime then?
TAndy: Monthly Doner 🥙 8:28:50 PM
Alan Pasnyk 8:29:44 PM
rosasolis (host) 8:30:58 PM
omg i just looked it up and spacehog does indeed sample penguin cafe! i need to listen to in the meantime again..
rosasolis (host) 8:31:09 PM
and yes i love faye wong <3
Francis 8:32:02 PM
Vaguely reminiscent of the Cocteau twins, and all those 4AD bands. I'm still weirded out by the sample in the begin
Roffle bɛnɪfækta 8:32:35 PM
Penguin's rule.
Roffle bɛnɪfækta 8:33:26 PM
Love yer babies
rosasolis (host) 8:33:46 PM
that faye wong release does really feel like an extra cocteau twins album (in the best way) and i agree roffle! they are lovebly derpy
stevie monthly p 8:34:42 PM
i'd just like to insert a pledge drive spot here: last Friday, right before noon, the DJ (i have to look up who) played songs from video games.
stevie monthly p 8:35:19 PM
... the song he played right before i went to a lunch meeting at noon: Jump Up Super Star from Mario Cart Oddessy.
stevie monthly p 8:35:52 PM
It not only got me jumped-up for my lunch meeting... it also became my new favorite song. Seriously

rosasolis (host) 8:38:52 PM
i think it was djtalldreams @stevie! that sounded like a great theme.. and @alan ooh that makes sense, i guess i shouldnt be surprised since she also covered the cranberries and others
rosasolis (host) 8:39:11 PM
@roffle definitely!
stevie monthly p 8:39:30 PM

stevie monthly p 8:42:38 PM
when i was setting up to rip my cassettes to digital, i discovered that all the belts in my high-end sony deck had melted into sad, sticky puddles of tar.
stevie monthly p 8:42:56 PM

Francis 8:43:42 PM
Oh crap - this song is awesome. Never heard it before. It's how I feel with the wind in the dark redwoods
stevie monthly p 8:44:20 PM
for anybody interested in big band video game songs, thanks to djtalldreams last friday... here's the yt of my new favorite "up" song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ2-FfXZlAU

i found replacement belts for 50 bucks. i'm just too lazy to buy em, clean out the melted belt mess, and fit the new belts.
rosasolis (host) 8:46:38 PM
@francis i love that image! her and the melody does feel icy in someway.. and omg thats so sad to hear stevie! i have a bunch of cassettes but dont know where to play them
stevie monthly p 8:49:49 PM
this is the amazon link to the belts i need. 31 bucks now. maybe now that the days are short and cold, i'll get to it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725D7VWQ/?coliid=IB5MYQG3DZKP5
stevie monthly p 8:50:42 PM
it just occurred to me... you can probably rent a high end cassette deck from a professional AV supply house.
Alan Pasnyk 8:51:14 PM
I found out the hard way not to clean the capstan rubber roller on cassette players with rubbing alcohol, makes the rubber brittle and go bad..
Alan Pasnyk 8:52:15 PM
stevie: Renting seems like a real good idea, since you're converting stuff...
Francis 8:52:16 PM
Rubber is going to age and harden no matter what you do. That's just normal maintenance
stevie monthly p 8:52:17 PM
