Good to be back
Number 6 5:01:11 PM
Catbird from Maryland 5:02:16 PM
Good afternoon Lizbot, Number 6, and everyone!
Lizbot (host) 5:02:53 PM
Hi Number 6!
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:02:59 PM
Lizbot (host) 5:03:13 PM
hey Catbird! What are you up to in my yard while I'm not there?!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:27 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - Dog.
Number 6 5:04:45 PM
Jim Copp did a song about a bird that was bothering him. I think that it was also a catbird.
Lizbot (host) 5:05:49 PM
@Number 6 - Ha! See? Catbirds are annnnnoying!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:20 PM
(Catbirds from Maryland are the exception, of course!
DJ Readie 5:06:26 PM
Hiya Lizbot, welcome back!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:34 PM
@Number 6 - Gotta find that one and add it to my bird songs
Lizbot (host) 5:06:39 PM
Hi Readie!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:45 PM
@Readie - Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:30 PM
THis song is so gorgeous but so sad. My dad has Alzheimer's and went in search of his childhood house. This song always reminds me of him
DJ Readie 5:07:42 PM
ah... Petah, Petah Petah....(St. Peter)
Lizbot (host) 5:08:06 PM
@Readie - Petah put on a good show!
DJ Readie 5:08:21 PM
@Lizbot- so beautiful a thought of your dad!
Number 6 5:08:53 PM
@Liz-The Birdie, he complained that it was also boring, compared to other birds.
DJ Readie 5:09:03 PM
@Lizbot - by the time it was on my radar- it was cost prohibitive for me to go...but I have seen him often, and will again I believe...
Stephen Bluhm 5:09:55 PM
Hey LizBot welcome back!
DJ Readie 5:10:08 PM
On the other hand, I did catch Patti Smith in Princeton last Saturday!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:03 PM
@Readie - He had a special guest, bonobo ape specialist Sue Savage, sitting just two rows in front of me !
Lizbot (host) 5:11:12 PM
Hi Stephen! Thank you
Lizbot (host) 5:11:45 PM
@Number 6 - Ha! Catbirds are drab grey, but at least they have jaunty tails
Lizbot (host) 5:14:34 PM
@Stephen - How are things in Hudson area?
DJ Readie 5:14:34 PM
Wow, @Lizbot, didthey shine the spotlight on here and did you bask in the wash from the light?
DJ Readie 5:14:46 PM
*on her*
Lizbot (host) 5:14:49 PM
@Readie - haha, for a second, yes!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:12 PM
@Readie - She had a very spiffy scarf
DJ Readie 5:15:55 PM
@Lizbot- fab!!!! Did he play Shock the Monkey for her?! I love Peter live...
Lizbot (host) 5:16:34 PM
@Readie - No shocking of monkeys that evening, the good kind or the bad
Lizbot (host) 5:17:03 PM
@Readie - But he did a collaboration with one of her apes she's studied years ago
DJ Readie 5:17:08 PM
I know, that would have been somewhat crass...
Stephen Bluhm 5:17:16 PM
oh funny to here I Go to Sleep. I first heard it on Cher's first album. If you go back and listen to There Was a Light I believe I took from it. It's not the same, I didn't steal it, but there's an obvious similarity.
DJ Readie 5:18:13 PM
@Lizbot- I just saw a documentary of Jane Goodall...fascinating...I hadn't heard of Sue Savage
Lizbot (host) 5:18:17 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Oh wow, I'll have to do a side-by-side comparison!
Stephen Bluhm 5:18:29 PM
Things in Hudson area are pretty good. I have a cold so I'm missing Wreckless Eric's show tonight which is sad, but I'm glad there's this radio show to cheer me up.
Stephen Bluhm 5:19:21 PM
Had fun meeting Lucy Wainwright Roche and Suzzy Roche Sunday at a show and giving them the album. I think they'll like it.
Stephen Bluhm 5:19:35 PM
Love them
Lizbot (host) 5:20:04 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Sorry you're under the weather. I have always wanted to see Wreckless Eric but the timing has never been right
Lizbot (host) 5:21:07 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - I saw that photo! Amazing! Absolute heroine, Suzzy! Amazing!
Lizbot (host) 5:21:32 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Been meaning to get in touch with you about official release. I have had a lot on my plate!
Stephen Bluhm 5:22:41 PM
Of course you do! We'll chat about it.
Catbird from Maryland 5:23:18 PM
@Lizbot, I'm in Maryland, not in your yard (at the moment). Plus, I'm getting ready to migrate
Catbird from Maryland 5:23:34 PM
*for points further south
Stephen Bluhm 5:24:03 PM
When your dad was missing I was trying to track down this psychic that helped my friend Sam. I thought it couldn't hurt. The psychic saved Sam's friend's life by telling Sam exactly where in the woods she was. They got to her just in time.
Stephen Bluhm 5:24:27 PM
But you posted he was found before I was able to ascertain the contact info.
Lizbot (host) 5:24:55 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Good! Remind me please if I don't message you in by Monday!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:36 PM
@Catbird from Maryland - Are you gonna join those flamingos?
Lizbot (host) 5:26:52 PM
((Gotta get in some Septembers songs before it's too late!))
Lizbot (host) 5:28:58 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Wow, that's a close call! We had three different tracking dogs and a helicopter in the 30+ hours he was wandering. The dogs work in shifts. The helicopter came out after it got dark. Ultimately, the SEPTA police found him. He had made it 14 miles all the way back to his childhood neighborhood - the Carroll Park/Haddington neighborhood of West Philly
Lizbot (host) 5:30:23 PM
@Readie - Jane is so much more famous, but Sue has been in the game for many decades as well. She has a wiki
DJ Readie 5:31:24 PM
Cool, Loz, I will check her out...and I am so glad your dad was found safe...what an odyssey!
DJ Readie 5:31:37 PM
Lizbot (host) 5:32:27 PM
@Readie - Call me Loz Enge from here on out
Lizbot (host) 5:32:39 PM
@Readie - ...or maybe only when I have a cold
DJ Readie 5:33:44 PM
@Liz - 😂😂😂 reminds of Pato's wordplay!
Catbird from Maryland 5:35:03 PM
@Lizbot, I'll find some coastal mangroves so I can scope out the flamingos
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:35:17 PM
Nice sets of musics. Thanks you.
Lizbot (host) 5:40:10 PM
This song predates the dumb book fifty shades of grey, but now that one line retroactively seems like a reference to it!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:21 PM
Thank you, Dá Bəng Gôu!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:47 PM
@Readie - Comparisons to Pato's wordplay is a very sweet compliment indeed!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:47 PM
@Catbird from Maryland - I saw some pretty sweet mangroves in LIttle Gasparilla Island in the Gulf Coast of Florida a few years ago - LOADS of herons of various kinds, including enormous Great Herons!
DJ Readie 5:44:31 PM
@Liz 🤗
Lizbot (host) 5:45:06 PM
@Readie - He was quick on the verbal draw
Lizbot (host) 5:45:51 PM
@Readie - Do you remember the Membership Drive show he co-hosted with Thomas during Worried Waltz in the relatively early days of the Drive? THey played off each other's dry wit
DJ Readie 5:46:44 PM
@Liz - yes, they were quite the pair! That was an epic drive show
Lizbot (host) 5:48:52 PM
@DJ Readie - Yes! One of the only ones I remember very distinctly from the early Drives
Lizbot (host) 5:50:15 PM
@Catbird from Maryland - Tell those flamingos I want a memoir of their epic journey
Richard from Rocky Hill 5:52:53 PM
@ Lizbot (host) Oh my ... "Stay Tuned" by Robert Wyatt is a genuine spooker ... and that's offered a major compliment! Thanks for all the awesome ... I mean, the doubleplusgood ... music you select for us, every show.
Lizbot (host) 5:56:28 PM
Hi Richard from Rocky Hill! I love that song so much! I'm glad you appreciate its spookiness! DevilPlusGhoul is almost upon us!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:29 PM
mmm, fretless bass gooey goodness
DJ Readie 5:59:48 PM
Mick Karn?
Lizbot (host) 5:59:58 PM
I love the descending detuned synth notes at the beginning of this song
Lizbot (host) 6:00:41 PM
@Readie - Yup! Love the MK!
DJ Readie 6:01:09 PM
This is sooo good!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:31 PM
@Readie - I can't hear Gary Numan without thinking about him cruising around the stage in his weird little car
Lizbot (host) 6:02:58 PM
is there any disruption in the broadcast? Just checking cuz something weird happened
DJ Readie 6:04:13 PM
FM sounds fine..
Lizbot (host) 6:04:45 PM
@Readie - good!
DJ Readie 6:05:01 PM
Yes, Liz, as does Peter G., Gary has ridden bizarre transportation around the stage...
Lizbot (host) 6:06:58 PM
@DJ Readie - haha, did you see Peter on his bicycle during Solsbury Hill? He didn't do that in the Philly show, but I saw it online. Impressive he can sing that well while cycling vigorously in a circle!! Gary cheats with that remote-controlled car! And he was a much younger man then
zeroo 6:07:20 PM
Hi everybody all the dj here **she's** this is SO COOL gary numan viiiibin woo
zeroo 6:07:34 PM
Lizbot (host) 6:08:07 PM
Hi zeroo! gary numan is a vibin' human
DJ Readie 6:08:50 PM
@Liz- oh yes - Peter on that little bike!! Remember it well! Peter's choreography, especially with Youssou N'Dour is bizarre and intricate and wonderful!
zeroo 6:09:52 PM
Swanox a recent band I like I think is inspired by him cuz sound similar
zeroo 6:10:19 PM
But 1981 wow cool
Lizbot (host) 6:10:21 PM
@Readie - He is a magical elf
Lizbot (host) 6:11:49 PM
@Readie - More PG coming up, in honor of his first album, i/o, of NEW songs in 21 years!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:00 PM
@Readie - PG next, actually
Lizbot (host) 6:12:33 PM
@zeroo - I gotta check out Swanox then! Sounds like they'd be up my alle
Lizbot (host) 6:12:47 PM
DJ Readie 6:13:19 PM
YES! i/o...
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:13:47 PM
Recently picked up the book On Minimalism: Documenting a Musical Movement because I realized I don't know anything about minimalism. I recommend the book.
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:14:02 PM
Meredith Monk made me think of it
DJ Readie 6:14:05 PM
Can't get enuff o' St. Petah
Lizbot (host) 6:14:05 PM
@Readie - haha, I really like i/o songs (he keeps releasing em one at a time on the full moon...SO dramatic!!) but I didn't bring any with me! I got some older stuff, some of which he played at Wells Fargo
DJ Readie 6:14:45 PM
Nice! saw your little vid on the socials...@Liz
Lizbot (host) 6:14:59 PM
"It's a very long way from Maryland"! That line is for the migrating catbird that is Rob from Maryland!
DJ Readie 6:15:32 PM
Full moon in about 12 hours!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:11 PM
@Readie - I more videos where that came from. Tony Levin on bass with PG and King Crimson and his Stickmen show in Ardmore recently - a concentrated dose of Levin!
DJ Readie 6:16:56 PM
Oh wow, Liz, love me some Tony Levin!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:59 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - oh wow! I love that stuff, but I'd like to read more about! Meredith Monk performed in Princeton a few years back. She is so cool
Catbird from Maryland 6:17:29 PM
@Lizbot, I am in talks with flamingos over their memoir. They are being held at Littel Gasparilla
Dennis Lingg 6:17:32 PM
Hey all! @stephen looking up that minimalism book. Sounds good.
Lizbot (host) 6:17:42 PM
@Readie - Tony did the looooow "in your eyes" line at the beginning of that song live and nailed it
Lizbot (host) 6:17:48 PM
Hi Dennis!
George Korein 6:18:14 PM
There should be a version of this about Richard Snowden
DJ Readie 6:18:21 PM
Oh, man- that gives me chills, Liz
Lizbot (host) 6:18:42 PM
@Catbird from Maryland - SOunds like those flamingos are hostages! Let those pink fellas go!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:33 PM
@George - hmmm, that snowden doc I saw at the film fest years ago should have used The Veil in the soundtrack...I don't really remember its soundtrack
Lizbot (host) 6:20:52 PM
@Dennis - Did you know the remastered Stop Making Sense is screening at Ambler Theater on Monday!
Catbird from Maryland 6:21:22 PM
@Lizbot, they just flew off
Lizbot (host) 6:22:00 PM
@Dennis - I saw it on the big screen when our WPRB Presents...film series showed it, with intro by Jon Solomon, years ago at Princeton Garden Theater, and Abbie from Mars and I danced in the aisles, but i"m overdue for a rewatch!

Catbird from Maryland 6:23:38 PM

Catbird from Maryland 6:24:02 PM
@Lizbot, yup. :-(
Dennis Lingg 6:24:51 PM
@liz we saw it on imax at Warrington. I kinda wish I had sat in the front row.
Mary Jones 6:25:54 PM
@Lizbot I have a funny story about seeing Stop Amkinf Sense in 2017 at Ambler—the guy behind us kept introducing each band member to his date—“There’s David Byrne. …There’s Tina Weymouth…. there’s Chris Franz”. I waited for him to say “There’s Jerry Harrison” but nothing! He was in the Modern Lovers, show some respect!
Mary Jones 6:26:49 PM
Maybe it was 2016, I don’t remember
Lizbot (host) 6:27:19 PM
@Dennis Lingg - nice. Jon did a stunt - he carried out a little boombox and silently placed it on the floor in front of the screen, a la David Byrne, for the into

Lizbot (host) 6:27:32 PM

Ossy 6:31:41 PM
Hi Space Lady Bot!
Lizbot (host) 6:32:10 PM
@Mary Jones - I listened to MVM 2010: The Year We Make Contact, which I've never seen, because i didn't intend to ever watch it since i expect it to be a disappointment, but you kinda sold me on it, as long as i don't compare it to 2001...but that's hard to do! ALso, I can't watch Keir Dullea and not think of "David & Lisa"! A pearl of a girl!
Lizbot (host) 6:32:14 PM
Ho Ossy!!
zeroo 6:32:17 PM
I'm trying to find an app or website preferably a website that will show me where the Moon is rising because it changes each night? Does it change drastically because I know where it was last night but I'm not seeing it yet

@Stephen Bluhm - So i heard he didn't quite finish it but he signed off on it going to production. I want to see it for sure
Lizbot (host) 6:53:11 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - oh nice! Which week in November are you seeing Merrily We Roll Along? I am seeing the matinee the Saturday after Thanksgiving
zerooo 6:53:23 PM
Oh I was wrong, the Moon is rising kinda where the sun rises for me tonight which is little east of where I was looking
Dennis Lingg 6:53:30 PM
Signing off, going to see It… the Clara Bow It girl movie.
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:54:12 PM
Yeah there was a good article in NYT on it yesterday. I wasn't interested at first. I thought it was maybe a Go Set a Watchman kind of situation. But then I saw the lady who played the original baker's wife on Instagram posting how excited she was to get her ticket and I realized Sondheim wasn't the only one working on the show so others must have signed off on it.
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:54:45 PM
I'm going Nov 8 and 9th
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:54:57 PM
Sorry to miss you!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:03 PM
@Dennis Lingg - lemme know what you think of it! Haven't seen it!
Stephen Bluhm (1) 6:55:44 PM
Also stoked for Degas/Manet at the Met
Lizbot (host) 6:58:00 PM
@zeroo - ah, I am in a windowless studio so I dunno what's going on out there, but I have a good view of the moon from my home studio some clear nights. I was just looking up what constitutes a "blue moon" yesterday because I was wondering about the origin of that "once in a blue moon" phrase, but I'm STILL confused!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:47 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - G, H & I will be in NYC two weekends in October plus Thanksgiving weekend, so I hope we'll fit in the degas / manet at the Met
Stephen Bluhm (1) 7:00:42 PM
I'll be there Oct 5 and 6 for the Nick Cave book talk with Sean O'Hagan and then seeing him at Kings Theater
Stephen Bluhm (1) 7:00:57 PM
rushing back up the morning of the 7th for a small show in Hudson
Lizbot (host) 7:01:44 PM
@zeroo - ooooh, we will be there at weekend for the New Yorker Fest! Seeing Jhumpa Lahiri cuz Hattie loves The Namesake
Lizbot (host) 7:03:37 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - We crammed a LOT of new yorker fest into that weekend: Sat: Ziwe and Aparna Nancherla with Emma Allen in the afternoon, then Japanese Breakfast, who Hattie likes, in the evening, then Jhumpa Lahiri with Ling ma and Cressida Leyshon on Sunday afternon
Stephen Bluhm (1) 7:04:22 PM
very cool! I'll overlap with you slightly
Lizbot (host) 7:06:25 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Maybe we'll bump into you whilst running to various venues!
DJ Readie 7:07:05 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:09:55 PM

Wow that mirror was a vibe I've seen her live like 15 or 20 years ago but it sounded like arrington a day Dionysus of old time religion playing guitar for her on that track

@zeroo - I've seen play in a tiny basement of the Ethical Society in Rittenhouse Square just after the release of her first album, then a few times at the First Unitarian Church, and so even in a friend's living room. She's great!

Ossy 7:20:36 PM
Cute laughter in the song
Zach McDevitt 7:20:58 PM
Absolutely loving the eclecticism in your show! Jens is one of my favorite modern songwriters. Wondering if you have room in the playlist for a request- would love to hear Gypsy by Suzanne Vega. No worries at all if you don't have time for it though- digging the tunes either way!
zerooo 7:21:14 PM
She may have open for modest mouse in Los Angeles can't remember I know Phil Elverum was at that one there but that was such a long time ago

Lizbot (host) 7:23:06 PM
@zeroo - ah, I'm sure lots of opportunities to see Mirah in Olympia. She comes back to Philly a lot since she grew up in Philly burbs and has friends there. Her sister Emily was still living in Philly last i heard, but it's been a while. I loved the show she did with Khaela Maricich of The Blow-
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:23:20 PM

@Ossy - That small voice at the very end of Maple Leaves was Jane Horrocks from the movie "Little Voice" - When he played his records, his sparkled, not like you, but with bright light
zerooo 7:24:47 PM
There was even an event at a farm I'm trying to remember what it was called but we slept in a tent and when I arrived this kid walked up and put a wreath of leaves on my head it was the strangest experience
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:25:18 PM
I was on a farm once too.
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:25:29 PM
Lizbot (host) 7:25:46 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:39:26 PM
Hi Pethie! Thanks! Was in a autumnal mood
Lizbot (host) 7:40:53 PM

richard lyons:) 7:41:29 PM
Hi Pethie!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:34 PM
