Ame Debout Philips 1971
French experimental progressive group that existed 1970-1980, rooted in the short-lived 1969 outfit Catherine Ribeiro + 2Bis. Fronted by Portuguese born female singer Catherine Ribeiro, Alpes was the multi-instrumental backing group led by Patrice Moullet and a roster of other musicians that changed over the years. Their music cross-bred folk and psychedelic musics, with avant-garde and space-rock elements, and often featured special home-made instruments like the Cosmophone (a guitar/lyre hybrid), Percuphone (a mechanical rhythm machine), Orgolia (a large metallic violin) and other inventions.

Hello Hello! It's good to be back on this rainy Thursday!
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:02:59 PM
I'm chitting in the chat.
Lizbot (host) 5:03:39 PM
Hello there, Dá Bəng Gôu!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:18 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - Chattering here in the chilly weather
Travis (Sur Tizzle) 5:04:22 PM
A regular chitty cathy?
Lizbot (host) 5:04:41 PM
Hi Travis (Sur Tizzle)!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:09 PM
@Travis (Sur Tizzle) - A Chatty Chitty (-Chitty Bang-Bang)
Travis (Sur Tizzle) 5:06:26 PM
For sure
Lizbot (host) 5:06:59 PM
I'm rejuvenated from a beach excursion last week, but was not expecting Long Beach Island to be invaded by famous peoples
Number 6 5:07:07 PM
Greetings and salutations!
Parrscream 5:07:16 PM
Hey Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:23 PM
Hi Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:34 PM
Hi Parrscream!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:53 PM
@Number 6 - I hope you're accustomed to Eastern Standard Time these days
Travis (Sur Tizzle) 5:08:00 PM
Oh yeah? What kind of famous peeps?
Lizbot (host) 5:08:08 PM
I scream, Parrscream, we all scream
Parrscream 5:08:30 PM
How are you Liz? What famous peoples did you see in Long Beach? Sorry if you said it on the air... my volume is low right now because I'm still in a work meeting.
Number 6 5:08:46 PM
@Lizbot- Finally back on track!
Parrscream 5:08:54 PM
*Long Beach ISLAND... sorry
Parrscream 5:10:44 PM
We all scream for Parrscream's Ice Cream?
Lizbot (host) 5:12:13 PM
@Travis (Sur Tizzle) - Channing Tatum, Taylor Swift, Zoe KravItz, Andie MacDowell, et.al. Jack Antonoff (of the band fun. and Bleachers) was getting married to Andie MacDowell's daughter, Margaret Qualley, in Beach Haven last weekend and those were just some of their famous guests, so it was a mob scene. I was taking my niece to Fantasy Island amusement park in Beach Haven during their rehearsal dinner at Black Whale and it was madness
Lizbot (host) 5:12:57 PM
@Number 6 - Glad to hear it!
Lizbot (host) 5:13:20 PM
@Parrscream - I didn't say it on air and I probably won't...maybe
Lizbot (host) 5:13:57 PM
@Parrscream - I'm good! How are you? I am happy to have made it down the shore, but in denial about summer winding down
Number 6 5:15:44 PM
Lizbot rubs elbows with the rich & famous!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:13 PM
@Number 6 - haha, welp whether I wanted to or not (I was indifferent), I saw Taylor Swift and Channing Tatum going down Bay Ave in Beach Haven Friday night
Lizbot (host) 5:17:22 PM
The teen mob was DEAFENING
Number 6 5:17:48 PM
I can imagine!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:46 PM
@Number 6 - There were other famous people, but everything was drowned out by the presence of Taylor Swift, whose army of "Swifties" descended like locusts on the tiny town!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:18 PM
@Parrscream - I'll have some rocky road, please!
Number 6 5:20:05 PM
Did you get any pix?
Parrscream 5:20:28 PM
@Liz - SAME about summer! This weekend will be the first time since June that we haven't been down the shore... and we only have one more trip down on Labor Day. Then it turns to school, kids sports/activities and pumpkins.
Lizbot (host) 5:21:30 PM
@Number 6 - Just of me and my niece and daughter! I wasn't interested in edging my way farther into that crowd!
Number 6 5:22:03 PM
I can't blame you.
Lizbot (host) 5:22:17 PM
@Number 6 - They closed the amusement park an hour early Friday night, I think so the wedding guests could ride the rides unperturbed
Space Cowboy 5:22:51 PM
Holy tap dancing Christ this is fantastic
Lizbot (host) 5:23:46 PM
@Parrscream - Yeah, I'm NOT ready for Back to School!, especially since my daughter is starting HIGH SCHOOL and she is nervous!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:06 PM
Hi Space Cowboy - I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:17 PM
@Parrscream - We have one more brief trip, down to Cape May for just one night on Labor Day weekend, but my kid is so nervous about high school orientation the next day, she'll probably make me leave the shore early!
Space Cowboy 5:26:16 PM
We're blood is incredible
Lizbot (host) 5:28:20 PM
@Space Cowboy - She's from the area, Natalie, AKA Weyes Blood (name from the Flannery O'Connor book Wise Blood) She grew up in Doylestown and was in my husband's friend and old roommate's band, Satanized when she lived in Philly in her 20s
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:29:29 PM
I got Satanized in Utica once.
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:29:54 PM
Young pup. Didn't know any better.
Lizbot (host) 5:30:33 PM
@Space Cowboy - I love her Titanic Rising album best, but all her work is really good. i gave away tickets on Doubleplusgood for her most recent Philly show, part of her tour for her latest album, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow
Lizbot (host) 5:30:49 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - haha!
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:37:27 PM
Great Set !! Thanks you for the musics.
DSM 5:42:01 PM
Enjoying the mellow set tonight Lizbot. And yay on saving little turtle friend, that's great!
DSM 5:43:26 PM
omg english teacher get a clue lol, did they want you all to O'Captain them at the end of the year? That's earned, not forced teach!
Lizbot (host) 5:45:37 PM
Hello DSM!
Lizbot (host) 5:45:56 PM
@DSM - Rainy mellow day brings out this kinda show in me
Lizbot (host) 5:47:37 PM
@DSM - I have a LOT of stories about that English teacher. He had a very high opinion of himself, so much so, he decided at one point he didn't need to keep coming to class and used to skip it regularly, relying on his devoted students to not tell on him. He also told us he was "descended from Czars" haha
Space Cowboy 5:47:42 PM
Stupid auto correct I meant weyes blood .... Man I would have gone to that show that was epic
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:49:22 PM
Hi everyone!
Lizbot (host) 5:49:31 PM
@Space Cowboy - She's a great performer! I have seen her perform in West Philly and South Philly basements, and on the roof of a double-decker bus!
Lizbot (host) 5:49:35 PM
Hi Addie!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:28 PM
@Addie - Howzit going? Last I was here, (two weeks ago,) I think you were still just getting over covid. I hope the rest of your summer has been decidedly better!
Michael McCool 5:51:40 PM
Great set… is this list saveable?
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 5:52:59 PM
@lizbot, things are going much better! I started a new job in an old clinic and I’m really happy how it’s going so far.
Lizbot (host) 5:53:43 PM
Hi Michael McCool - Thanks! The list will be up online indefinitely, but I'm not recording the show right now, unfortunately, so no way to listen back again later
Lizbot (host) 5:54:45 PM
@Addie - I'm so glad to hear that! SOunds like a much better situation all around!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:33 PM
@Michael McCool - I used to record my show with the plan to later upload it online onto MixCloud, but I don't have a good way to do that in the current studio set-up and MixCloud started charging
Parrscream 5:57:02 PM
@Liz - I love Cape May. That's where I got married. Aw, your kid will be fine! But understandably nervous. My son starts high school the Wednesday after Labor Day. He seems to be dealing with it fine, for now.
Number 6 5:58:37 PM
@Lizbot- I think that you can still upload 10 shows for free on Mixcloud.
Lizbot (host) 6:03:00 PM
@Parrscream - Same for mine! Tuesday the 5th is some sort of "in-school retreat"/get to know each other thing, and Wednesday the 6th is orientation! She just wants orienttion and classes to start on the 6th and to skip that first day of games to get to know other students!
Lizbot (host) 6:03:18 PM
@Number 6 - I heard something like that. Have to look into it
Lizbot (host) 6:06:31 PM
@Parrscream - This is the 2nd Labor Day weekend we've gone down to Cape May with my parents and last time there was a rowdy neighbor who took their kids on a golfcart joyride through the shared alleyway, so I'm expecting further shenanigans from them this year
Lizbot (host) 6:07:03 PM
@Parrscream - I love that Cape May has changing rooms and restrooms on the beach. I don't love trying to find parking there!
Parrscream 6:08:58 PM
@Liz - Ha ha! Sounds like a wild time... Usuallu Cape May is more subdued. Expect that kind of stuff in Wildwood (where my parents live by the way)... Also, I don't blame her for wanting to skip that "Get to know you" day. I would wanna skip it to, ha ha
Space Cowboy 6:09:35 PM
Yeah cape may needs to figure out their parking....... But sunset at the point is epic
Number 6 6:10:40 PM
They used to have a train that went down there, but they did away with that long ago.
Lizbot (host) 6:13:46 PM
@Parrscream - Yeah, I hate that stuff too! Let 'em have another day of summer, or just jump right into orientation!
Lizbot (host) 6:15:02 PM
@Space Cowboy - Truth. And of course I am there on Labor Day weekend, so it is particularly packed. I'm jealous of the hotels along the water with parking lots, but we're in a little cabin-type place a bit removed from the downtown or the beach
Wes Steenson 6:15:51 PM
Memory - my wife and I walked our daughter down the aisle to the extended ending of The Only Living Boy in New York. (The “here I am” part) ♥️
Lizbot (host) 6:16:45 PM
@Number 6 - There was a train to LBI too! I've been audio-booking "Close to Shore," a book about the 1916 New Jersey shark attacks, and they talk about how big a deal that train was in massively boosting Jersey shore tourism!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:53 PM
Hi Wes Steenson!
Lizbot (host) 6:17:18 PM
@Wes - I feel like you would particularly appreciate this Liam Grant piece on now
Lizbot (host) 6:19:02 PM
@Number 6 - My sister-in-law lived in the house across the street from the Charles VanSant house on Spruce St in West Philly many years ago. He was the first recorded shark attack victim that summer, and it happened in Beach Haven, LBI!
Number 6 6:20:04 PM
North Jersey has all of the perks. South Jersey is kind of forgotten. Shark attack, yikes!
Lizbot (host) 6:20:25 PM
@Parrscream - Haha, Wildwood is a little too crazy for me these days! That's where my classmate in high school got in a drunk accident and lost her spleen! We did head to the boardwalk in Seaside Heights for a bit of excitement last summer for just one night, and then returned to LBI
Lizbot (host) 6:21:45 PM
@Parrscream - Cape May is a gorgeous place to get married. I occasionally encounter beach weddings in front of Barnegat Light in LBI. Once, we climbed to the top of the lighthouse and watched a wedding from above. Felt like we were crashing it. but we were quiet!
Lizbot (host) 6:22:23 PM
@Wes Steenson - Oh wow! That's a great choice for a wedding aisle song! I never heard of anyone using that one before
Lizbot (host) 6:23:29 PM
@Number 6 - The summer of 1916 that rogue great white cruised all up and down the Jersey coast chomping North and South Jersey swimmers alike, (though mostly Central and North Jersey!)
Parrscream 6:25:40 PM
@Liz - Ha ha! We had all sorts of people crash our Cocktail Hour because the room where we had it (it was supposed to be outdoors but it rained) is a Public bar/restaurant. It was actually fun with all of the strangers congratulating us.
Lizbot (host) 6:25:54 PM
@Number 6 - Read or audiobook "Close to Shore" by Michael Capuzzo - Lots of related Jersey and Philly history in there, not just the attacks
Lizbot (host) 6:26:19 PM
@Number 6 - The farthest south attack was in Beach Haven
Lizbot (host) 6:27:45 PM
@Parrscream - haha, mine was in a public Arboretum!

Lizbot (host) 6:35:06 PM
Hi Brian D! Cup o' noodles > Cup o' Pizza
Lizbot (host) 6:36:49 PM
@Parrscream - Our actual ceremony was supposed to be in the rose garden of Morris Arboretum, but it poured just before it was supposed to start, so we rushed to the reception tent, November Rain-style
Brian D 6:39:32 PM
Helen Crump's Onion Pie from Aunt Bee's Mayberry Cookbook
Lizbot (host) 6:39:33 PM
@Parrscream - When in Ireland in August 2019, the hotel we were staying in Donegal had a rowdy wedding reception going on in the bar by the lobby as we checked in and it so happened I share a surname with the groom, so the people at the front desk assumed we were guests at the wedding, and before I could stop myself, I corrected them! Couldve gotten some drinks at the open bar. but wouldve felt guilty...until the reception kept me up ALL night and I was a wreck for my tours the next day!
Lizbot (host) 6:40:52 PM
mmm, tea
Lizbot (host) 6:43:37 PM
@Brian D - onion pie sounds good, but i take yr onion pie and raise you a VINEGAR pie, a REAL thing my husband's aunt makes every year for Thanksgiving!

Lizbot (host) 6:46:21 PM
@Addie - Same! Me & my brother used to jump on the bed in a hyper fervor to Bungle In the Jungle as kids. And once I listened to Thick As a Bricks parts one AND two in the WORST traffic jam I've ever encountered in the Lincoln Tunnel!
Lizbot (host) 6:48:14 PM
@Addie - I still have no gotten over missing Jethro Tull around 2007/8 when George bought us a pair of tickets as my christmas gift and it was still the days of physical tickets sent in the mail as the primary option and we misplaced them just before the show, turned the living upside looking for them, and never found them! I was SURE they'd turn up months or years later, but NOPE.
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:55:59 PM
Oh my gosh, what an epic disappointment!!
Lizbot (host) 6:57:08 PM
@Addie - SUCH a bummer. Ian Anderson was still a somewhat spry Puck figure at that time

Lizbot (host) 6:58:17 PM

Number 6 7:00:13 PM
@Lizbot- That happened to me one time. We were supposed to see a boxing card at MSG, but the tickets disappeared, never to be found.:(
Lizbot (host) 7:00:53 PM
@Addie - What really bothers me, aside from the main bummer of missing the show, is that those tickets NEVER turned up. It kind of drives me nuts. They were sent to us. I held them in my hands. I put them in a coffee table drawer and they yeeted into another dimension
Lizbot (host) 7:01:29 PM
@Addie - I'm glad the show is helping you unwind!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:42 PM
@Brian D - SOUND the SPACE LADY alarm!
Brian D 7:01:43 PM
Martin Barre seems to play up the street at the Sellersville Theater once or twice a year. Shame those 2 can't get along. Really important part of the band for my ears
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:02:00 PM
Obviously gnomes were sent to steal those tickets. His forest minions.
Number 6 7:02:17 PM
The Space Lady has a nice cult following.
Lizbot (host) 7:02:37 PM
@Number 6 -SO frustrating!!!! Can't help imaging bizarre scenarios to explain their disappearance!
Number 6 7:03:07 PM
Those tickets must have ended up with my boxing tickets.
Lizbot (host) 7:03:18 PM
@Brian D - I noticed that! He must live nearby? I used to think it was weird how often Renaissance played the Keswick, until I found out Annie Haslam is local
Brian D 7:03:23 PM
The stage patter on J Tull "Bursting Out" live lp is really good stuff. That lp in the car for a drive in fall or spring (or anytime really) just hits right. A rare occasion of the lead singer being censored on his own album not by radio....
Brian D 7:04:04 PM
Martin Barre did not invent the barre chord but let's keep telling people that he did it's fun
Number 6 7:04:08 PM
@Lizbot- The aliens must have gotten them.

Commie Francis 7:11:00 PM
i wish i had gone to see her on her last (probably final?) tour!!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:20 PM
@Brian D - haha, I have to bust out Bursting Out on my car stereo and hear the drama unfold! Can't be as crazy as the drama of Mark E Smith scolding the rest of The Fall, or basically every Brian Jonestown Massacre show I've seen...
Lizbot (host) 7:11:30 PM
@Brian D- ...or CAN it?!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:55 PM
Hi Commie! I remember when she played PhilaMOCA!
Lizbot (host) 7:12:39 PM
Hi Solid as a Mok! Yes! At Ardmore Music Hall! I had tickets for that show and then couldn't make it at the last minute! Now MM are stuck in the U.S. last I checked!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:00 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:14:34 PM
@Commie - You're subbing for Pethie after me tonight, right?
Lizbot (host) 7:15:16 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:17:41 PM
@Number 6 - haha, I STILL have it. It's an early 60s indestructible BEAST
Lizbot (host) 7:18:30 PM

@Number 6 - Reminds me of that Czech horror folktale, Little Otik, about a treestump child who devours everything in its path but its adoptive human parents love it too much to put a stop to it. Maybe it's some I sledgehammer (to Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer") that coffee table and release the ghosts of those Jethro Tull tickets
Number 6 7:23:47 PM
LOL!
Rob from Maryland 7:25:53 PM
Hello Lizbot and everyone! I'm listening to this show when I can but other things are going on too
Lizbot (host) 7:26:25 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland!
Solid as a Mok 7:26:41 PM
hmm I think im going down to AC to see C.O.F.F.I.N. Hard to resist that show
Lizbot (host) 7:27:42 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Glad you could tune in. I spotted a lot of excellent birds during my time in LBI last week. Loads of snowy egrets and some ospreys over Barnegat Bay, as usual, But ALSO something new to me: ruddy turnstones on the jetty at Barnegat Light
Lizbot (host) 7:28:34 PM
Saw Laraaji perform in the Pine Barrens at Whitesbog Village years ago, and again along the Delaware River, both on magical nights
Brian D 7:28:39 PM
Laraaji!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:01 PM
@Solid as a Mok - Nice! Sounds like a good AC adventure
Rob from Maryland 7:30:48 PM
@Lizbot, turnstones are neat birds. I really need to hit the coast this year so that I can see them.
Rob from Maryland 7:31:42 PM
@Lizbot, I was telling someone about your catbirds. She had catbirds that wait for her to toss them grubs while she's gardening. Are your catbirds still harassing you?
Lizbot (host) 7:32:40 PM
@Rob from Maryland - First off, re: turnstones - Cool markings on their plumage, and I appreciate their funny faces!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:54 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Secondly, funny you should mention Mr. Catbird - I KIND OF miss him, but he was scared outta my yard by a solid month of much-needed but very loud and disruptive roof repairs! Had all the roof tile replaced
Lizbot (host) 7:34:29 PM
@Rob from Maryland - i am kind of hoping catbird isn't scared off for good. As annoying as that bird is, it doesn't feel like summer in my yard without it!
TAndy 7:36:51 PM
Meow.
Rob from Maryland 7:37:16 PM
@Lizbot, yikes, a solid month of roof repairs! Hopefully the catbird will return before it flies south for the winter
Lizbot (host) 7:37:45 PM
Good [Night-] Morning, TAndy!
Lizbot (host) 7:38:25 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I just hope it at least returns next summer to nest and isn't permanently scared off from my yard!
Lizbot (host) 7:39:05 PM
@TAndy - Meow Mae-ybe
TAndy 7:40:05 PM
Good evening :) catbirds and killdeer have my favorite sounding bird calls
stevie p 7:42:52 PM
Hi Lizbot & my PRB chatpals!
Lizbot (host) 7:43:24 PM
Hi stevie P!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:56 PM
@TAndy - Catbirds drive me up the wall cuz they sound more like squeaky toys than cats to me, but I'd miss the one who nests in my yard every summer were it to choose a new spot!
TAndy 7:45:43 PM
And that's exactly why I love them! They sound like squeaky bat toys, they sound completely silly
Lizbot (host) 7:45:44 PM
@TAndy - I'd have to listen to a killdeer call. I've probably heard them but can't identify it (bad birder, I know)
Lizbot (host) 7:47:15 PM
@TAndy - And they're BOLD. I respect that. This one is 100% UNafraid of me and will tell me off every chance it gets. As far as its concerned, the entire yard is its domain and any where i go in the yard, even on the deck, is too close to its nest. so it will land on the railing 2 feet from my face and squeak angrily at me for hoooours
Lizbot (host) 7:47:47 PM
@TAndy - The sounds of summer : broken squeaky toy bird, cicadas, mowers and motorcycles
TAndy 7:48:14 PM
🥰 aww dummy likes to scream
TAndy 7:48:54 PM
The only bird I've ever been annoyed by were the few sparrows who wouldn't shut up hanging out in the tree outside my front door sometimes
Lizbot (host) 7:49:06 PM
@TAndy - ha! It's also so drab-looking but I love the jaunty angle at which it holds it tail!
stevie p 7:51:40 PM
The ringtone on my phone is a Nightingale bird call.
stevie p 7:52:19 PM
It definitely gets my attention. My cat's attention too!
stevie p 7:53:24 PM
This year, my trees are mourining dove free.
stevie p 7:53:56 PM
In previous years, they'd start hoo-dee-hooing while it was still dark. And keep it up all day long.
Lizbot (host) 7:54:01 PM
@stevie p - nice! I had a cat that was a terrible hunter, and very clumsy, but had a true talent for mimicking bird calls
Rob from Maryland 7:54:21 PM
Oh yeah Killdeer! I heard and saw three today, fairly close until the flew away while calling
stevie p 7:54:22 PM
hoo-dee-hoo hoo hoo
stevie p 7:55:26 PM
my current kitty is one my son brought home when he and his college pals moved out of their apartment in north philly near temple.
stevie p 7:55:54 PM
she's an indoor cat, perfectly happy to observe the birds through the window
Rob from Maryland 7:55:57 PM
I enjoyed what I heard of you show, @Lizbot, and am happy to hear that Charlotte Gainsbourg song again
TAndy 7:56:19 PM
Thank you for the show DJ Lizbot!!
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:56:49 PM
Thank you for the great musics.
Lizbot (host) 7:56:57 PM
@stevie p - every year i had a pair of mourning doves who nested in the bush next to my door and their fledglings always perched awkwardly on my stair railing. The parents would flutter while complaining to the tree on the other side of my car every time i came in or out the door. BUT last year they for some unknown reason decided to nest in the very bad spot of the CURVED downward ledge over my back door, and their nest and its eggs met their end sliding off it, despite my efforts to buoy it up
stevie p 7:57:15 PM
Great show, what I heard, tuning late after work. Thanks Lizbot.
Number 6 7:57:42 PM
Thanks for more great music. BCNU!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:08 PM
@stevie p - ...so i thought SURELY they'd return to their OLD spot in the bush this year, but NOPE - the curved ledge AGAIN and the eggs crashed on to the landing AGAIN. But now I realize WHY they relocated - there is now a cardinal couple who has taken over that bush by the door
Rob from Maryland 7:59:16 PM
Mourning Doves are not the brightest birds. :-(
George Korein 8:00:07 PM
Broom oh!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:11 PM
@Rob from Maryland - That has become abundantly clear
Lizbot (host) 8:00:22 PM
Hello Jorge Alvarez George
Lizbot (host) 8:00:31 PM
