@ Misty (host) I think "Agua De Beber," which is Brazilian and in Portugese, definitely qualifies as Bosa Nova. Some years ago, I saw/heard wonderful Brazilian singer Luciana Souza at McCarter. She did this song and intro'd it by explaining that in English the title is "The Waters of March." But because Brazil is largely in the southern hemisphere, March is not Spring like for us but it's their Autumn. So the references (like a car getting stuck in the mud) are from Fall rains.

@ Misty (host) One other pedantic ... oops! ... I mean, educational riff ... LOL ... You're correct, Don Draper and the other Mad Men characters are immediately pre-Baby Boomer, which were the children born in the post-World War 2 population expansion (about 1946 to 1950s. The Drapers probably made a lot of "Boomers."

@ Misty (host) Yes, I believe "Bosa Nova" means "New Dance" in Portugese, and it was widely applied to Brazilian music with a gentle but insistent and romantic swaying beat.

@ Misty (host) I can't understand why some rock historians/critics claim that Big Brother & The Holding Company was an inferior ensemble and that Janis Joplin's talent was liberated when she left the groupo and went solo. Big Brother is a KILLER band, as their classic live tracks -- such as, here, "Piece of my Heart" and also especially "Combination of the Two" -- amply prove.
