Richard from Rocky Hill 3:28:49 PM
@ dea (host) Please tell Truculent how much I'm enjoying his live set. Especially the retunings to open chords. Wow!
Richard from Rocky Hill 3:31:24 PM
It's like Leo Kotke and John Fahey have materialized into the WPRB studios! Ahhhh....
Rob from Maryland 3:34:05 PM
@Richard @ 3:31, yes!
Richard from Rocky Hill 3:39:25 PM
@ Rob from Maryland And Truculent just said his new album is available ON CASSETTE ONLY ???!!! That is beyond cool ... I gotta boom box with a cassette deck. so I just gotta get it ... :-))
Rob from Maryland 3:42:09 PM
@ Richard, bummer. Our entire stereo system has been disconnected for years. I listen to CDs in the car, and of course stations like WPRB online
Rob from Maryland 3:46:15 PM
*but that is pretty cool that it's cassette-only!
CJ 3:48:35 PM
Yo yo yo
CJ 3:48:38 PM
I am back
CJ 3:48:49 PM
Hope everyone enjoyed the guest set!
Richard from Rocky Hill 3:52:09 PM
@ Rob from Maryland Well, here's some semi-good news. Check out the strangemono.com page on Bandcamp. The cassette of Truculent's new album A Worker's Guide to Transfiguration is a limited edition (I'm gonna grab mine!). But there's also a digital download ... AND ... there's a mega-sample CD of strangemono artists for a base donation of $29.40 or more.
Richard from Rocky Hill 3:55:49 PM
@ CJ The guest set was genuinely awesome. Please pass along our kudos to Truculent. Being an old folkie starting in the 1960s, I've always adored finger-picked open-tuning acoustic guitar. This was stellar, thanks.
CJ 4:03:33 PM
Will do Richard! Thanks for tuning in!
CJ 4:06:58 PM
Good to hear y'all really liked that set! Just had some people call in to say how much they liked Truculent
CJ 4:07:45 PM
Hoping to have more live acts like them on this summer! (And maybe will get recordings up on YouTube as well)
Rob from Maryland 4:08:42 PM
@ Richard from Rocky Hill Thanks, I'll go look at that!
Rob from Maryland 4:09:18 PM
@ CJ, I certainly enjoyed it. And I liked the King Gizzard piece too
Rob from Maryland 4:09:49 PM
Trucculent was great!
Richard from Rocky Hill 5:42:12 PM
@ CJ I liked Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats' "Dead Eyes of London." That was the title of a cheapy but creepy 1939 Bela Lugosi movie based on a novel by British mystery writer Edgar Wallace (who went to Hollywood and wrote the first draft script for what became King Kong). It would be way cool if the Wallace tale (about an insurance scam and murders hid behind an otherwise legit charity for the visually impaired) inspired the Uncle Acid song. I just bought a download, I'll cue in on the lyrics ...
CJ 5:50:07 PM
Sounds like you're right about that! Didn't know it was a movie title, but looks like the lyrics match up with that synopsis
CJ 5:50:53 PM
There was a ring of blind men/ Sent by the reverend to kill/ Wealthy old pigs feasting on swill/ Inside the mouth of madness/ The killer creeps into view/ A shadow cast in torment/ Coming for you/
CJ 5:59:52 PM
Thanks for tuning in y'all! Hope you guys stay safe and tune in next week for another adventure here on Follow the Train!
