This ensemble, led by violinist V. V. Subramaniam, includes T. Sankaran on flute, Ramakrishna Naidu on clarinet, T. K. Murthy on mridangam, and C. K. Shyam Sunder on kanjeera.

V. V. Subramaniam frequently accompanied M. S. Subbulakshmi.

Vasant Rai (1931-1985) was a sarod player from Unjha, Gujarat. He studied under Allauddin Khan. He was based in New York, but his promising career was cut short by his early death.

Madurai Mani Iyer (25 October 1912 – 8 June 1968) was a disciple at the Shri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Vidyalayam, a music school at Madurai founded by Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavatar.

Ram Narayan was born in Mewar, near Udaipur on 25 December 1927. The sarangi had been limited to being an accompanying instrument for vocalists, but Narayan showed his own talent and came to the foreground. Singers complained that he was too assertive. He popularized the bowed instrument sarangi as a solo concert instrument in Hindustani classical music, beginning his solo career in 1956.

S. Balachander (18 January 1927 - 13 April 1990) was a veena player, actor and filmmaker.

Lakshmi Shankar (née Sastri, 16 June 1926 – 30 December 2013) was a noted Hindustani classical vocalist, specializing in light classical and devotional music (thumri & bhajan). Although born into a south Indian family, she became an outstanding Hindustani vocalist of the Patiala Gharana and married Rajendra Shankar, brother of Uday and Ravi Shankar. She was also the mother-in-law of L. Subramaniam (through his fist wife, Viji), who accompanies her on this recording.

The Bombay Sisters, C. Saroja (b. 7 December 1936) and C. Lalitha (26 August 1938 - 31 January 2023), were a Carnatic music singing duo. from Trichur, Kerala. They had their musical training with H. A. S. Mani, Musiri Subramania Iyer and T. K. Govinda Rao. Since they were groomed in Carnatic Music in Mumbai, they were referred to as the "Bombay Sisters".

Kankana Banerjee (born 19 April 1946) is an Indian Classical singer who trained under the tutelage of Amir Khan in Lucknow (Indore gharana).

Madras Lalitangi Vasanthakumari (popularly referred to as MLV) (3 July 1928 – 31 October 1990), was a contemporary of D.K. Pattammal and M.S. Subbulakshmi, was a prime disciple of G.N. Balasubramaniam.

U. Srinivas (28 February 1969 - 19 September 2014) was a child prodigy. He was the first musician to use the electric mandolin in Carnatic music. He modified the electric western instrument, using five single strings instead of the traditional four doubled strings to suit the Carnatic pitch, raga system, and especially "gamakas", or nuanced oscillations. He developing a phenomenal style of playing entirely his own, and astonishingly, on an instrument that had never been played in the rigorous and difficult Carnatic style before.

This was recorded early in his career, when he was about 15 years old.

Singh Bandhu is an Indian musical duo composed of brothers Tejpal Singh (b 1937) and Surinder Singh (b 1940), exponents of Hindustani classical music and Sikh music (shabad kirtan). They earned their Masters in music from Allahabad University, and studied under Amir Khan of the Indore Gharana.
