Shockheaded Peter (Soundtrack from the Musical) NVC Arts 1998
Musical based on the 1845 German children's book of cruel cautionary tales, Der Struwwelpeter, by Heinrich Hoffmann. It comprises ten illustrated and rhymed stories, mostly about children. Each has a clear moral that demonstrates the disastrous consequences of misbehavior in an exaggerated way. It is considered a precursor to comic books and is one of the earliest books for children that combines visual and verbal narratives in a book format

New Summer Schedule TODAY! NEW SPARKS ALBUM!
Number 6 5:05:35 PM
Greetings, not looking forward to the heat, though.
iamthelabhras 5:05:57 PM
Lizbot you told *me* your favorite band was Hootie & the Blowfish. Why would you lie to me?
Lizbot (host) 5:06:57 PM
Hi Number 6! Happy June!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:21 PM
Hi iamthelabhras - HAR HARdee HAR!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:43 PM
@iamthelabhras - Sounds like the beginnings of a conspiracy! That was the OTHER Lizbot!

Lizbot (host) 5:10:19 PM
Hi Jimbooooooo - Whoops ALL the suckers!
Number 6 5:12:30 PM
I'm debating whether I should turn on the a/c today, or try and hold out until tomorrow.
Lizbot (host) 5:13:37 PM
@Jimboo - Not ONLY Is this a TRULY GREAT Sparks album, it also does NOT skimp on the number of songs: 14!! None of throw-aways in the least!
George Korein 5:15:24 PM
Sparkly!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:34 PM
@Number 6 - Tomorrow is gonna be a doozy, today hasn't been TOO bad, but I did turn on the AC today. My poor plants are withering from lack of rain, and I really meant to give them a drink today, but no time before I left for Princeton! Gonna do when I get home,..night watering or wait 'til tomorrow morning...
Lizbot (host) 5:15:41 PM
Gu George - Triue!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:48 PM
@George - I leave the weird typos
George Korein 5:16:25 PM
I would never doubt your commitment to Sparksle motion
Number 6 5:17:19 PM
I wonder if I could camp out at the Barge, temp is always set at 72.

Lizbot (host) 5:19:49 PM
@Number 6 - The weather is always fine in the Barge!
iamthelabhras 5:20:20 PM
Can I make a request?
Andrew G 5:20:25 PM
well, my kids already love sparks. my wife's the one that needed convincing
iamthelabhras 5:20:45 PM
I would like to hear Hootie & The Blowfish, "Let Her Cry" please.
Number 6 5:21:26 PM
@Lizbot- They didn't even get that fainting couch in there yet!:)
Lizbot (host) 5:23:57 PM
I love that this song takes a night out dancing VERY seriously. It is a serious. This is my serious face!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:11 PM
@iamthelabhras - Go ahead!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:20 PM
@iamthelabhras - Oh boy, you are salty today! I will let you cry in your latte while you hear more SPARKS
Lizbot (host) 5:26:07 PM
@Andrew G - Nice! I wish I could bring my kid but she'll be at sleepaway camp! Would be a perfect tour for Baby's First Sparks Show!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:40 PM
@Number 6 - haha, if there was ANY sorta couch in this studio we wouldn't be able to fit a studio!
Number 6 5:28:09 PM
I guess we're lucky to even have that folding chair in there,
Lizbot (host) 5:28:57 PM
@Andrew G - Thankfully my husband likes Sparks and has seen them with me before, and my kid does actually request some Sparks songs, though I need to expand her Sparks knowledge
iamthelabhras 5:31:04 PM
NEON LIGHTS
Lizbot (host) 5:40:39 PM
"It's sunny today. Let's hop in your Ford and go to the shore" Ron Mael, you read my thoughts!
Lizbot (host) 5:41:22 PM
@Number 6 - True! I think of it as the guest chair/backup chair if anything ever happens to this sweet swivel chair I'm currently enjoying
Lizbot (host) 5:43:07 PM
@iamthelabhras - I wasn't gonna play Neon Lights today, that was a last-minute decision because I really like the segue between Ultravox's Thin Wall into NL
Lizbot (host) 5:44:02 PM
@Number 6 - The old main studio sofa always reminded me of ground beef grease. That's how I can best describe its color. Good for masking stains...like beef grease stains
iamthelabhras 5:45:08 PM
Your playlist instincts are, as always, accurate down to the nanometer Lizbot.
Lizbot (host) 5:45:54 PM
Why thank you, iamthelabhras! No Hootie for miles around...except for actual hoot-owls
iamthelabhras 5:48:22 PM
Pity Lizbot. But the world is a strange & imperfect place. Also...I'm thinking I'll look into getting Hootie to do a personalized Cameo message for you this WPRBXmas.
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:49:25 PM
Hi Lizbot, Thanks for a great show!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:11 PM
@iamthelabhras - Oh boy...I can't say I am not curious but the thought hurts my brain...ack, MALFUNCTION
Lizbot (host) 5:50:24 PM
Hi JimmyCarter IsMy Hero! Thanks!!
Ossy 5:50:40 PM
Afternoon Space Lady Bot
Lizbot (host) 5:51:55 PM
Hello Ossy! Happy Warm June Day!
Lizbot (host) 5:53:00 PM
@Ossy - I played an instrumental from Ghibli/Miyazaki's Whisper of the Heart earlier in the program - One of my favorite movies to watch with my kid, or alone!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:40 PM
@iamthelabhras - And by "Hootie," I am going to assume you mean an actual hoot-owl...maybe the celebrated owl from the Tootsie Pop commercials
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 6:03:04 PM
This song Work for You by Mysterious Band is not Googleable, your play last year is the only reference.
Ossy 6:03:18 PM
Liz - Sooooo cute, Ghibi and Miyazaki's movies are adoring like Spirited Away and Kiki Service!
iamthelabhras 6:03:42 PM
I'll do a Whitman's Sampler of Hooties I think.
Lizbot (host) 6:05:57 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - It's a mystery!
Lizbot (host) 6:06:46 PM
@Ossy - There's another Ghibli Fest going on! Kiki's is coming to theaters in a couple of weeks for a short 2 or 3 day run, but I'll be out of town!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 6:07:49 PM
I like things I don't know.
Lizbot (host) 6:08:22 PM
@iamthelabhras - oh brother. I hope that means I get a box o' owls of various sizes, and I want them to be trained to hoot a tune like a bell choir
Rob from Maryland 6:08:52 PM
The British singer Bette Bright also covered "When You Were Mine", before Cyndi Lauper's version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV6FkxTyk7Y
Rob from Maryland 6:09:22 PM
I heard Bright's version before I even knew it was a Prince song
iamthelabhras 6:09:35 PM
Don't you worry Lizbot. I'm on it!
Rob from Maryland 6:09:54 PM
Bright's version came out in 1980
Lizbot (host) 6:10:29 PM
Hello Rob from Maryland! Happy June!
Andrew G 6:10:59 PM
they're showing princess mononoke and nausicaa in a few weeks and i can't wait to see them again
Rob from Maryland 6:11:30 PM
Hello Lizbot, happy June to you too!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:30 PM
@Rob from Maryland - ah, nice! Gonna have to visit that version. I love Cyndi's too. Instant nostalgia for me. I was a huge Cyndi fan as a kid from the moment She's So Unusual came out. The first song I ever played my daughter was All Through the Night
Lizbot (host) 6:14:25 PM
@Rob from Maryland - There are so many Prince songs I heard other people's versions of first! He was so prolific
Lizbot (host) 6:14:56 PM
@iamthelabhras - Excellent. I want these owls to sing for their frozen mouse-sicle suppers
Lizbot (host) 6:16:19 PM
@Andrew G - I am really looking forward to Princess Mononoke on the big screen again! I saw it when it first came out at Ritz East, which is now gone. My white wolfy dog looks like the multi-tailed wolf!
Rob from Maryland 6:17:22 PM
@Lizbot, in my world the Bette Bright version had extensive airplay (WHFS, and iirc the WAMU weekend show Overnight Express; maybe I taped it off the radio?) and I never heard the Prince version. I still like it much better than Prince's or Lauper's
Rob from Maryland 6:17:48 PM
@Lizbot, Prince was prolific. No controversy there
Lizbot (host) 6:18:02 PM
@Andrew G - Moro the Wolf! Was trying to remember her name!
Rob from Maryland 6:19:30 PM
@Lizbot, I'm glad you're keeping the Cyndi flame going. BTW my five issues of Maggot Brain have arrived, and the two issues of Silent Command. Lots of reading for me!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:48 PM
@Rob from Maryland - Adding Bright's When You Were Mine to my list to check out!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:10 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I am shocked you haven't chimed in on my proposed owl choir as devised in conversation with iamthelabhras here in the chat today! Owl species suggestions for my choir? I need a wide variety of sounds!
Number 6 6:21:35 PM
@Rob- No 1 of Silent Command should be arriving in the mail soon.
Rob from Maryland 6:22:34 PM
@Number 6, I got an email saying that number 1 is on its way. I am going through number 2 and number 3.
Rob from Maryland 6:23:04 PM
@Lizbot, I missed the first hour of your show and chat. Let me look back in the chat
Lizbot (host) 6:23:16 PM
@Numero 6 & Rob - I gotta get my order in!
Lizbot (host) 6:23:47 PM
@Rob from Maryland - OWLS...so many owls...and it's all cuz of a VICIOUS rumor that I like Hootie & The Blowfish...!
Number 6 6:24:55 PM
I got the other issues last week.
Number 6 6:26:45 PM
A/C is now on, and I have a stinkin' cold too!:(
Lizbot (host) 6:27:19 PM
@Number 6 - oh NO!
Number 6 6:27:49 PM
Hopefully I can get rid of it soon.
Rob from Maryland 6:28:31 PM
@Number 6, yikes! I hope it goes away soon
Number 6 6:31:54 PM
I hadn't had one in a while, guess I was due.
Rob from Maryland 6:36:26 PM
@Lizbot, Great Horned, Barred, Spotted, and Great Gray Owls all hoot. Eastern- & Western-Screech-Owls whistle, Barn Owls screech, Long- and Short-eared Owls bark (and hoot).
Lizbot (host) 6:39:20 PM
@Number 6 - I hope the relentless sunlight galvanizes your immune system and you smash that cold to the ground
Lizbot (host) 6:40:34 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I have at least one screech owl living behind my shed, so I got that covered! Oooh, I want some barking owls for sure to add to the chorus of screech owls, my dog's barks and all the foxs' vixen calls at night in my yard!
Ossy 6:43:41 PM
Cuteeeee
Lizbot (host) 6:43:50 PM
@Rob from Maryland - What kind of owl was the Tootsie Pop owl?
Lizbot (host) 6:44:00 PM
@Rob - Cuz I want him in there for star power
Lizbot (host) 6:44:35 PM
@Ossy - It's a veritable menagerie!
Rob from Maryland 6:46:48 PM
@Lizbot, how nice. We had occasional screech owls on our block until a pair of the larger Barred Owl started nesting nearby. We have only had one Eastern Screech-Owl since.
Lizbot (host) 6:48:39 PM
This song sounds like the Marble Madness soundtrack for Nintendo mid-80s
Lizbot (host) 6:51:19 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I'd like some barred owls, but I supposed they'd scare off the screeches. Did I ever tell you my husband's cousin is married to an avid jogger who jogs every morning on a trail in Shelburne Farms in Vermont and one morning on his usual route he was viciously attacked by a very large...maybe Great Horned?...owl! Talons right to the face! He was shook! He thinks it might have had a nest nearby. It was early, like 5:30 or 6 am
Rob from Maryland 6:52:18 PM
@Lizbot, I found an old/new ad. The owl looks like a generic owl (with 'ears'). Since the body is kind of short, it sort of looks like a screech owl
Rofflestomp 6:53:31 PM
Hi Lizbot! Tootsie Pop Owl? LOL Wise and wearing robes with graduation cap type of owl, although I dunno if that constitutes a genus of species. :)
Rob from Maryland 6:54:12 PM
@Lizbot, larger (Barred/Great Horned) owls have been heard hooting, drawing ever closer to a calling screech owl, until the smaller screech owl just stops calling, sometimes after a muffled call. Predation in action
Lizbot (host) 6:55:40 PM
Greetings, Rofflestomp!
Rob from Maryland 6:56:33 PM
@Lizbot, and, yikes about your husband's cousin. I suspect that he was attacked by a Great Horned Owl; they are larger than Barred Owls and I think more ... assertive near their nests
Lizbot (host) 6:57:00 PM
@Rofflestomp - I will also accept Owl from Winnie the Pooh if the Tootsie Pop owl is otherwise engaged
Krista 6:57:16 PM
Sunny is singing along to the music as Matt drives us home from Cream King (great seasonal ice cream place)
Lizbot (host) 6:57:41 PM
@Rob from Maryland - hmmm, good to know for future owl reference re: Tootsie the lollipop-loving owl
Rob from Maryland 6:57:48 PM
The Winne the Pooh and Tootsie Pop owls are wiser and kinder and gentler than real wild owls. I like them more because of that
Ossy 7:00:14 PM
☀️💧🍀
Lizbot (host) 7:01:08 PM
HI Krista! Happy June!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:26 PM
@Krista - That's so sweet! (Literally and figuratively) Thank you for that image! Say "Hi" to Sunny from me! Also, WHERE is this Cream King you speak of? I am a big fan of Evergreen Dairy Bar on Rte 70 but am willing to stray!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:04 PM
@Rob In Maryland - I was taught owls were gentle and patient from Winnie the Pooh. A.A. Milne lied to us!
Dale Hazelton 7:05:25 PM
herro dere. good sounds here....
Lizbot (host) 7:06:55 PM
@Rob from Maryland - I handled birds of prey, including some owls, at The Academy of Natural Sciences as a teenager. I couldnt tell you know what species we had back then, this was the early 90s, but I DO remember spending quite a bit of time collecting their pellets for dissection and thawing frozen mouse-sicles for them. I also learned how to handle them without provoking their ire, but sometimes they just didn't want to perch on me and I had to just respect that
Rob from Maryland 7:07:19 PM
@Lizbot, screech owls, Little Owls, Scops Owls (both Eurasian), Burrowing Owls, and other smaller species are surely gentle and patient
Rob from Maryland 7:08:27 PM
@Lizbot, how cool (handling birds of prey)!!
Dale Hazelton 7:08:33 PM
i found owl pellets on my porch furniture a few times. nice to know they feel at home here.
Rob from Maryland 7:09:05 PM
@Dale, yes indeed!
Dale Hazelton 7:10:42 PM
thought that sounded like magnetic fields. didn't know he was in that group too.
Rob from Maryland 7:25:28 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:28:32 PM
Ack!
Dale Hazelton 7:29:05 PM
serge always delivers.
Lizbot (host) 7:29:16 PM
Welp, the site went off-line mysteriously for a bit there...about 20 minutes, so I couldnt update the playlist or chat in here, but i HOPE it's back for the rest of the night!
Rob from Maryland 7:29:23 PM
@Lizbot, the chat was unavailable to me for about 5 minutes, or more.
Dale Hazelton 7:29:39 PM
is it serge? now i'm embarrassed...
Lizbot (host) 7:29:54 PM
@Dale Hazelton - I can see why you'd think this is Serge Gainsbourg singing but it's Brezel Goring of Stereo Total
Lizbot (host) 7:30:11 PM
@Dale - Understandable to confuse the two
Lizbot (host) 7:30:32 PM
oh boy, i got a LOT of playlist to catch up on now!
Number 6 7:30:43 PM
Site was wonky for me too.
Lizbot (host) 7:31:00 PM
@Dale - Nice! I want to encourage the owls to hang out in my yard!
Dale Hazelton 7:31:15 PM
ah!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:34 PM
@Number 6 - First time the site has just mysteriously crapped out at The Barge for me in the several shows I've done from here so far. Very odd.
Parrscream 7:33:09 PM
Hey Liz! Why did I not think you were on tonight?
Dale Hazelton 7:33:20 PM
gary wilson is HIlarious.
Lizbot (host) 7:36:14 PM
Oof! FINALLY caught up on the playlist! Couldn't enter anyting even on my phone while internet was down in here
Lizbot (host) 7:37:33 PM
Hi Parrscream! Good to hear from you! Sorry I didn't see your comment sooner, I was dealing with playing catch-up after our internet in the studio crapped out for 20 minutes!
Lizbot (host) 7:38:05 PM
@Parrscream - I wont be on NEXT week, as I'll be attending my daughter's middle school graduation! Will announce that during a mic break!
Dennnisons 7:42:19 PM
Congrats Teenbot!
Parrscream 7:42:43 PM
Well, that's why I didn't think you were on air earlier.... I've been out front teaching my daughters to rise their bikes! And then I came back in and saw you were on! Congrats to your Little Liz Bot for graduating Middle School! That is the best! Our oldest is graduating Middle School two weeks from tonight too!!!
Rob from Maryland 7:45:13 PM
Congrats to Teenbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:48:56 PM
Thanks (from Teenbot), Rob from Maryland!
