Hello Chat!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:01:18 PM
Hello Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:06 PM
Hi Catbird! Get outta my lawn!!...and into my chat
Number 6 5:05:47 PM
Greetings to all you chataholics! I now call to order this weekly session of chataholics anonymous or CA!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:02 PM
Hi Number 6 !
Lizbot (host) 5:07:10 PM
@Number 6 - ha! Chataholics, cataholics and catbirdaholilcs
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:07:42 PM
*chat chat squeak squeak*
Number 6 5:08:41 PM
Just no catatonics.
Lizbot (host) 5:11:41 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - Back odd, Warchild! (to quote Point Break) You territory does not extend to my deck!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:54 PM
@Number 6 - Then this song is fitting!
Lizbot (host) 5:13:04 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - chat chat...cat! Better pick a different yard! (Gonna have to borrow a neighbor's cat)
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:14:43 PM
@Lizbot, no, *your* territory does not extend to *my* deck
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:17:46 PM
@Number 6, there is (or was) a dj on KALX with the dj name Catatonic. The first time I heard her on air, last fall, she announced her name in station tradition: "Hello, I'm Catatonic" (they quite often leave "dj" out of their announcement).
Number 6 5:19:09 PM
LOL!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:18 PM
@Demonic Catbird - Ha! Catbird, maybe you should consider becoming catatonic rather than squawking and chasing other, nicer, birds outta my yard! @Rob - haha, I like that
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:19:20 PM
And I burst out laughing b/c I hadn't looked at the schedule that day so I was caught by surprise
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:20:02 PM
She was doing a show with another dj, who also announced her name: "And I'm Just Like Other Girls".
Number 6 5:20:59 PM
I got the 2nd and 3rd issues of Silent Command in my hot little hands yesterday, and I am perusing them as I type.
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:22:08 PM
Oh, I can hardly wait to get my copies of Silent Command. Hopefully that's what the mail carrier was putting in our mailbox a few minutes ago
Lizbot (host) 5:22:38 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - Ha! Jesse Thorn of Bullseye always ends his shows with "Every great DJ has a signature signoff" and then that's it
Lizbot (host) 5:22:50 PM
@Number 6 - Nice!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:23:15 PM
@Lizbot, I like that sign-off!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:34 PM
@Number 6 - I gotta get on top of ordering those. My 14 yr-old daughter has been perusing all my muic mags and zines. She recently found my stash of Maggot Brain
Number 6 5:24:00 PM
If you get USPS informed delivery, you can see what mail is coming before it hits your door.
Lizbot (host) 5:24:05 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - It caught me off-guard the first time I heard it, then I laughed
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:25:47 PM
To bring the KALX thing to a close, each had their dad in the studio around break time, on different shows, so one was Dadatonic and the other was Just Like Other Dads. Both dads were cool supportive parents. I think both djs just graduated so no more KALX shows from them
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:26:36 PM
@Number 6, I hope it doesn't hit my door, that's what the mailbox is for
Number 6 5:26:54 PM
I wonder what Marcel Marceau's sign off would've sounded like.:)
Lizbot (host) 5:27:21 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - Dadatonic! he's a dadaist dad!
Lizbot (host) 5:28:07 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - She & Dada-tonic could've played a round of Exquisite Corpse live on air!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:28:32 PM
@Lizbot, it looks like Maggot Brain is recent and ongoing? Cool! I assume it isn't limited to Parliament and Funkadelic ...
Lizbot (host) 5:28:32 PM
@Number 6 - hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. swooshing air
Lizbot (host) 5:29:13 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - It's really good, and cover's everything - They had a cover story on The Raincoats, so I scooped that one up
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:29:21 PM
@Lizbot, I guess they didn't think about playing Exquisite Corpse live. Oh, well
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:30:05 PM
Oooh The Raincoats!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:34:27 PM
I am looking at Maggot Brain's website and the zine issues look really good!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:28 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - It is! Bonus: They sometimes sell issues at shows, so then you don't have to pay shipping. I pick up several at The Lilys reunion show at The Latvian Society a few months ago
Ossy 5:38:53 PM
Ambient songs Liz
Lizbot (host) 5:43:58 PM
Hi Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:38 PM
@Ossy - It's that kinda day. I was sorta sleepy but also anxious and had crazy dreams last night and today called for some chiller music
Lizbot (host) 5:45:22 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - Now I'm thinking about how to play Exquisite Corpse on air or on the chat...
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:45:45 PM
@Lizbot, I may just buy all available issues and subscribe too, to Maggot Brain
Lizbot (host) 5:47:07 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - A wise investment in music entertainment and info!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:47:08 PM
@Number 6 & Lizbot, I went out to the mailbox and lo and behold, issues 2 and 3 had silently commanded USPS to deliver them today
Ossy 5:47:17 PM
Nice, Kate Bush. Saved this song in my playlist, the last time I heard.
Ossy 5:47:42 PM
Plus, outside is breezy and brighter crystal, than yesterday
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 5:48:35 PM
@Lizbot, do it! (play Ex. Corpse on air)
Lizbot (host) 5:50:18 PM
@Ossy - I love that song so much. First heard it while driving through the Pine Barrens in South Jersey on the way to camp in midsummer and it was a perfect sunny summer afternoon song
Lizbot (host) 5:51:35 PM
Today calls for some a cappella from Petra!
Lizbot (host) 5:52:21 PM
boiling heat, snakes and sun...This is later summer song
Ossy 5:55:27 PM
Beautiful for today like this as well!
Ossy 5:56:43 PM
Liz - Lovely experience and I heard Kate Bush, again on a silver gloomy Friday!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:35 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - too distracted doing show to figure that out yet, but maybe next mic break, maybe another show! I do wanna file that idea!
Lizbot (host) 5:59:01 PM
@Ossy - KB's also great for gloomy Fridays! She covers all the moods!
Ossy 6:00:38 PM
Just like cute The Space Lady. Took a Friday walk on that gloomy day, playing both of them!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:41 PM
@Ossy - My kid was camping with a friend under the eerie moon in the Pine Barens Friday night!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:05:58 PM

Hiya Addie!
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:06:48 PM
Happy Thursday! Hope you’re having weather as lovely as we are here in VT!
Lizbot (host) 6:07:00 PM
@Addie - There was some snake content earlier - in Chris Cornell's lyrics to the Petra Haden a cappella cover of Black Hole Sun
Lizbot (host) 6:07:13 PM
@Addie - We are! It's gorgeous!
Ossy 6:07:19 PM
Liz- Nice, did they see any fauna by any chance?
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:07:23 PM

Joe Moore 6:09:38 PM
Anyone getting The Teeth reunion tickets tomorrow?
Lizbot (host) 6:09:40 PM
@Addie - good! Thought of you upon mentions of sneks in the sun
Lizbot (host) 6:09:45 PM
Hi Joe!
Ossy 6:09:52 PM
Liz - Ooooooo, cute!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:05 PM
@Joe Moore - I'm not. I'm heading to Le Tigre reunion on Saturday
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:11:46 PM
@lizbot, I am honored to be associated with sneks.
Lizbot (host) 6:12:01 PM
@Joe Moore - a family member wrote about their reunion for XPN blog. I might get tickets, but i haven't planned as far ahead as january shows!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:19 PM
@Addie - You are forever Snek Lady of Vermont!
Joe Moore 6:14:17 PM
@lizbot so cool! Enjoy Le Tiger!
Lizbot (host) 6:15:32 PM
@Joe Moore - i just saw Kathleen Hanna with Bikini Kill a month ago, and she's back already. Feels very nostalgic for me!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:21 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - There's a way to play exquisite corpse live with two or more people in studio, but one person on air...can't think of a way that would work! Even in the chat, it'd be tricky...but the only thing i can think of is for everyone to type a word at the same time, copy it but not post it, and then all post it at the same time and the order the words come up is the corpse! A variation, but the best I can come with in chat form!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 6:26:32 PM
@Lizbot, I have five issues of Maggot Brain in my cart. Should I stop there, or go for gold, er, everything?
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 6:27:19 PM
@Lizbot, cool. Though I have to confess I haven't played Ex. Corpse but once or twice and that was in the 90s
Lizbot (host) 6:28:06 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - dooooo it!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:26 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - We play the drawing version of it with my kid and her cousins down the Jersey shore at least once every summer when we all get together for a weekend. We've made some pretty epic drawings doing that! We also name the resultnig creatures in verbal exquisite corpse style
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 6:30:36 PM
Lizbot's Catbird take a gamble, go for gold Lizbot's Catbird, many zine issues sold
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 6:30:51 PM
*h/t Girls At Our Best!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 6:31:29 PM
@Lizbot, sounds neat!
George Korein 6:32:01 PM
Are you a sad enough nude to save the president?
Lizbot (host) 6:35:59 PM
@George - haha....sounds like a video game byline
Lizbot (host) 6:37:46 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird (accidently typed "Carbird" at first, which is now making me think about birds flying loose in my car...) - Magoot Brain is so nice to hold, thick pages and great design too. I love GAOB and had a live DJ called Girls At Our Best many years ago, along with another one called Girl Gone Feral
Ossy 6:38:29 PM
Broadcast! Heard their accidentals song on that gloomy Friday walk
Lizbot (host) 6:39:58 PM
@Ossy - That's a great one too. I couldn't believe it when Trish Keenan of Broadcast died at only 42 of pneumonia!
Ossy 6:43:16 PM
Liz - Oh no, so sad! The greatest blow I heard yesterday....TINA TURNER :(
Lizbot (host) 6:44:53 PM
@Ossy - I KNOW. Crazy. Yesterday filmmaker Kenneth Anger died, and I was sad about that, and then suddenly the Tina news dropped! She was an inspiration. My mom always admired her too. She really rose phoenix-like in the 80s after many rough years with Ike
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 6:48:33 PM
@Lizbot, I stopped at 5 Maggot Brain issues because they appear to be big and thick issues and I don't want to overwhelm myself. Fortunately, birds won't be flying loose in your car. Love the DJ named GAOB.
Lizbot (host) 6:53:26 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - I have transported my birds in carriers in my car many times and thought about what if they got out! Fripp would immediately fly over to land on my shoulder and then give me a mouthful about being in the carrier. I usually appease him with millet for car rides! Of course youtube is full of videos of parrot owners with their birds loose in the car, riding on their shoulders and even sitting on perches installed on the dash! I don't think I'd ever feel safe trying that!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:41 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - Yeah, 5 is a lotta Maggot Brain!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:53 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - They ARE substantial
Ossy 7:07:48 PM
Liz - Learned a lot of songs of Tina, aside from What's Love years prior, as well adoring her biopic named after her What's Love song, starring Angela Basset and Laurence Fishburne!. Kenneth Anger, I heard of the news too, today! Sad we're losing so many legends
Lizbot (host) 7:08:22 PM
@Ossy - THat was a great biopic!
Ossy 7:08:35 PM
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Ossy 7:09:07 PM
Liz - Ike was scary, for real in that movie!
Lizbot (host) 7:12:58 PM
@Ossy - Yeah, it was intense but I'm glad they told that story and it's amazing she survived and thrived the way she did. She was a force
Lizbot (host) 7:14:09 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:28:17 PM
Hi TAndy!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:28 PM
@TAndy- Howzit going?
TAndy 7:28:54 PM
Ahoy! Just waking up
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:30:11 PM
I was not cool enough yet my sophomore year for Massive Attack!
Lizbot (host) 7:32:25 PM
@TAndy - I hope you had a restful sleep full of dreams more akin to pierogi toss and less akin to scarier parts of Night In the Woods. I had WEIRD dreams last night. I dreamt I lived on a ship and it got hijacked but it looked like an IKEA
Lizbot (host) 7:34:32 PM
@Addie - I bought this giant Massive Attack singles collection right after Teardrop and the album Mezzanine was released, so I had both the album version and the single. I had a trip-hop show on Haverford College's now-defunct radio station, WHRC...how of the time! It was called Caught Between Stations
TAndy 7:37:06 PM
I had a dream I don't remember much. All I remember is planes, giant mechas, and a broken printer.
Lizbot (host) 7:37:41 PM
That first station I was on in the mid-late 90s, WHRC, was sort of featured in the show The Mare of Easttown a couple years ago. They filmed what became of WHRC, the newer studio, as a student-run station Kate Winslet's daughter visits with the Philly band Mannequin Pussy
Lizbot (host) 7:38:19 PM
They ALSO filmed some key scenes just around the corner from my house! But they called it "Easttown" and was meant to be a fictional place in DELCO
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 7:40:24 PM
The shame of being mistaken for DELCO!!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:34 PM
@TAndy - hmmmm. I don't keep a dream journal because, when I did, I found the dreams boring when I went back and looked at them, BUT I do occasionally wake up with a phrase or tune in my head and like to write it down immediatley before I forget. This is the most recent one I wrote down on my phone after waking up on my sofa: pink wax train of triple fur." Seemed profound in my waking moments!
Ossy 7:42:03 PM
Save Our Place 💚
Lizbot (host) 7:42:22 PM
@Addie -haha! My cousins live in DELCO and even they make fun of DELCO all the time! They also shot a lot of that show along Forbidden Drive in the Wissahickon and called that DELCO too!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:28 PM
@Ossy - Love this beat!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:16 PM
@TAndy - I have the most copious bizarre and vivid dreams when I finally get real uninterrupted sleep after a period of sleep deprivation, and last night was very much that. i was painfully underslept yesterday and then proceeded to have super weird dreams when I finally caught some sleep
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 7:47:30 PM
@Lizbot, whoops, I forgot that you had parrots! Hopefully everything would work out if they got loose in the car
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 7:50:06 PM
*squeak squeak* this has been a most excellent show, Lizbot, thank you!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:51 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - haha, thanks! I begrudgingly accept your presence, catbird! Let's put it this way: I KEPT listening for you this spring and when I finally heard your familiar demented squeak, I was somewhat relieved, like hearing an old friend...then I proceeded to curse yr squonky voice!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:10 PM
@Lizbot's CatRob - Thanks Rob! And re: parrots - One of them rides all the way down the shore with me every year in a carrier and the only reason he doesn't protest the entirely drive is becayse of all the special roadtrip treats I ply him with!
Lizbot's Catbird :-) 7:54:25 PM
@Lizbot, you have such nice parrots. Maybe one could be on the deck and I could sing to it? *squeak squonk*
Number 6 7:57:09 PM
Thanks for the tunes once again. BCNU!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:34 PM
@Lizbot's Catbird - haha, Fripp used to hang on the deck as a young man when he hadn't grown in his flight feathers yet, and he still does on occasion, but he usually stays away from there. He LOVES being out in the screened-in porch at the place we stay at in Long Beach Island. He is utterly fascinated by seagulls! It's so funny watching him watch and mimic them!
Ossy 7:57:49 PM
Spectacular sounds, Liz, like Blossom Dearie Patty Jackson Frizzle Readie!!!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:52 PM
