Considering a switch to "bed music" during mic breaks for Barge shows. Suggestions welcomed!
Mike Tropiano 5:02:42 PM
The start of Jon's show always gives me a smile.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:02:49 PM
You and me both, Mike!
DSM 5:07:14 PM
Did I just hear you say Begushkin?!
Mon Mothman 5:08:30 PM
This show needs more Lobot
Rob F 5:10:20 PM
Ha - My daughter's birthday was also 5/19
Jon Solomon (host) 5:11:02 PM
Incredible, Rob.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:11:31 PM
Mon Mothman, most (if not all) shows on WPRB need more Lobot.
Mon Mothman 5:11:42 PM
AI prompt: Seward Johnson does Lobot
Jon Solomon (host) 5:11:57 PM
DSM, I did say Begushkin. They were the next session in reverse order I was supposed to air.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:12:16 PM
But it'll have to wait!
Brian Kijewski 5:12:19 PM
Hello Jon and chat! May 19 is also my sister Kim's birthday. Wow.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:12:39 PM
Happy birthday, Kim!
TAndy 5:13:24 PM
Gooooooooood evening peoples
DSM 5:13:54 PM
Dan (begushkin) used to be a regular in an old friend circle, a truly funny and weird dude. Look forward to hearing the look back!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:14:13 PM
Heya, TAndy!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:14:29 PM
DSM, I was trying to recall who was in that band. At least one Josh?
Jon Solomon (host) 5:14:50 PM
Maybe not.
Rob F 5:15:38 PM
Music bed could be Lindstrøm - Little Drummer Boy
Brian Kijewski 5:15:52 PM
Also regarding your comments about new New Pornographers. I've heard it twice. Still really great songs, but something feels a little flat about it as a whole. Think I need to give it more listens.
DSM 5:16:00 PM
I think it was sort of a revolving cast, the one steady being Dan. There was a Josh I do remember but I can't remember their last name.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:16:27 PM
Brian, that was sort of my first pass takeaway too. Anyone go see them on this tour?
Brian D 5:16:33 PM
Guardian Singles track had a little high pitched part similar to Bowie "I'm Afraid of Americans".
Jon Solomon (host) 5:17:02 PM
The Guardian Singles record is terrific. Not all of it is as Burma (but one of the other really Burma songs I didn't have time to make a clean edit of).
DSM 5:18:31 PM
If you were to use bed music I imagine the Tuluum Shimmering covers could work nicely
DSM 5:19:02 PM
Or yes, That too Rob lol
Brian Kijewski 5:19:04 PM
Didn't get a chance to catch New Pornographers this time round, but have caught them live twice before. I also unfortunately missed Facs this past Sunday in Toronto.
Brian D 5:19:15 PM
For more African guitar and bowed instrument greatness the "new" archival release "Ahl Nana - L'Orchestre National Mauritanien" from Radio Martiko is just wonderful. Anything by that family, collective, similarly/confusingly named and or translated group is wonderful.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:19:15 PM
That's a great idea. I think I was initially going in the direction of "a short endless loop" but I'm open to ideas.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:19:32 PM
Thanks, Brian D. I'll look into that.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:19:47 PM
I missed FACS last week too. Alas!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:20:29 PM
This record playing now is something I discovered existed while on-mic last Wednesday....
Jon Solomon (host) 5:21:09 PM
The series it is a part of is 2/2 in my ears + eyes.
Brian D 5:22:40 PM
My mother's-in-law birthday as well that good ol May 19. And I heard you mention Pol Pot and then I remembered that Ho Chi Minh also had May 19 as his birthday (thanks to Bob Weir for mentioning that on the tape of May 19, 1977 from The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Ga a fave cassette back in the day).
Jon Solomon (host) 5:24:23 PM
The waitress at our restaurant thought she was being pranked given what % of her tables had May 19 birthday celebrants at them.

Nice. I'll be checking out both soon I expect!
James Totally 5:32:19 PM
Hello everyone
Jon Solomon (host) 5:32:38 PM
Hello, James!
DSM 5:34:40 PM
Howdy James
Jon Solomon (host) 5:35:53 PM
Anyone have ambitious holiday weekend plans?
James Totally 5:36:19 PM
I came across a website today that blew my mind and I wanted to share
Jon Solomon (host) 5:37:10 PM
Please do.
James Totally 5:37:47 PM
Basically you upload an MP3 to it and it separates out the voice from the music using AI. vocalremover.org
James Totally 5:38:00 PM
so you can basically KAraoke anything
Jon Solomon (host) 5:38:21 PM
That could be very useful! Esp. for the perfect mic break background music...
James Totally 5:38:46 PM
I haven't tested to see if it removes background vocals too
Jon Solomon (host) 5:38:59 PM
Thanks for sharing with all of us!
James Totally 5:39:27 PM
it lest you save just the music or just the vocals too. Yes, I didn't even think of using it for sampling
DSM 5:39:36 PM
I'm gonna do it to Scatman (ski-ba-bop-ba-dop-bop) just because that removes the whole point
Jon Solomon (host) 5:39:59 PM
Give it an a cappella track and see what kicks back.
DSM 5:41:19 PM
Good find James, thanks!
James Totally 5:43:55 PM
I'm wondering if it can just pull voices from background noise. Like if I convert a clip of futurama to mp3, will I be able get clean voices to sample
Jon Solomon (host) 5:44:37 PM
One way to find out!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:44:49 PM
Also, there's a teaser trailer for the Hulu return of Futurama...
Brian Kijewski 5:45:20 PM
Thanks for the link @James. I'll be experimenting with this for sure.
James Totally 5:45:29 PM
ooo, I'll have to look that up

Jon Solomon (host) 5:52:48 PM

Andrew Chalfen 5:53:12 PM
Oh, hey, hi everyone.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:53:28 PM
Hey! I was talking about you up top, sir.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:53:44 PM
Will do so again this break (that's a teaser if I ever heard one).
Jon Solomon (host) 6:13:01 PM
Time for a second seltzer...
Brian D 6:13:05 PM
Can't go wrong with these 2022 Sault releases.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:15:20 PM
I was playing a track a week from them for a while, got off pace and trying to catch up accordingly.
Brian Kijewski 6:18:43 PM
Nice one. Thanks for playing, reminds me I still need to listen to the other 4 they dropped near end of last year. Only one I've listened to a bunch so far is Today & Tomorrow.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:20:06 PM
I don't remember the order I heard them in but each one was my favorite until I heard the next one and then *that* was my favorite!
Brian D 6:20:56 PM
Same pretty much. Today and Tomorrow has been on the phone and played often. Still love those others too and really need to give them more plays. That Where my Money At track is the cat's spats
Brian Kijewski 6:23:13 PM
Indeed vocal delivery on Money really is next level
Jon Solomon (host) 6:31:23 PM
When I re-aired the Windsor For The Derby session a few months back I discovered this extended piece existed and I'm glad I found it.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:43:14 PM
This is less The Drone Zone (how great was the interview on Clamour Club yesterday?) and more the Chillout Corner. The Ice Box? The Calm Balm?
DSM 6:50:10 PM
I'm not sure how exactly, but this one has felt to me like being on a long train ride
TAndy 6:50:32 PM
I'll drink to that DSM
Jon Solomon (host) 6:50:35 PM
Next stop Princeton Junction!
DSM 6:51:06 PM

TAndy 6:52:01 PM
I'm already passed out between cars after 7 old fashioneds and a Yuengling
DSM 6:52:24 PM
LOL
TAndy 6:53:49 PM
I seem to have fallen off the train and am laying in a field in Secaucus surrounded by men in suits speaking Sicilian.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:54:02 PM
TAndy bringing back terrible memories of non-express trains back from New York shortly after a Rangers game got out...
TAndy 6:54:25 PM
They still have express trains from NY? I haven't seen one since 2007
DSM 6:54:32 PM
Pretty sure TAndy got off in Willoughby!
Jon Solomon (host) 6:55:14 PM
I do like that train description a bunch.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:58:11 PM
TAndy, there are def. express trains because I caught one coming back from Toronto in March and it was a really nice development (as compared to sitting at the Newark Airport stop for an extra hour or so).
TAndy 7:03:52 PM
Oh I thought you meant express NJT!
TAndy 7:04:09 PM
I've never taken any other kind of train 🥹
DSM 7:04:45 PM
Raritan Valley Line was mah jam growing up MAKING ALL LOCAL STOPS
DSM 7:05:28 PM
(Willoughby is a Twilight Zone ep TAndy if that previous comment made no sense)
TAndy 7:06:12 PM
I shouldn't be in Willoughby, I got off at Alba Kerkie
Jon Solomon (host) 7:07:15 PM
I did mean express NJT, do not fret.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:07:20 PM
Uh oh. Woke up in Trenton again.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:07:28 PM
Missed my stop!!
DSM 7:07:37 PM
I took a sleeper train in Thailand to get down south to the beach zones and it was really awesome. There was a karaoke bar in the dining car and they love rock n roll over there

DSM 7:11:38 PM
tho probably a cop magnet
Jon Solomon (host) 7:12:21 PM
For a bumper sticker I'd drop the "now."
Jon Solomon (host) 7:13:43 PM
Have I ever shared in this space that I was pulled over both on the way to and on the way from the first Lollapalooza?
DSM 7:14:55 PM
I don't think so, but am I completely imagining this or did you also get run off the road at Lollapalooza by Ice-T?!
DSM 7:15:26 PM
maybe that was Mike L? or a fever dream? lol
Jon Solomon (host) 7:15:36 PM
That is 100% something that happened and it brings me great joy that you would even vaguely remember this!!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:15:53 PM
He was driving their tour bus!
DSM 7:16:29 PM
literally lol-ing right now
DSM 7:17:35 PM
Was that the same Lolla with being pulled over?
Jon Solomon (host) 7:17:40 PM
Yes sir.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:17:53 PM
A big day for automotive memories.
DSM 7:19:27 PM
Did you risk Lollapalooza the second year?
DSM 7:19:52 PM
I would be traumatized
Jon Solomon (host) 7:19:53 PM
I think I did but this time in Philly with friends from that area?
DSM 7:22:59 PM
Looking at the lineup for Lollapalooza 2023 now, and I can't say I want to see RHCP, but seeing them at Lollapalooza would feel "right'?
Ossy 7:27:01 PM
Converse high tops 🖤🤍❤💛🧡💙💜💚🤎💖
Jon Solomon (host) 7:33:10 PM
I haven't been to a Chicago Lollapalooza since I went there...with Brainiac. Full circle!
Mike Tropiano 7:34:48 PM
Loved the more serene and placid ambience today. Seems several PRB shows lately have leaned that way. Thank you.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:36:05 PM
Thanks, Mike. Glad to have you listening. I enjoy a relaxing show as much as full energy chaos these days.
Mike Tropiano 7:40:37 PM
Agreed, love high energy too but have been in a more quiet place lately.
DSM 7:48:01 PM
Thanks Jon, great tunes, great choo choo chat, a lovely time. Night all!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:49:05 PM
Great to have you here for all of it, DSM. I nearly hit up the garden you recommended on Friday but we plum ran out of time.
TAndy 7:51:36 PM
This is one of the very few times where I can go "I've heard this before!!" to this style of music.
TAndy 7:51:41 PM
Thank you, Jon!!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:52:27 PM
Thank YOU, TAndy!
Brian D 7:57:58 PM
Great show Jon!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:59:06 PM
Hey, thanks! Now to get dinner sorted...
Ossy 7:59:46 PM
