last.fm is still a thing but I have no idea how to use it. I still manually search up songs that I like from all the DJ's programs and add them to a general music YouTube playlist and a playlist for East DJ

Otherwise I'm most often just recording the shows on my laptop at home

Nice TAndy. I fondly remember last.fm. I should revisit it.What software do you use to record the shows?

Just VLC playing back at 77% volume and Audacity recording. Very time consuming having to split each project file so I may have to take it more easy with doing that during the summer schedule

I have YouTube playlists for the WPRBXmas stuff for marathon.christmas. But I find YouTube can be hit or miss. Also not the biggest fan of their UX for listening to tunes...though I must admit I've made quite a few discoveries digging into other people's playlists & niche music channels.

@Labhras searched “Labhras PBR” didn’t get a hit on Spotify- prob not doing something right

I have been told by people that there is a way to have recordings started and stopped with some simple scripting, but I am not running Linux and I don't think I would have the patience to deal with any issues that might present

@Paul...I'm sure you're doing stuff right. I've never searched for my own playlists before so I'm not 100% sure what the best way to zero in on them is.

@Paul It's entirely possible. Why so many databases hate the fada (´) I have no idea.

I just probably just cut Spotify's search functionality out of the pic altogether and build out a section on my personal site for WPRB playlists. Would prob be a lot easier.

@Paul. It's def not you, man. I'm sure it's Spotify and/or how I organized these playlists. I'm 100% sure they're all set public but I'm not sure if putting them in playlist folders makes a difference?

also, after listening to the station for a long time, I finally discovered that the chat is at the bottom of the playlist on my phone, the DJs always say go to wprb/chat, which I do and doesn’t work. They never say hey scroll down to the bottom this playlist for the chat.

on the computer it is on the right side of the playlist

never tried it on mobile!

@Labhras yes, Spotify is evil but it’s so nice for having music variety at my fingertips all the time, I’ll look in the folders- I also listen live whenever I can but sometimes I don’t feel like listening to a jazz show or Indian music, even though they are cool

I try to stay away from the computer! phone also evil though!!

it was in a studio it happened through headphones, I’m pretty good at sensing when to slip earbuds under them, but the jam was really good, and I think they got desensitized with some high frequency transients- was set up next to the drum set which was idol and then someone with jump on it really loud, and I would turn up the headphones a little. anyway, be careful your ears

@Paul Lanctot: figured out the problem. Apparently you have to _both_ set a playlist public _and_ add it to profile for it to be viewable.

Gone ahead & re-configured all the PBR playlists for Spring 2023 so they show up under my "Public Playlists" now.

@Paul: Excellent. The Fugit, 33u, and Keep Philly Non Robotic are all playlists associated with my t-shirt side hustle. Liked & Shared is where _all_ my liked songs go. It's...pretty massive but some people seem to like opening it up & putting it on shuffle.

I did for a hot minute there. I've been meaning to reboot the biz but I've been stretched thin for a while now. The whole idea was hyper-local, limited run t-shirts. So, like, you would either (a) source a wacky water cooler story or (b) focused on a hyper-local cultural touchstone of some kind and then rapidly design & print a limited number of t-shirts associated with (a) or (b). Hence the name Fugit (as in "Tempus Fugit" / time flies).
