Ahooyyyyyyyyy
Abe 10:01:37 AM
hello hello
Parrscream 10:02:43 AM
Good morning Dan!
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:03:46 AM
Hey Abe and Parr!
Parrscream 10:06:57 AM
I like that Radiohead Hot Take!
Abe 10:07:18 AM
I think I met you at the picnic on sunday !
Jon Solomon 10:10:51 AM
Welcome home, Dan!
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:11:44 AM
Yeah, Abe!
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:12:12 AM
And hey Jon. I inexplicably forgot to mention that I did, indeed confirm your corporeal existence as well this weekend
Jon Solomon 10:14:24 AM
Do not worry about it. I exist! I looked in a mirror and everything to make sure!
Matthew Robinson 10:17:09 AM
Morning Dan and y'all lovely WPRB listeners/chatters
TAndy 10:17:25 AM
Mornin
Matthew Robinson 10:17:32 AM
What was the hot take again? RE: Planet Telex?
TAndy 10:17:39 AM
Going to pizza city in a few who wants a slice

Jon Solomon 10:17:56 AM
Pizza City on Olden?
TAndy 10:18:01 AM
Yessir
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:18:20 AM
Hey Matthew! It was that Planet Telex is the germ from which every other subsequent Radiohead song springs
TAndy 10:18:24 AM
If they're open. They're working on the entrance and exit ramps into the lot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jon Solomon 10:18:29 AM
Enjoy! Good mural, never tried their pie though.
Matthew Robinson 10:19:23 AM
ooooo .. nice.. okay.. ill listen to their entire discog and report back another time! xD
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:19:28 AM
While I was in the area, I made a pilgrimage to DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies in Yardley, and it was indeed as good as I remember it being back in the Trenton location [redacted] years ago
Matthew Robinson 10:20:09 AM
DeLorenzo's is legit! Conte's is pretty decent as well
Jon Solomon 10:20:33 AM
I unexpectedly ended up at the same De Lo location last night Dan.
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:21:08 AM
I saw your Insta post. Wearing a pizza shirt to a pizza place was a bold move
Jon Solomon 10:21:19 AM
Was supposed to be having pizza in West Windsor but all four of us found ourselves on the PA side of the Delaware so the plan was adjusted accordingly!
TAndy 10:21:40 AM
@Jon Very good, top crust is soft and fluffy, but bottom is very crispy. They use good cheese imo. The sausage slice and their wings are worth it
TAndy 10:22:31 AM
@Dan I'll still always be confused how there was DeLorenzos and De Lorenzo's, two completely different spots.
TAndy 10:23:00 AM
The old location of the Yardley place is a Mexican food spot now. Decent food on the cheap, I go there sometimes.
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:23:29 AM
I seem to remember hearing that the two DeLorenzos were started by brothers with very different ideas about what pizza should be
TAndy 10:24:16 AM
Yep. The Yardley place that used to be in E. Trenton is like a thin crust regular pizza and the other place now in Robbinsville, formerly the 'burg, is a tomato pie place similar to Papa's.
Parrscream 10:24:47 AM
@Jon - Did you get to start playing Survivor with your daughter on Thurs?
Abe 10:25:16 AM
this is some cool jersey pizza lore.
Jon Solomon 10:25:20 AM
@Parr, we did. Got off the tutorial planet and are exploring a giant world presently (well, not presently presently because of work + school).
TAndy 10:26:27 AM
Corleone's on S. Olden across from St. Mary's cemetery is still my #1 spot in the area, though. Nino's Pizzarama on Chambers is also extremely good old-school pizza
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:26:53 AM
Definitely recommend taking a field trip to Yardley for the real tomato pie, Abe! when I was an undergrad, I remember going to the old DeLorenzo's with WPRB folks regularly enough. I could never find the place on my own, though
Parrscream 10:27:43 AM
@Jon - That's awesome! Gld you got to start it on May the 4th....Ha ha... understood.... I am "presently" on my way to Dathomir in Fallen Order... That boss on Kashyyk was TOUGH!
TAndy 10:28:41 AM
I e still gotta try Papa's... Want that mustard pizza. Gonna have to give that other place with the spinning ovens a second chance too.
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:28:50 AM
I cannot recommend enough this interview with Vashti Bunyan about her new-ish memoir: https://themusicbookpodcast.buzzsprout.com/2120946/12707982-007-vashti-bunyan-on-vashti-bunyan
Abe 10:31:23 AM
Oh its going on the bucket list for sure Dan. I've been meaning to expand my pizza palette anyways, I've only really had fast food slices.
Jon Solomon 10:35:54 AM
@Parr, we went to Dathomir first and found it way way way too hard so you're taking a much better route.
Parrscream 10:37:55 AM
@Jon - Someone else told me that. I guess I got lucky in the path I chose... i just wanted to see the wookies so that's why I went to Kashyyk first, ha ha
Krista 10:38:35 AM
I was sad to miss the picnic! Sunny came down with hand foot and mouth and I didn't want to infect others with a blistering hand disease.
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:39:12 AM
Yikes, Krista! Hope she gets better soon!
Krista 10:39:50 AM
It's a mild thing, just really gross looking.
Rob F 10:44:44 AM
De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies (Robbinsville for me) is the best
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:46:32 AM
I just saw the most vividly blue bluebird that I've seen in a while in my back yard
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:47:09 AM
Now for an Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere hot take: I'm incredibly impressed with their commitment to single-note guitar solos. I think there's at least one in every song
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:49:12 AM
Also, Cowgirl in the Sand is the song that was always on classic rock radio when I was a kid. I firmly believe Down By the River is the objectively better loping Crazy Horse jam
Rob F 10:53:03 AM
single-note guitar solos interesting
DSM 10:54:05 AM
single note guitar solos are true rock n roll bad-assery
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:54:12 AM
I should do a show sometime of just single note guitar solos
TAndy 10:54:55 AM
Pizza posted on the gram
DSM 10:54:59 AM
Also, good morn Dan
TAndy 10:55:19 AM
Sup DSM & Rob F
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:55:37 AM
Morning DSM!
DSM 10:55:55 AM
Good morn Tand, just had a slice myself, leftover from yesterday's Pizza fest
TAndy 10:56:07 AM
There was a pizza fest?????
Rob F 10:56:08 AM
GM all
DSM 10:56:47 AM
In my life, yes. lol (just eating a lot of pizza while watching "Once Upon a Time In America"
Dan Ruccia (host) 10:56:53 AM
Morning Rob
DSM 10:58:25 AM
mornin Rob
TAndy 10:59:27 AM
Love this ID
TAndy 10:59:55 AM
You had the perfect opportunity to gaslight me with pizza
Rob F 11:01:04 AM
TAndy have you tried the sandwiches at Dolce & Clemente's
TAndy 11:03:44 AM
Nope! Where are they located?
TAndy 11:04:07 AM
Of course the best track of the show is appropriately named.
Rob F 11:05:37 AM
Robbinsville (Next to De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies) My daughter really liked the Pepperoni Pink Panther
TAndy 11:05:51 AM
👁️👁️
DSM 11:06:28 AM
I hear something that sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle
TAndy 11:06:36 AM
I'm listening with one earbud so it should be mono, I hear a rhythmic beeping
DSM 11:06:39 AM
but now gone
TAndy 11:06:43 AM
Same, gone
Brian "D" for Donor 11:12:34 AM
Back in 80s-90s the Philly fm classic rock stations played both Cowgirl in the Sand and Down by the River. About even. Maybe "...River" got more plays than "Cowgirl.. " Love them both for the Horse long form Danny Whitten era songs
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:12:47 AM
OK, squealing solved. My speakers were just being dumb
TAndy 11:13:21 AM
Id listen to both in a van down by the river
C.W. Mokcall 11:14:19 AM
I like when Buddy Miles covers that one
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:14:54 AM
Whoa, gonna have to check that one out Mok
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:15:40 AM
And Brian, maybe you're right. I think I do remember hearing Down by the River on the radio, too. But at least in Columbus, I'm pretty sure they always truncated it. I remember hearing all of Cowgirl
TAndy 11:48:21 AM
Thank you very much for the show, Dan! Loving this music you're playing for an excellent cruise around town on this beautiful day! (I'm parked while typing this)
Abe 11:50:18 AM
what TAndy said.
Abe 11:50:24 AM
except im not in a car
DSM 11:50:58 AM
oh my noon already! Thanks Dan, good day everyone. Loving this unleashed horn here.
Abe 11:50:59 AM
Definitely will be revisiting those room full of teeth tracks
Brian "D" for Donor 11:51:58 AM
< we are team Sloan Ave Hamilton NJ De-Lo's here. Appreciate Robbinsville tho. The Sloan Ave loc was reborn from the Burg location we loved as kids.
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:52:51 AM
Thanks TAndy, Abe, DSM, and everyone else for listening and hanging out in the chat today!
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:54:20 AM
And Abe, Roomful of Teeth does lots of cool, wild stuff. Caroline Shaw won a Pulitzer Prize in composition like 10 years ago for a piece she wrote for them
Brian "D" for Donor 11:54:34 AM
And.. as I started posting that.. the surprise pizza fairy just rang my doorbell and delivered a Brooklyn style! Wow... ! Not De Lo's tho. It's from Dominick's Orig loc in my Pa town which is a NJ OG pizza joint as well.
Dan Ruccia (host) 11:55:27 AM
Love the distinctive crispiness of a central NJ tomato pie, though. Nowhere else does it quite like that
Brian "D" for Donor 11:59:17 AM
My wife and her mom rule! Surprise pizza delivery yeah!
