Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:07:15 PM
Niiice!
Russell Woessner 2:10:44 PM
I love Reid’s elliptical, stately and vaguely psychedelic lyrics!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:11:11 PM
You are a poet yourself, how beautifully you described him
Mike Constantine 2:11:12 PM
Fun fact, this is long time WMMR Dj Michael Tearson's favorite band.
Mike Constantine 2:12:42 PM
This is an excellent choice as opposed to the live version from 72
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:13:02 PM
I only play the hits.
Mike Constantine 2:14:34 PM
Ha!....indeed
Richard from Rocky Hill 2:14:56 PM
@ Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) Thanks muchly for the Keith Reid tribute and reading his lyrics for "Whiter Shade of Pale": For a half century - literally - I've thought it went "That our faces turned just ghostly ..." when it's actually the much more compelling "That her face, at first just ghostly, turned a white shade of pale." I'm always learning from "Serenade" and WPRB in general. :-))
Mike Constantine 2:16:13 PM
And that first album was in "reprocessed stereo"...ugh
Brian D 2:16:35 PM
I like the organ heavy non orchestrated Conquistador! Weird hearing Gary say con-kwist-a-dor as I was a Spanish major but oh well...
Mokley Crue 2:17:46 PM
i had a college english prof who said "Don Quix-ote"
Brian D 2:18:18 PM
Ha
Russell Woessner 2:19:09 PM
Life is like a beanstalk, isn’t it?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:20:01 PM
Thank you, Richard! I learned about 12 hours before you!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:20:27 PM
You remember, Mike. Suuucked!
Brian D 2:20:38 PM
It's either '43' or "the canned salmon' ... can't remember which...
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:21:03 PM
Brian, I was paranoid about saying it the wrong way in front of you!
Brian D 2:21:14 PM
Beanstokday innit?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:21:44 PM
Haaa!
Rofflestomp 2:21:46 PM
I am definitely eating all of my green beans today.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:22:09 PM
Hey RS, yes, or no nirvana for you!
Rofflestomp 2:22:36 PM
I'll have to not think about it for a while Jerry. :)
Brian D 2:22:46 PM
Everyone says .. kwist... oh well.. Brit received pronunciation is weird. Dalay Lammer.. also
Mike Constantine 2:23:24 PM
and Pizzer
Brian D 2:23:25 PM
cone-KEEST-ah-door if yer in Madrid tho
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:23:43 PM
That's the South Philadelphia pronounciation
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:23:56 PM
Haha, can I have a glass of wooder
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:24:16 PM
That's the King's English!
Mike Constantine 2:24:23 PM
and in Castilian?
Rofflestomp 2:24:51 PM
The jewel is in the lotus in a South Philly pawn shop.
Brian D 2:25:04 PM
Sorry.. the -DOOR syllable is the stressed one there
Brian D 2:27:16 PM
Heard good things about the reunion of Procul in early 90s. I think Trower was involved...?
Russell Woessner 2:27:28 PM
The construction of this song is brilliant!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:28:45 PM
RS, you are very deep and hip
Mokley Crue 2:32:12 PM
far out
Rofflestomp 2:33:04 PM
Ha! You're the one getting all metaphysical here my good sir. But thank you for the lovely compliment.
Rofflestomp 2:34:30 PM
This show is the hipness of life.
Mokley Crue 2:35:55 PM
Make love, not war. Don't let the man keep you down. Live and let die.
Brian D 2:36:08 PM
Mike, Castilian pronounces the letter 's' like 'ss' or 'zz'. Always. There is a misunderstanding about the 'th' sound in Spain... only happens with the letter 'z' and 'c' (c before i or e that is).
Mike Constantine 2:37:02 PM
True about the misunderstanding
Rofflestomp 2:37:19 PM
Yea, whenever I hear someone say gazz I still get taken for a loop.
Mike Constantine 2:39:22 PM
Powerful song, this is
Rofflestomp 2:39:58 PM
My parents grew up in Jersey City. I am really confused at the east coast reunions after living in Texas and the west coast for 35 tears.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:40:00 PM
RS, please don't say gazz
Rofflestomp 2:40:35 PM
LOL Jerry, I do not. :)
Brian D 2:40:43 PM
Petrol the word is awkward but it makes sense and solves the problem of confusion with the state of matter "gas" .. but we're stuck with "gas" for gasoline in USA Eng. Hard to stop now
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:40:45 PM
Hey y'all, that was a great jawn!
Lance Pembroke 2:41:13 PM
Perfect show!!! It's so great to hear these Procol Harum cuts again!!
Mike Constantine 2:41:48 PM
Another english the had several meanings
Brian D 2:42:02 PM
Toadilly great shee-ow !
Mike Constantine 2:42:14 PM
english word....eesh
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:43:04 PM
haha. Thanks, Lance. Yeah, these are in our DNA now
Brian D 2:44:51 PM
I remember watching Mad Men & one character they kept calling "sinjin"... what? Saw the credits.. oh.. his first name is St John? What again...
Mokley Crue 2:46:09 PM
Sinjin Smythe
Mike Constantine 2:46:10 PM
T's aren't pronounced much anymore
Rofflestomp 2:46:31 PM
@Brian D, I have never watched Mad Men. Worth a binge?
Brian D 2:46:42 PM
They'd have trouble asking where Chitch'ster Avenue is near Phila...
Brian D 2:47:06 PM
O yes Roff! Great ride that show
Brian D 2:47:52 PM
Madvertising 101... kept waiting for Alfred E Neumann to show up for years but he never did...
Rofflestomp 2:47:56 PM
Thanks. I was not into much TV stuff for a while.
James Simmons 2:49:18 PM
Thanks for playing In Held Twas I. I saw them perform that at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic and a 30 member chorus and Keith did the spoken work portion of the song. It was astounding
Mike Constantine 2:49:28 PM
And Madmen paid like a quarter of a mil to play The Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:52:08 PM
Amazing, James!
Rofflestomp 2:52:10 PM
Micheal Jackson is spending his heaven bucks.
James Simmons 2:52:37 PM
What was that term again for the In Held Twas I?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:52:42 PM
Mike, this is why your mother said what she did about your knowledge pool
Mike Constantine 2:53:10 PM
Ha!....Right!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:53:11 PM
acrostic
James Simmons 2:53:44 PM
OK. Thanks!
Mike Constantine 2:54:16 PM
In high school we started smoking Player's Cigarettes because of the cover of this album
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:55:15 PM
That is hip!
Mike Constantine 2:55:30 PM
Heh...we thought so!
Russell Woessner 2:56:36 PM
I saw Procol in 1970 at the Spectrum, sandwiched between opening act Leon Russell and headliner Ten Years After. Russell and Procol upstaged TYA.
Rofflestomp 2:58:39 PM
Thank you Jerry, always great! Chag Pesach kasher vesame'ach!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:59:03 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:05:02 PM
What an eighth grade memory!
