He developed an interest in jazz at an early age and clandestinely listened to it during his education at a Qur'anic school. Djong Yun is singing from Florain Fricke's adaptation from the Song of Solomon: "Du sollst Deine Liebste nicht wecken, bevor es ihr selbst gefällt." (~You should not awaken your beloved, before it pleases her.)
8:22 AM		Contraction La bourse ou la vie (“Tout Seul Comme un Grand Piano”) La bourse ou la vie ProgQuébec 1974 The group known as "Contraction" started as a backing band for Frank Dervieux's "Dimension M". Their second release, "La Bourse Ou La Vie" is an excellent indefinable mix of influences, like the rest of the Rock Progressif Québécois scene, where a slight jazzy prog-rock seems to be the prime ingredient, but hardly the only one. The album's name is a reaction to the heavy pressures of their record label to ask them to be more commercial, but they refused, using that catch phrase "your money or your life". ⭐⭐Winner of the Hugh Laurie lookalike contest? ⭐⭐

"Torn Between Dimensions", the band's debut recording, features Snelwar on guitar, mandolin, and keyboards; Michael Manring on fretless bass and e-bow; and Fates Warning's Mark Zonder on drums and percussion. Bandcamp The music blends a variety of styles that would seem 'at war' with each other, like folk and metal.

9:13 AM		Volkor Astral Trip Volkor Musea 1976 Originally issued by the group "Lockwood", which was the first band formed by brothers Francis Lockwood (keyboards) and Didier Lockwood (violin) after the latter's departure from Magma. The band also included another ex-Magma's member Patrick Gauthier (keyboards). Lockwood was short lived, and after they split, Gauthier and drummer Kirt Rust would rejoin in Magma-influenced band Weidorje, while Didier Lockwood would join ZAO before being reunited with his brother Francis and bassist Bunny Brunel in Surya. Musea reissued "Jazz-Rock" in 1996, along with Francis Lockwood's 1981 LP "Debbi" as "Volkor" (probably for peculiar legal reasons).

Jon Field had played flute on Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" in 1973. That, and some networking by Steve Winwood of Traffic, helped get Jade Warrior a 4-LP contract with Island Records. "Waves" is the 2nd of the 4 LPs. Steve Winwood joins on piano.
