I'll talk more about this on-mic after this set but Etran de L'AÏr exceeded the very high bar I had set for seeing them live.

Joe! I wish I'd known you were there. Didn't expect the show to be sold out. My usual spot in the balcony was occupied for once.

I would pay money to simply watch their drummer.

I saw you I think but there were too many people to make it over. Next time!

I found a spot all the way in the back but was still standing in front of a much shorter person than I. Felt bad about that and was eventually able to snake my way in front of the sound board, blocking no patrons in the process.

Their drummer was playing out of his mind. Their bass player has to have one of the best jobs in music. And the bass/second guitar player switched instruments for the encore, which was intriguing.

I didn't know what to expect from that show and it was one of the best live acts I've seen in recent memory. I don't think I was expecting that.

I left before the encore because I felt so thoroughly satisfied already.

The entire show was one big pocket.

I think they borrowed a friend's kit for the Philly show and I hope it was returned in the condition it was found. Dude hit those drums hard!

It was so comforting to know that on the other side of the world in a dessert a drummer is asking for more guitar in the monitors. A universal language

Drummer was playin so hard they put a rock in front of the bass drum… and that wasn’t enough, they had to go out and get a bigger rock!

I worried that eventually one of the Johnny Brenda's staff was going to have to sit in front of the drums to keep them in place.

I didn't! He was playing pinball at City Gardens before their show and we shared a game.

I'm a bit ashamed to say, but it's one of those MOD dealios. I had a gift card!

Because this is a safe space, I can tell you all that I had a Pizza Hut personal pizza on Friday night (to be fair, it was the best of my YUM! Center food voucher options).

Oh yeah! The YUM Center! ah man I missed the Kentucky recap. Glad to hear The Hut did you well tho!

I basically drove straight from New Jersey to the YUM! Center, went to a friend's and slept five hours, picked up pastries / coffee and reversed my journey.

My buddy Stephen did drive back from me and it was great to have some company. The sprint out was just this guy and his podcast regimen.

I love a long drive, but that's an intense turn around schedule!

It was not bad at all. Almost no traffic, clear skies getting home and I brought just the right amount of snacks / peanut butter sandwiches / beverages to pace it out.

That said, 38 hours between leaving home and getting back was wild.

All for a free Pizza Hut meal at the YUM Center

Plus a complimentary side salad!

I did swipe some of the YUM! Center trail mix for the drive home.
