I did that about an hour ago. Tofu tacos with broccoli slaw, pineapple chunks, and chili crisp. It didn't suck.
DSM 8:11:31 PM
that sounds like a legit, well planned out dinner. I made a scrappy 'olive pasta' with the most basic side salad

Mike Lupica (host) 8:48:33 PM
Hahaha. Best dancing ever in this video.
Rob from Maryland 8:49:31 PM
I don't know the video. I missed the song when it came out because I was living in Europe. So this is only like the 2nd or 3rd time I've ever heard it, and I think all the times have been on WPRB
Commie Francis ☭ 8:49:52 PM

Hi Alan!

Brian Eno = Anagram for One Brain
DSM 10:12:53 PM
I remember once listener Matt was tuning in / checking in from a graveyard at 10:00pm during an ep of the notebook.
richard lyons 10:12:58 PM
Dog bless Fred and Toody!!
Commie Francis ☭ 10:15:03 PM
I was showing Bill the Osmonds dance and the first comment on YouTube is "this is what happens when Mormons finally try caffeine*
Mike Lupica (host) 10:15:25 PM
Hahaha!
jimboo 10:15:40 PM
💀🌒
Jon Solomon 10:16:15 PM
When I recorded Fred and Toody’s other band for Factorial’s show a person came into the board room and said something slightly disparaging about the performance that ruined all the magic. Was so unnecessary!
Jon Solomon 10:16:59 PM
Maybe it was more dismissive than anything? Perfect opportunity to keep one’s trap shut.
Dennnisons 10:17:21 PM
These Dead Moon tracks are great!
Mike Lupica (host) 10:17:26 PM
TOMORROW YOU WILL TELL ME WHO THIS "PERSON" WAS SO THAT I MAY THINK LESS OF THEM FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
jimboo 10:17:26 PM
That person is CURSED.
richard lyons :) 10:18:20 PM
Jon, I think that is the charm of DM!
Jon Solomon 10:18:38 PM
Mike, you will say “of course” when I tell you and then we will click two cans of seltzer together and laugh.
Pete Trenham 10:18:41 PM
In 1994 I drove to the Grand Canyon over Xmas break. At the youth hostel in Flagstaff I met Jane from Australia who needed a ride to San Francisco so she could ride to Portland with friends to see this strange band Dead Moon. We visited Death Valley along the way. It was years before I heard Dead Moon but they always have a vivid place in my memory.
Mike Lupica (host) 10:19:04 PM
Wow! Awesome, Pete!
jimboo 10:19:31 PM
When I saw Dead Moon in Philly they were the OPENER for some shitty doofus band.
Andrew Gruen 10:19:55 PM
didn't know about this box set. wow
Andrew Gruen 10:20:11 PM
so i just ordered it
richard lyons :) 10:20:17 PM

richard lyons :) 10:20:38 PM
Thanks for keeping it going, Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jimboo 10:21:01 PM
Good lord this is savvvvvage.
richard lyons :) 10:21:12 PM
Hell yes, Andrew!
Jon Solomon 10:21:33 PM
I need to look up who we booked Dead Moon with. Some hilariously odd sonic pairing.
Mike Lupica (host) 10:21:42 PM
I never saw Dead Moon. Met them once and they were like the sweetest people on the planet, but will hate myself forever for never witnessing them on stage.
Jon Solomon 10:23:03 PM
Modest Mouse and Joan of Arc.
Jon Solomon 10:24:04 PM
May 1998.
Mike Lupica (host) 10:24:40 PM
Sure, why not.
richard lyons :) 10:25:16 PM
I have a KBOO recording of Toody on KBOO Portland I will get together from last year. Unfortunately there are a lot of glitches, but worth it.
richard lyons :) 10:25:34 PM
ALRIGHT!!!!!
DSM 10:26:21 PM
Saw Dead Moon open for Royal Trux at a crazy fest with an equally killer line up down in Anehiem (sp)
Pete Trenham 10:26:39 PM
I wish I could say I'd have appreciated Dead Moon in 1994, but a Pavement obsession consumed a lot of bandwidth.
Colin 10:28:03 PM
first poster on the barge!
richard lyons :) 10:28:06 PM
Contact Toody and Mississipi records! They have more...
richard lyons :) 10:28:34 PM

Also, thank you, bomb list
Mike Lupica (host) 10:34:54 PM
Pulling over to comment on a playlist is among the most noble of listener moves. We call it: "The Pethie Maneuver" (so named for DJ Pethie, who does that all the time.)
Mike Lupica (host) 10:40:41 PM
For the 2nd week in a row, I am playing Unwound just a few hours after the previous DJ played them. The WPRB TARDIS is fully operational, but it only goes to 1995.
Andrew Gruen 10:41:26 PM
i hope they keep touring!
Alan Pasnyk 10:44:40 PM
Thank you God that we have the playlist! I remember pulling over to call the station, having to comment/ask about a track being played, wary of a long set being back announced..
Andrew Gruen 10:48:58 PM
absolutely, alan!
Commie Francis ☭ 10:49:21 PM
I got into dead moon shamefully late and never saw them either. A good friend of mine was in pierced arrows and played with dead moon live when Andrew wasn't able to and both bands played my town several times and i DIDN'T GO. I had this vague idea they were garage rock and i was like whatever
Commie Francis ☭ 10:49:49 PM
A few years later i finally listened to them and was like oh noooo

Colin 10:53:10 PM
i rode the late bus to the dead moon too. and when i finally checked them out i was oh! probably heard them here dozens of times too.
Mike Lupica (host) 10:53:16 PM
Believe it. Like I said, I met them for 10 minutes and they were just the sweetest, kindest, and most humble people ever. RIP Fred and Andrew. Toody is a rock and roll soldier.
Commie Francis ☭ 10:53:26 PM
He was also in punk/crust bands in the 90s/00s which is how I know him
