@ Andrew Gruen Wow, I'm sure Otoboke Beaver is as tight & methodical in their mad method in person as on disc. I had a ticket for them in NYC last month but, alas!, a last minute conflict had to take priority and I got hosed. Maybe another time ... before they've launched up to stadiums ...

Am I to infer there were eight Brown Acid anthologies before that one? I’ve never heard of the series until now. I read that the two brothers who comprise the band 29.9’s rhythm section acted in the 1979 horror film “Effects”. There’s some music by 29.9 in its soundtrack!
Esoterica (host) 12:37:55 PM
hey david, cool info! thx!
Esoterica (host) 12:38:14 PM

Speaking of Ernie Bushmiller, there’s a song by Shock Mommies (whose rhythm section would join Monster Magnet and are now in the Ribeye Brothers) that described the fascist implications of the Nancy strip (e.g., characters walking in a goosestep, Sluggo the skinhead, Aunt Fritzi’s resemblance to Eva Braun). The song is called “Neo-Nazi Nancy”.
David Shortell 2:04:30 PM
Shock Mommies only made one cassette tape that was sold at their shows (I first saw them in a WPRB DJ’s basement in 1986). However, somebody must have digitized the tape because I’ve heard the WPRB robot play a track during the Automation Hour!

That spoken intro to “Looking For a Kiss” is the same as the spoken intro in the Shangri-Las’ "Give Him A Great Big Kiss". I saw the New York Dolls play the Shangri-Las’ “Out in the Street” at Sayreville’s Starland Ballroom in 2005.

Vicki Petersen was in Redd Kross in 1984, though maybe just for the one night that Dez Cadena video-recorded them. It was among his live music videorecordings that he screened at the Brighton Bar several years ago.
