I missed Ivan Julian at the Brighton Bar in 2011. I did see Richard Hell give a reading at Brownies once though--and Marky several times in the Ramones, of course. In a recent WFMU interview, Hell spoke of the tragic Robert Quine. His 2004 death was not his first attempt at suicide.
Dave Williams 12:35:37 PM

Speaking of Kate Bush, a musical production of “Wuthering Heights” debuts tonight at Princeton’s McCarter Theatre Center (I don’t think her song is in it though). Coincidentally, an Emily Bronte biopic will open at nearby Montgomery Cinemas tomorrow!

In 1993, Peter Bagge wrote a strip (“The One-Sided Ego Battle”) recounting the time a NYC underground-celebrity destroyed some artwork he submitted to the East Village Eye. Bagge chose not to give his name in that strip, but he divulged it to me when I met him at a book signing sometime later. It was Richard Hell.

Jessie Royce Landis (born Jessie Medbury, November 25, 1896 – February 2, 1972) was an American actress. Her name is also seen as Jesse Royce-Landis. She remains perhaps best-known for her mother roles in the Hitchcock films To Catch a Thief (1955) and North by Northwest (1959).
Dave Williams 2:58:26 PM
Hitchcock had to sneak to get the U.N. shots.
